...somewhere along the line, a 1,000-vote gap opened up. Barring any extreme and unforeseen circumstances, this will be law by 9:00 Pacific time.

Nice job, Scion.

OOC: I'm truly shocked - really, truly - that this resolution has elicited so much of a negative reaction on ideological grounds. I can't even communicate my frustration because I'm so astounded that there are actually other human beings arguing from an OOC perspective that nulla poena sine lege is a gross infringement on rights. While I'm truly grateful to those that have expressed their support, both here and through voting, this is certainly a bitter victory at best.

OOC: Hurt, even? Anyways, I don't think you've won yet....there's still the repeal attempts to defeat. Still, congratulations!

No, we are not a nation of cat people. We're all humans (and a few annoying gnomes) here. The cat's just there because our king is such a genius, he saw that it would be a good military strategy to have a distractingly cute flag, to blind our enemies to (our) victory!
Technological level: FUTURE TECH. We also have MAGICAL TECH, and a lot of the people here still play with MEDIEVAL TECH and PRESENT TECH. We're cool that way.

Congrats to Sciongrad. I'm delighted to see this pass after what must have been over a year ??? of drafting, submissions, quorates, false starts etc.

"Although I rise quaking in fear of being brutally murdered by hordes of marauding released criminals from pre-industrial tribal oral legal systems that are simultaneously able to enforce the rule of law in compliance with WA legislation and for whom promulgating those laws would be inescapably complex, I must also pass on our congratulations to the Scionite(?) delegation. Nails chewed to the bone during the first three days of voting but an appropriate margin in the end."

Resolutions have passed by larger margins and got instarepealed. We'll see clearer after the first vote on a repeal attempt.

Texas Department of WA Affairs

On behalf of the Bestest Region in NationStates, Texas, we extend our warmest congratulations to Sciongrad for the passage of their latest resolution. However, it is my duty to inform this body that our Regional Delegate, NewTexas, cast his 36 votes AGAINST this resolution, based on publicly expressed opinions of citizens of Texas. In all, Texas WA members cast 49 votes against this resolution, and just 3 for.

^What he said. Murden, you have a single vote in the WA, and that likely will not sway the balance. Start campaigning.
In=character, Kaboomlandia is a World Assembly member and abides by its resolutions. If this nation isn't in the WA, it's for practical reasons.

I stand with Defwa wholeheartedly. It's quite appalling that nations would be opposing this piece of legislation on ideological issues so much that they feel it deserves an instarepeal for that.
