POW = Prisoner of War

Yes, but most of us consider taking noncombatants as POW's to be a war crime.

Its not hard. The hallmark of slavery is the complete inability of the slave to end the state of servitude at will. Everything else is just slavery with extra steps. Well they're forced into it (in Al-Islam only POWs can be enslaved) and gotta work until either they free themselves or are freed. Do...

We've had this conversation with Amin over and over again. Basically Islamic slavery allows slaves to sign a contract with their master setting a price to buy their freedom, and Shariah courts are required to honor it. Somehow this makes islamic slavery fundamentally different from every other form...

I see absolutely no reason not to have well-defined terms in a discussion. Vague concepts are good for nothing except the justification of absurdities. I agree with you but the saying that slaves having the power to not be a slave anymore and making the whole process not slavery sounds like a minus...

Does RWDT rep Tulsi Gabbard? Well, she's one of the only Democrats who recognizes that remaining in Afghanistan for 18 years is insanity. So she's certainly better than most of her colleagues. Also, she's hot so that's a nice bonus. She's also the only democrat who wants a negotiated end to the cul...

"Hide" her immigrant heritage? Now stop being silly. She is assimilating into American culture like any responsible immigrant ought to do. Of course, I guess racist bigots will not accept her, but their opinion is better ignored. Immigrants shouldn't assimilate at all. That's effed up the...

Did you read what I ssid? Yep. No, you can't. Voluntarily choosing to labor for another without compensation is not servitude in the context of slavery discussions. Doing so without the ability to revoke the initial arrangement is servitude. One is a gratuitous performance revocable at any time. Th...

If we want to try to extract even more productivity for the economy, it isn't enough to have near full employment like is the case for the US economy during Donald Trump's presidency. We need to perhaps try to utilize the under 5% of the population that isn't employed for whatever reason, and the p...

Seriously, the amount of folks (usually leftists) in this thread accusing him of harassment is hilarious. Do any of you have actual proof that he met the legal standard for harassment under Colorado law? Because if so, I'd love to see it. He likely didn't. Colorado sets a high bar for legal harassm...

Well the USA in the late 50s early 60s still had state intervention, although a moderate level of it.

Less than today's France, though.

To an extent. It's always a more cautious choice to simply play within the rules and follow the life choices set out for you. Yes if you are weak. No wonder the greatest norm-breakers are found only among the elites and the underclass..and that in some societies such as China the elites often origi...

Hmm. I definitely believe his actions should be illegal, although it would appear that non-child-sexual-exploitation charges wouldn't stick because of Colorado law. Although 15 year olds aren't full adults with the full ability to make their own decisions, they're more than old enough to know what ...

But a nice society is simply nicer to live in. Right but unless a society is very small one person defecting does not make much difference, that is, the litterer does not have to sit in trash. To an extent. It's always a more cautious choice to simply play within the rules and follow the life choic...

Let me be clear: I believe he should be charged with harassment, indecent exposure, and any other applicable crimes, but not with child sexual exploitation. Criminal harassment is exceptionally narrow though, and in Colorado, there's a very significant criminal element that's missing (hence why the...

Problem: a sufficiently knowledgeable person is also likely to know that them violating social norms, even if they're not caught, would result in the degradation of society, so they would be incentivized not to violate social norms, and even to enforce social norms. >Implying that sufficiently know...

A sufficiently knowledgeable person knows that they can get away with violating social norms if they don't get caught 4. Due to 3, a sufficiently knowledgeable person is likely to be ...

A fifteen year old isn't a man yet, you're right, but I'd argue that "he's a child" is just as wrong here. And yet he was charged with child sexual exploitation regarding keeping pictures of these mysterious not adults and also not children his own age and older. Hmm. Let me be clear: I b...

Nope. I really am a white picket fences and obedience type, and probably would be even if I were an atheist. Many of which were deliberate. It's debateable. I don't think there's a lot of evidence besides the absurdity of the situation itself that the Holodomor was deliberate. I've posted a lot on the evidence for it being the consequence of government incompetence. There'd be a lot of coincidences stacki...
