Is the first draft hidden in a spoiler as a mark that you're working on a 2nd draft?

Well, we'll need something to comment on. Things hidden in spoilers are generally "only for those interested of how this thing has evolved". If it's the draft you want to improve, leave it visible.

(D) Outstanding examples of the development and/or history of astronomic features, including planets, stars, and asteroids

You want to designate entire planets as protected and preserved sites?

I don't see the need for this clause. How do you promote tourism on a comet that may only be visible once a generation, or a star? I think you're biting off more than you can chew.

Also, the very end of the proposal (World Heritage Sites) seems like it was left over for an earlier draft...?

OOC: Not to mention most modern tech nations couldn't do any sort of space tourism (possibly apart from the orbit) nor really promote it.

@Grays Harbor: Not necessarily. A physical site showing the development of that planet would be protected though, i.e. a volcanic site which shows the period in time when the planet was covered in volcanoes

@Point Breeze: I took out that clause, and fixed the last sentence.

Depends on your planet. Not all planets go through the same periods of time. But wouldn't "shows development of planet" contain everything? Because, you know, it's constantly developing. Event sapient beings' actions are part of that development.

(Also, most volcanoes tend to get to be volcanoes in peace as is. :P)

It's unlikely the preservation of a volcano is likely to be affected, not many property developers tend to look on them as viable development sites.

@ Araraukar: That was just an example. And no, it wouldn't. The resolution only covers outstanding examples of the geomorphic development of a world.

OOC: 1) Ease off the RL references, they're only very partially applicable.
2) In NS, the WA resolutions do what they say. In RL the "spirit of it" can always be taken into consideration. Doesn't necessarily work like that in here.

It doesn't make member nations promote tourisms, especially if it is a hazard to the people who are touring...

No, but it says nothing about putting tourists in harm's way, either. Come to think of it, maybe we should instead send them on a Jammydragon-tour, "See the magnificent beasts from up close!" and refrain from mentioning that going anywhere near a breeding pair tends to be a one-way trip.

I'm sure our tourist bureau can come up with more of these. Thank you for the great idea! Extremophiles should love it too. At least until the bit where they die.

Fine. I'll add a @#$%^&* clause that says "Nations may not put tourists in harm's way." There you are, Mr. Letter of the Law

That would be "miss" (*points to siggy*), and I didn't really especially expect you to change the text for it. It was just amusing to me. (The dropping tourists into a volcano after getting their money part, that is.)

What annoys be is that someone who puts out a legitimate WA proposal gets criticism that was only for fun...

What nonsense. I'm trying to improve the resolution, for God's sake.

Well, it is still a valid point, but I just pushed it to the extreme for fun. If you do include dangerous areas (such as volcanoes) on your list, and require nations to encourage tourists to visit those areas, my point still stands.

I'm not requiring nations to make tourists visit those areas, just encouraging nations to promote tourism and only so far so that they don't put tourists in harms way (or they sign a waiver, yah yah yah...)
