What, proper diplomatic conduct? And how do you define that if not by seeing what diplomats are doing? Proper diplomatic conduct is that I can throw you out a window and not get arrested because of some vague abstract called diplomatic immunity. Proper diplomatic conduct is petty tit-for-tat and accusations of communism. Proper diplomatic conduct is puerile snickering over shots of whiskey while making snide remarks about Aram Koopman, or the Kennyites, or the Eternal Kawaii, or what have you! What the hell kind of thing is proper diplomatic conduct to teach children?

You don't know what proper means.

I'm hoping defenestration is part of proper diplomatic behavior.

Though I think issuing rubber desks may reduce headaches for the little tykes. I've seen some displays of head banging that would make a thrash metal concert look relaxed.

I'd probably vote for this. I needed some kind of new way to punish Cerberion's troubled youth.

I don't think this would fail the 'secondary WA' rule. It isn't a creation of a new world government, its a simulation.

I'd say a resolution is necessary, the WA should be the one creating a Model WA.

Hmm, it's a bit borderline in my opinion, but it doesn't appear to say it must be role-played at the forums. Regardless, it should be for member countries to decide whether to take part in a model WA.

While we applaud the correct spelling and general "nice" tone of this. The Kingdom of Aetrina would vote against this in the unlikely event it came to a vote. The WA is barely tolerated in our Nation as it is and to perpetuate it with the "next generation" is absurd.

Alright, but whatever you do, don't turn around. The door is open and there's a wild orgy in the office across the hall.

A member of the Christian Democratic delegation crosses the hall and begins teaching about chastity. The ambassadors who had been participating in the orgy are now turned off and become even more vexed when the Christian Democratic representative begins showing gruesome pictures of genitalia of people infected with sexually transmitted diseases. One woman who was being double teamed when the Christian Democratic representative entered the room then vomits in the lap of another woman who then runs down the hallway crying.

The States-Federation certainly does not, as this is not an area where we feel it is the World Assembly's business to be involved in didactic enterprises like this, nor do we feel that any kind of internationally-mandated organization should have any sort of mandate in our educational systems or those of other member-states.

Our delegation would also suggest that the ambassador from Mahaj kindly unclench his sphincter and crack a smile for once; not everything is full of gravitas and the solemnity of international diplomacy. It may be a good lesson to take: if you want people to take you seriously, sometimes you must be slightly unserious.

A MODEL WORLD ASSEMBLY

The World Assembly,

RECOGNIZING the goal of this body, the General Assembly, is to improve the world,

BELIEVING the best way this can be done is for delegations to be educated, both now and in the future,

Alright.

Mahaj wrote:CHOOSING, in this resolution, to focus on future potential delegations, namely children,

Wait a minute...

Mahaj wrote:BELIEVING that people, including children, should be educated about the World Assembly, and the best way to do this is through simulations of the World Assembly,

Now hang on a second...

Mahaj wrote:REQUIRES member nations to educate people about the role and doings of the World Assembly,

I can do this without the intervention of the WA, and I imagine that most WA nations would agree.

Mahaj wrote:CREATES the organization to be known as the Model World Assembly, or MWA for short,

IDENTIFIES MWA as a simulation of WA meetings and discussions,

REQUIRES that nations implement national MWA conferences, which are gatherings where people simulate a WA discussion with the goal of passing resolutions and 'improving the world', and also where they can learn and practice proper diplomatic behavior,

ENCOURAGES individual schools in nations to implement MWA clubs in their school,

Why? Why is the WA worthy of this attention? My nation has exactly four people who need to know anything about the WA: myself, my two Aides, and my Director Of NonCompliance.

Mahaj wrote:CREATES an international MWA conference to be held, here at the World Assembly Headquarters, where people from all over the world can engage in a simulation of WA discussion, using proper diplomatic behavior,

I challenge you to look me in the eyes and tell me that the children will be well served by visiting this building.

Mahaj wrote:HOPING that with the creation of MWA, more children will be interested in the WA and more educated about the WA.

As marvelous as this goal is, it feels slightly... creepy. Nations can choose what to teach their children about the WA, indeed the individual districts within Mallorea and Riva (with limited oversight) are capable of doing so.

Um, you can impose a minimum age. I'd imagine by the time they're thirteen they're ready.

I dispute that claim, I was in my 30s when I first started here and I wasn't ready for the Festering Snakepit.

An MWA is definitely a good idea, but it would be great if the resolution also urged nations to have their own mock assemblies. Getting people involved in their government is important at every level.

^This.

The resolution doesn't seem to mask any "mini-tyrannies" that frequently fly out of World Assembly proposals, plus the proposal gives the kiddos a great look at how international politics is so garbled up. :P

A model of a simulation of a simulation? We need to go deeper...

Seriously though, I would vote against this if it came up for vote. I think the WA is doing a fine job as is.

I support this, however, perhaps a clause should be added that will help foster peaceful diplomatic discussion among children in the mock WA as opposed to the blood-thirsty, gnome abusive ambassadors currently being employed?

We abuse the Gnomes? i thought we just had them around as snacks. Anyway I agree that it would be horribly irresponsible to expose children to the atrocities commited in this building on a daily basis. I am surprised that we are not in violation of our own war crimes acts.

My 11-year old son said I should support this, as long as he gets to be Dr. Denis Leary. I am therefore quite concerned about this proposal.
