Please use correct grammar. The word is "its," not "it's." You want to be using the possesive.

You'll find it was actually an overlooked typo which survived the drafting process. As a rule my S.P.A.G is usually pretty on the mark. But thank you for highlighting it for me, although it has been noted already. :)

OOC: If you really want to know the effect this will have on your nation, look at the category. Environmental proposals hurt the economy, plain and simple.

OOC: fibble is correct. While I state in the act it will boost economy that was in terms of job creations and RP guidelines etc... However as fibble has pointed out in respect of official statistics environmental will damage economy statistics.

While, as a nation, we are all for renewable energy, we cannot force nations to install renewable energy stations, even if they have the areas to do so. Sorry, we sit against this resolution.

The esteemed delegate for Aligned Planets, Jaresh-Inyo, takes to the stand.

We must register our dismay at the passing of this bill in its current form. I have been instructed by our beloved leader, President Roslin, to seek out fellow delegates who feel similarly to work towards a repeal of the legislation as it stands.

However, congratulations to [nation=Abacathea[/nation] for the successful passage of the Act!

OOC: When you join WA, all the previously passed resolutions are your laws, over your own national laws. The only thing that they don't affect is your nation's stats, since you weren't in the WA at the time they went into effect.

Jaresh-Inyo, delegate for Aligned Planets takes to the floor.

We recognise our most esteemed colleague, the Ambassador to Abacathea and thank them for their considered remarks. The position of the United Federation remains the same; whilst we support the Bill in principle, we feel the current legislation leaves room for interpretation and application. We would welcome the opportunity to work with the delegate for Abacathea, and other interested parties, to bring the Bill back with further safeguards and provisions. However, this is not a cause for us here in the United Federation to champion alone..

"Congratulations on passing this Act, Sir Jon. It is always a pleasure to see a bill we support be passed into law, and even moreso when it is set to defend the Environment from the wickedness of apathetic societies."

No, no, no!

Postby Aligned Planets » Wed Jan 16, 2013 11:59 am

Jaresh-Inyo steps up to the podium.

With respect to the esteemed delegates for Novum Luna and Honkong, my lady the President of the United Federation of Aligned Planets has decreed that we work to repeal the legislation only after a consensus has been agreed amongst our dear friends here in the World Assembly. We seek not to destroy the idea behind Renewable Energy Installations but to improve upon the original with careful forethought and much discussion. President Roslin would prefer to see a new draft Bill agreed before a repeal is sought as we do not object in principle to the legislation.

We also have grave concerns about the content of the Repeal Bill.

The Act also fails to account for the safety measures in place by the Nuclear Industry since accidents like Chernobyl or Three Mile Island.

We are not familiar with these accidents; did they occur in the delegate Novum Luna's country? We would perhaps advise that the delegate concentrate on improving their own safety measures if their nuclear plants are dilapidated.

These are real-word examples, not NS-examples.

..nations cannot be solely functional off of Renewable sources.

We would question the mandatory language behind this clause. Is the Bill suggesting it is an impossibility for any nation to be solely reliable upon renewable energy? This is an aspiration target for our own nation and are currently operating at a 72% reliability upon renewable energy exclusively with aim to reach 90% within 50 years. There is no limit to our potential.

..no land can be devoted to "REI"s, as land that may be used for that, would also be used for such things as farming, production, or built civilization.

Again, we would object to the delegate from Novum Luna instructing us on how we may or may not assign land-use within our own nation.

Bound by the convictions of our President, I must issue a request for support from fellow delegates to prevent this repeal going through in its current form. I would also reiterate our support for a new Bill and continue to seek out fellow-minded nations who would work with us to improve the legislation.

Thank-you.

Regarding the last repeal's comments:

The Act also fails to account for the safety measures in place by the Nuclear Industry since accidents like Chernobyl or Three Mile Island.

We don't fail to account for it, our issue was nowt to do with Nuclear energy minus the preamble, even if nuclear energy had a million fail-safes (which it doesn't) we still would have pushed the R.E.I.

..nations cannot be solely functional off of Renewable sources.

And we never asked them to be.

..no land can be devoted to "REI"s, as land that may be used for that, would also be used for such things as farming, production, or built civilization.

No land, really? No land can be set aside for power generation? Well you better hope none of your pre-existing facilities suffer a natural disaster and are completely ruined, the current land they sit upon and all....
