[PASSED] Commend Skydip

Postby Abacathea » Fri Jul 12, 2013 1:10 pm

I suspect it's highly likely I may get jumped on fairly quickly for this lol, but anyone who know's my dabbling in the Security Council knows that I've had to abandon several drafts because in the end I'd chosen the wrong recipient or hadn't done my homework.

This however, despite 'dips claims of being a "very bad man" seems to just make sense to me. As usual all feedback considered, even the "not on your life brother" one's.

Image
Commend Skydip

A resolution to recognize outstanding contribution by a nation or region.

Category: Commendation | Nominee: Skydip | Proposed by: Abacathea

Description: Recognizing the purposes of the security council to denounce, liberate and commend regions and nations deemed worthy of the relevant accolades.

Believing: That the nation of Skydip has earned the right to be commended by this august assembly through their constant and evident strives to better not only the World Assembly nations but also nations who find themselves enthralled in it's murky depths.

Impressed: With the nations authorship of several fine Security Council resolutions by the WA representative of SkyDip, Ambassador Elias Greyjoy, including a Commendation, Condemnation, and multiple Repeals.

Admiring: The good work Skydip has done for their own nation including being among the top 1% of the world for least corrupt governance, top 5% for happiest citizens and 1% for welfare for it's state, highlighting exactly how respectable and ultimately commendable this nation is.

Further recognizing: Not just the tireless efforts Skydip has provided to ensuring the residents of it's own nation are happy, safe and well looked after, but admiring the great work Skydip has done for new nations entering the often dread worthy Security Council in terms of being a guiding figure and supportive elder statesmen of this branch of the World Assembly.

Believing: That Skydip in their role as Delegate of Europeia will only be able to further benefit other nations and the Security Council as time progresses through their knowledge and approachability and that this commendation will further cement and acknowledge the work Skydip has put in and will likely continue to put in, to the world community as a whole.

Acknowledging: The heavy weight SkyDip carries in the international community as an expert in matters of the Security Council and other areas such as military tactics, inter-regional foreign policy, and knowledge of the world at-large

Overlooking: The semi badass portrayal this nation lends itself to in the international community for the above more laudable pursuits and achievements.

Hereby;
Commends Skydip.

Just a brief comment from me:
Description: Recognizing the purposes of the security council to denounce, liberate and condemn regions and nations deemed worthy of the relevant accolades.

Shouldn't condemn be commend? Denounce would serve the same purpose as 'condemn', one would think. This clause just doesn't read right to me.

Meh, fairly neutral on this one. Dip and myself have had some pretty decent wars in the Security Council, but we have also agreed on a lot of things as well (such as a firm opposition to liberating Nazi Europe).

Overall I think dip has done some fairly good work in his time. I would have liked him to have authored a GA resolution, and added that to his portfolio, but what do you do?

At this time I would tenatively support this one.

That's a far more positive response than I expected from you, United Federation.

We agree that SkyDip has done good work in his time here and is far more experienced in writing SC resolutions than almost anyone else. We commend him for that (and having the Majora's Mask moon as his flag :) ) and the work that he does helping resolution writers, but we see the idea of an SC commendation on this basis as marginal at best. We may support this if the resolution is improved, though.

I have a lot of respect for SkyDip, and I personally think he's a pretty great guy, so I'll put aside my general dislike for the Security Council and lend this my support. Best of luck to the author.

He's generally really helpful in the SC forum, and always civil with his criticism as well. Unfortunately, he probably won't want to lend his advice to this one. :p

There is no "standard" drafting period for anything. You can take as long as you want, and declare your intentions to submit once the conversation slows (or has just gone on for so long you can't wait any longer for everyone to calm down); it's just when authors seem overeager to submit after only a few days of drafting that players complain.

What's the card uni designed? Oh yes...

Given that this has indeed slowed down feedback wise, and I'm quite content with the piece itself, going to submit with a small campaign (only have "500" stamps) to hopefully get it to quorum.

I would have waited a bit longer for some more feedback, personally. It's always worthwhile to wait a while after the feedback slows to submit.

First, his name is SkyDip, not Skydip. You actually use them interchangeably.

I have no doubt this will pass, but it seems strange to me that you felt the need to mention his mediocre efforts in getting ranking badges, as the most egregious of several more minor issues I have. In the unlikely event this *doesn't* pass I'll expand on this. SkyDip's done some good work in the SC, although his repeals really were gimmies. Commend AMOM was very good.

Commend worthy? Not so sure. Maybe in 12 months if he keeps up his efforts. I'll ABSTAIN.

I have since realised regarding your point of the inter changeable nation name although I do hope that minor formatting issue shouldn't overall affect things. Should it do obviously I will rectify it.

Aside from that though, I genuinely do believe the commendation is deserved and an awful lot of telegram feedback reflects that. Apparently SkyDip is quite well respected.
