In my country it is traditional for a father to hand down his hunting rifle to his son. This Tradition stems from a time when Diogris was covered in forest and was tribal... Then we chopped the trees down.. The Tradition still stands however. Why do you want to take my people's culture away from them?

Because they hate your culture. You're clearly savages who need to be civilized by having your guns taken away.

Some of us rational countries should start drafting a repeal.

Good day! I am pleased to dedicate my first international communication to conveying the thoughts of the Idantir Royal Circle on this matter. Please excuse any faux pas included in this message. Our nation is still new, we have no professional diplomats, and I was just drafted into this job today!

"We appreciate and respect any effort to reduce casualties of any kind, including accidental casualties from firearms. Unfortunately, for several reasons we feel compelled to vote against this resolution.

1) Our nation does not recognize a "national threshold of majority" of any kind. All citizens are given the same rights, responsibilities, and privileges regardless of age or any other metric. Thus it would not be possible for our nation to implement this policy, because there aren't any children as defined by this proposal in our nation.
2) Our citizens have the right to pursue activities in whatever manner they see fit, without arbitrary rules and restrictions, unless the activity would result in the intentional harm of another. Supporting this proposal would run counter to that right, and violate the first self-given responsibility of the Royal Circle: to protect the civil rights of our citizens.
3) The opinion of the Royal Circle is that this is an issue best left to local communities, individual Circles/families, and the people that directly handle firearms. In our opinion, there is no compelling reason to make this an national issue, much less an international one. Further, we question the effectiveness of a mandate that has to account for a number of conflicting cultures and traditions, as shown by Clauses 4 and 5."

Yours,

The whole resolution is micromanagement.

Many proposals about "children" actually define that term as people under an age or threshold of majority, and then proceed to impose requirements regarding the treatment of those individuals. Such resolutions simply do not apply to nations such as yours and mine which have no age/threshold of majority, as there are no "children," using the definitions in the resolutions, for us to regulate. GAR4 is another good example of this.
