[DEFEATED] Liberate Capitalist Paradise

Postby Nominairistan » Tue Jul 08, 2014 11:54 am

Noting this Council's mission statement to spread interregional peace and goodwill, via force if necessary.

Declaring that the former of the two stated goals is more important to the international community than the latter

Acknowledging, therefore, that sometimes the latter must be sacrificed for the former, the World Assembly Security Council;

Recognises that the residents of Capitalist Paradise are not fulfilling the region's potential

Deciding that others could put Capitalist Paradise to better use

Observes the presence of one or more nations who are engaged in dubious practices in Capitalist Paradise

Hoping that one day this resolution will be able to contribute to the goal of fulfilling Capitalist Paradises' potential to the fullest

Accepting that this might take some time

Hereby Liberates Capitalist Paradise

I have absolutely nothing to do this at all. Pay no attention to the resolution linked here that you should all totally not approve.

This is as petty as the "Liberate Mall" proposal a couple days ago. Not very funny either.

Seriously people, if you don't like a proposal then actually argue it down with valid points, not with a proposal with zero ounces of humor.

I don't think this is a case of plagiarism so much as it is a case of someone starting a thread for someone else's proposal. It's common practice for someone to do so when the proposer fails to start one.

That is entirely the point of the proposal. If I flood the queue with resolutions friendly to my cause, it gives more time to combat resolutions I don't want getting to vote. It's the exact same tactic I used with Liberate The Greater German Reich and it works.

Well, like 80% of it. The other 20% is damaging Capitalist Paradise in the event their founder CTEs.

If your intent is to flood the queue, how about liberating regions like Monty Pythons Flying Circus? So that when you post it here I can say "Stop that, it's silly." But in my best Graham Chapman voice, of course.

It hadn't been submitted at the time this thread was started, though. The draft was posted in IRC, we all said "submit it!" and meanwhile someone else just came here to post it. Eh, whatever. I'm voting for the submission for the sake of it.

The ambassador believes that this proposal is a waste of everyone in the WA's time. Capitalist Paradise has an active founder, is not locked, and is open to any nation who wishes to join. For that reason we believe that this proposal should not be given any additional time.

If this passes, I might get some kind of award for shortest repeal ever: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=303999#p20875296

It's amusing that even in a simple repeal you're looking for an award.

You don't have to be aggressive and rude to be relevant in gameplay. While...certain elements of the community might embrace that behavior, it has never been important to participate. Chat with gameplayers. Hang out on IRC channels for various interregional organizations. Talk in the Gameplay Forum threads.

You don't need this fire and brimstone campaign to be important. The sad part is that outside of these circumstances, I think I *like* you. You have got a ton of repeal legislation submitted. I love repeals (for any reason). You sound like a logical thinker. You actually took action about an issue that bothers you rather than sit on your ass! That puts you head and shoulders over 99.99% of the community, in my opinion. Yet I submit a draft proposal for comment and suddenly I am hell-spawn. Be a devil's advocate! The grass is greener on the other side.

Wait, since the founder of Capitalist Paradise is still active, if he imposed a password on the region right now, would this proposal suddenly run afoul of rule 3? [ viewtopic.php?f=24&t=79106 ] Or would that be sort of akin to ex post facto (or something)?

Nope to both. You can still propose Liberations of founder passworded regions (as Liberations also prevent delegate imposed passwords).

I did this before with Liberate The Greater German Reich. :P

The ambassador strongly believes that this proposal is illegal and a waste of everyone in the Security Council's time. We would like to state that there is absolutely no reason to "liberate" Capitalist Paradise. The region holds free elections, does not have a password to block the region, and allows anyone to join. It is a downright shame that this proposal has even reached quorum. We will instruct our WA counterpart at Uchila Eru to vote AGAINST this shameful proposal as soon as we can and highly encourage other WA members to do the same.
