Poorly Written Proposal

Hello to everyone voting upon my proposal!

I have read all of the replies to this proposal, reread my proposal, and now realize the wording is decent. I may have been too "strong" on the wording, but it is able to be understood if you read it closely. On my next proposals, I will be sure to lighten up on the vocabulary as it may confuse some readers.

Regards,

A Million Dollars

We need a stronger piece of legislation to condemn DEN, I feel this one is too weak and will not be the pillar Condemnation we need to show the world how bad DEN is.

"Able to be understood" is not a high standard. Besides, we're complaining that the wording is too elementary. You used "whom" wrong, for instance.

Just curious as to who the target audience of these said proposals is going to be.

Germantica wrote:We need a stronger piece of legislation to condemn DEN, I feel this one is too weak and will not be the pillar Condemnation we need to show the world how bad DEN is.

Baloney. The stronger the condemnation, the more of an effect it has of being a badge of honor. A crappily written proposal on the other hand looks bad on the region that has to bear it, and this fits that bill very nicely.

RECOGNIZING the horrific actions taken by DEN to destroying small regions;

"to destroying small regions" is grammatically incorrect.

DISTURBED about the raiding tactics used to wipe out any region;

Please elaborate.

SHOCKED at DEN's ability to form alliances with other regions, including, but not limited to, The Black Hawks, and their ability to detect those who side with DEN and those who oppose their horrific raiding tactics;

Alliances are hardly shocking, and people who side either with or against DEN tend to be pretty vocal about it. They wouldn't be hard to detect. And again with the unspecified raiding tactics.

FEELING SORROW for DEN's random targets whom do not expect their small, friendly region to be attacked by evil dictators;

"Whom" is not the right word to use here.
The underlined phrases show quite a bit of bias. "Small, friendly region" is not true of all of DEN's targets, and there are some decent DEN soldiers out there who aren't "evil dictators."

BEWILDERED about DEN's choice of targets, as they aren't specific; which makes DEN's act of raiding a sport;

From what I've heard, raiding's always been sort of a sport. (Although, compared to other nations, mine is relatively new to the world, so I'm not quite sure about this.)

TERRIFIED at of DEN's ability to conquer large regions as well, including, but not limited to:

Their latest raid, Portugal;
The West Pacific;
and Anarchy;

"TERRIFIED at" doesn't sound right. Also, I think the list of regions would be better off bulleted, but this isn't necessary.

NOTING DEN will continue to bring despair to many regions, as well as the nations inhabited in inhabiting them;

Hereby condemns DEN

I feel like "BELIEVING" would be a better first word, since the certainty that "NOTING" seems to imply doesn't exist, but that may just be me.

Pax In Terra wrote:The wording of this is terrible.

Agreed.

Nohbdy's condemnation is much better than this one. As I'd rather wait for Nohbdy to submit his than blindly condemn DEN, I have voted AGAINST the proposal at vote.

Sorry, English is not my main language, so my grammar may be a bit rusty!

I am Portuguese, so my main language is not English. Yes, I live in the US, but I am not very strong with English. I do apologize! I did my best! :)

The weaker the condemnation, the more embarrassed DEN will be to bear it.

In that case, you'll probably want to post your proposal drafts to the forums first before submitting them from now on. That way, the other forum-goers could point out errors for you to fix, so the proposal will be better when you submit it.

It's only the latest to try...and it's on pace to likely pass.

*shrug*

The recent "Condemn DEN" sport/trend/meme/fad/fashion/etc. will continue after this one is repealed. The vociferous lobby that wants this passed refuses to understand condemns aren't actionable and won't change DEN's behavior for the better. It won't ban raiding, it won't shut down the region, it won't "send a message" of any kind to raiders, etc.

Condemn badges provide gamemap street cred and inspire them to greater and bigger operations. The WASC is creating the DEN monster and encouraging raiders in general, by rewarding them with badges.

But this falls on deaf ears, as someone is bound to pop-in and say, "I don't care, they deserve it, they're ruining the game, etc." They'll pound the lecturn and demand everyone vote for this. And so the masses will and it'll pass and you'll all cheer and the badge will get slapped on DEN — and 24 hours later DEN will take another few regions without breaking stride.

By this singular action you make it easier for us to do what we do, recruit to our colors, provide our narrative a bit more drama and theater, you give us a bit of "locker-room/bulletin board" inspiration and provide our story a bit more color and character. The WASC has now made us "Public Enemy #1," proving our claims and officially recognizing us as a force on the gamemap. It's the best PR a raider can get.

The facts on the gamemap, the number of people DEN can muster on it's operations, proves the anti-DEN lobby is dead wrong: condemning DEN doesn't weaken them, it grows them. Ever since the group reformed, it's been attacked continually by the WASC and has at the same time, grown exponentially quicker than it probably would have had you just let it alone.

If and until the game's creator decides raiding needs to go, and unless condemns become actionable pieces of gametype-altering legislation, raiding in general and groups like DEN in particular will continue to be part of the Nation States experience. And all the condemn resolutions you author in here won't make the slightest bit of difference.

A badge is a badge and it won't matter to them. They'll use it for recruitment and as a battleflag regardless of the overall quality of the legislation that passed it.

But, as a former DEN raider, I'm all for strengthening the gametype. So, I actually want to thank the WASC for it's continued efforts to condemn DEN. By this singular action you make it easier for us to do what we do, recruit to our colors, provide our narrative a bit more drama and theater, you give us a bit of "locker-room/bulletin board" inspiration and provide our story a bit more color and character. I can see where this is coming from, but I've never seen the point of these condemnation resolutions. Unless the nation is legitimately causing issues for the site (i.e. cheating, etc.), I don't promote nations being folded because people don't like their play style. It's unfair to them, really. No matter how shitty they are.

Let's see.

1. The wording is terrible. The resolution is too short to even bother to read.

2. This resolution will do nothing but give DEN a big black badge of honor in their eyes. If a raider region is condemned, they must've raided a ton.

3. Such a resolution like this, IIRC, was already tried before, and repealed. Hell, atleast that resolution was written better.

4. Condemnation resolutions have no point. It does no real damage to a region.

AGAINST.
