But our opinion on this matter is very much divided back at the Yakusan Foreign Ministry. We could, if we see suitable reason, come to a different conclusion for our vote on this proposal.

If we could clarify some wording, please:
Bears Armed Mission wrote:Defining the term ‘leaded fuel’ to mean any fuel mixture including organometallic compounds of Lead, or of any other metal of comparable or worse toxicity

We assume this to mean "fuel mixture including organometallic compounds of either (1) lead or (2) any other metal of comparable or worse toxicity", and not, "fuel mixture including either (1) organometallic compounds of lead, or (2) any other metal of comparable or worse toxicity". Yes?

In case it's not clear, the first definition would cover using organometallic compounds of, say, mercury, but would not cover the use of radioactive toxic fuels (which, in reactors, don't actually get emitted anyway), while the second would cover both.

Makes a difference to many space-faring nations, of course. We can't support a ban on nuclear fuels, especially if "vehicle" is taken to mean all vehicles (as clarified previously) and not just cars.

The former. Does the seconcd "of" really not make that clear enough?

(And remember that in the event of the interpretation being disputed within your nation it would, as usual, be up to your own nation's courts -- acting reasonably, and in good faith -- to make the decision...)

OOC: You're on the right way, but not in the 1982 as in the videogame, but in the present. Of course I know a leaded fuel car can work with unleaded fuel (even not modifying the engines, what can simply reduce its lifespan and performance), but these poor people has a lack of technology and technical knowledge that I'm trying to imitate. Probably there are technicians and engineers that knows the unleaded fuel technology, but bureaucracy and repression could affect the flow of information from experts to political elites.

Normlpeople wrote:OOC: Since Clover isn't a mechanic. Cats weren't on the older leaded vehicles, they are emissions only devices. Since GAR #257 already requires nations to take action to curb those, you are likely already using something similar...

OOC: Thanks, I'll read the GAR #257 to give my nation a slap on the wrist.

Normlpeople wrote:As far as making engines goes, its a simple change in material on the valve seats. Everything else is the same. Not really industry breaking.

OOC:Thank you very much for that info, but I already knew that. See my first paragraph

Thank you. This being at the head of the list right from when it was subnitted, and the only proposal in the list for most of the first 19 hours that it was there (out the c.27 hours that it took to reach quorum) probably helped.

In case anybody's curious about the extent of my lobbying: I TGed 290 delegates, targeting ones who had voted for my most recent resolution and/or that I knew to have 'Green' sympathies, with 253 of those messages getting through as against 37 blocked. Delegates with at least 1 'yonkh' (i.e. sixty-four) votes each were contacted individually, as were a few other delegates who have fewer votes but with whom the Bears have particularly good histories, the rest in batches of [mostly] 7 or 8 at a time. One delegate who was on my list of potential supporters (namely NewTexas) gave their approval very quickly, before I got that far down the list, and of course some delegates whom I didn't contact chose to support the proposal anyhows.

Congratulations for reaching quorum! And here, a little present from Mundiferrum.
Since we hope that this resolution will have an easy time passing, our King has decided to act a bit cocky with his present. Behold....Mundiferrum's only automobile built with the clear purpose of using only leaded fuel!
Gravey remotely turns on the vehicle. Large amounts of smoke belch out of its exhaust. To leaded fuel never being used again!
....
*Cough cough cough* Okay, this *cough cough cough* was a ba*cough COUGH cough*d idea..*cough cough cough*..

Drunk on champagne slurring her words.

Secretary! You... you should send that Ambassador a nice gift of ... of Hakii chocolates in the hospital. He's a good man! Though the leaded-ed car idea was not ... brilliant. By the way, if I may make a predica-diction, I think that our Committee of Fedora-ists will vote Yay in this vote. I can't promise anything! But ... I have a feeling ... what's that feeling ...

Yakus' opinion on this one is very much indecisive. We are unsure as how to cast our vote. The YEA advisers are meeting with the
Yakusan Foreign Ministry's WA committee to decide.

We are proud to stand up and support this fine resolution. We need to "get the lead out" and pass this much needed resolution. On the other hand, I am worried about the long term implications of this. Without lead in our petroleum, future generations of potential ambassadors will no longer be mentally impaired because of long term lead poisoning. Reasonable and rational resolutions might even be proposed and (gasp) passed. The power and control of the WA could increase dramatically.

Thank goodness ambassadors also have recreational drugs to keep them stupid.
