:palm:

It's about "unauthorized" distribution of nuclear equipment. If your government is selling it, then it's authorized distribution. You seem to misunderstand the resolution.

By nature of the WA, its the WA's job to do something as soon as the WA decides to do it.

No, ita about distribution of nuclear equipment that may be weaponized. Effectively banning all sale of nuclear weapons.

Unauthorized release, sir. From the resolution itself, emphasis mine:
2. Requires member nations take all necessary precautions to ensure their nuclear materials, technology and information that have the potential for weaponization are fully secured against unauthorized release,

Now read section three. It makes no allowance for authorized release. It orders that no nuclear material or knowledge be transferred if it is for weapons.

I disagree. It is absolutely imperative that the WA stop the proliferation of nuclear weapons, and the requisite technology in their design.

If you don't like it, remember membership in the WA is "voluntary"....

It states that transfer should be prevented if weaponisation is suspected.
A loophole would be, if you intend to transfer weaponised materials, then that would be legal, if questionable.

Against.

The initial assertion that nuclear energy is generally safe and clean is good enough to vote against. Now if it had started with say, DEPLORING the fact that many WA nations use nuclear technology to generate electricity, moving onto ACCEPTING nonetheless that some WA nations yadiyadiyada build on the case, weeelll, different story.

Nah Chester, enough of that irritating attitude of yours.

Membership in WA is voluntary, but choosing to try to repeal it is an equally valid choice. Not to mention this assembly is for people to voice their opinions, however unpleasant it is.

If you can't take it, be reminded that membership in the WA is perfectly voluntary, and if you choose to leave, we won't walk you out the door...

That's straight up non compliance and Defwa does not do that. If you expect something to happen, you are still suspecting it. By our interpretation, it even bans the receipt of such things from non WA nations if weaponization is intended from the transferred material.

Defwa will be supporting the repeal effort immediately.

So everyone keeps telling me. Every time our national leader Friar Cadfail thinks of the voluntary nature of the WA, a Tzorsland Battlestar generally comes out of warp and parks in an orbit over our nation. They keep saying that they are on a "goodwill" mission. But I don't trust any nation not in the WA (and I don't trust any nation in the WA either).

Not really, considering that the law only does what it says.

That's probably a healthy attitude around here.
