401st Ostehern concluded

DECEMBER 14 2020 | FNN News Desk | Porohare

Two days of Ostehern celebrations across the country, blessed by surprisingly comfortable weather, are coming to an end. Authorities estimate that over a million Osters visited the country's parks, national sites, and urban attractions. For the first time in his term, President Den Heyes could not come to the Aastrehe tehn'temar commemoration event in central Haalban due to his physical situation. Prime Minister Brahurer attended instead.

Yesterday also marked the end of the traditional second-period of mourning over the two Oster soldiers who were killed three years ago in Lovsk, Ostehern 2017. The two families hosted a small gathering with relatives and close friends at the Brukhjmehr residence in Saard. Off in Lovsk, troops stationed across the island had to remain alert due to terror threats, and holiday events were shortened or cancelled.

Brahurer on Balnik's Faronna Islands Plan: "Encourages Hostility"

DECEMBER 14 2020 | FNN security commentator Dina Mahkhjer | Porohare

Prime Minister Elena Brahurer spoke to the press at a government meeting today, and referred to the situation in Faronna Islands following Balnik's announcement of its Faronna Islands Development Plan. The plan was announced less than a week after Balnik suddenly occupied the economic zone, which it used to share with Roendavar since 1983.

"Balnik has been a destabilizing factor in the region for quite a while," Brahurer said. "Their actions against the Roendavarian side in the past year were left without a proper response and they got it as a signal to go ahead and escalate the situation on the ground." She referred to the intrusion of Roendavarian airspace a few months ago and its military mobilization in the past months. "The occupation itself is heavily disputed, so announcing plans to develop the area after the Roendavarians said they would take this to the ICJ - That is intentionally encouraging hostility. Balnik should re-think its strategy," the Prime Minister concluded. Roendavar's government had stated its intention to file a case on the matter on December 9th, a day after Balnik's surprise step.

Officials in Balnik used the nation's energy crisis as an excuse to quickly promote the development of the islands. Some claim that Balnik's failures in nuclear projects was the main reason for this bold move. In 2018 Balnik announced the construction of a new Uranium enrichment plant which should have already started operation, but international sources could not confirm such a plant ever went online. Some rumors put the blame on Oster secret sabotage of the project, orchestrated by the Vaalar. Similar rumors spread in the early 2000's, when a series of incidents delayed Aprosia's nuclear project. Such a campaign, of course, has never been confirmed by any government office.

CEO Frust on OCES' Regional Activities

DECEMBER 14 2020 | Dansj Ande Lihnier | Lindastir

OCES CEO Alen Frust elaborated on some of his corporation's efforts in the next few years during a talk on the matter in Lindastir. Host Lara Kohler confronted Frust on OCES' second "disappointing" annual report - in the words of Sijrahn Si Ardner - which he himself presented a month ago.

"I am not going to deny I find it disappointing as well," Frust said, "but OCES is a dynamic company and minor falls along the way are inevitable. We know how to do the job." Kohler asked to hear about OCES' current major regional projects; his reply is summarized below.

OCES' main focus is currently on a few key operations across The Western Isles:

Construction and equipment of a dual-unit nuclear reactor, as part of Athara Magarat's coal phase-out plan. The first unit went online during 2019 and the second has reached the third stage of construction. "We are actually ahead of planning with the control systems, but behind planning with physical assembly at the site," Frust said.

The Roendavar Deal, which includes assistance in construction of a single power plant in Manzhesta. "We have completed the main vessel and exchangers, and are preparing to install most of the main equipment during the next year."

Operation of several nuclear facilities across Vancouvia, including Illa Isle, through OCES' partial control of Soldotna World Energy. According to Frust, the Vancouvian company's 2018 'Narwhalia Deal' remains an issue between parties. "The [Vancouvian - A.L.] government had its reasons and the partnership included several agreements that cover this," he said, "but we protested some of their procedures and discussions are still ongoing."

And what Frust called "the routine projects", which include assistance and operation of reactors in nations like Verdon, Noronica and Dormill and Stiura; and Uranium mining in Ainslie, Athara Magarat, and other places.

CEO Frust neglected to mention his corporation's role in the production and maintenance of reactors for the Dagordh Class nuclear submarines, made by Hunter Defense Systems in Noronica, and the failure of the destructive and expensive deposit survey in the Argus savannah.

More Arrests in the Hirten Case; Two Killed in CIB Raid

DECEMBER 4 2020 | FNN security commentator Dina Mahkhjer | Lovsk

The East Lovsk Police Force revealed this evening that six additional individuals were arrested in relation to the Hirten bombings, the last of which occurred only three weeks ago. According to the ELPF release, all suspects are workers of the Rovka port and will be accused of transporting firearms.

In a related incident - two were killed in a CIB raid on a compound in Rovka. Military spokesman said the two were killed in a blast caused by explosives stored there; this is supported by eye witness accounts. Five local residents reported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Lovsk Governor Richter recently suggested transferring more responsibilities from the military to the ELPF in order to diminish friction between the soldiers and local residents. "In the spirit of gradually relieving the Oster military from certain tasks, we started negotiations for the purchase of special equipment for the police force," Richter said last week in a press conference. Last March the ELPF purchased 80 additional Light Armoured Personnel Carriers from the Oster government, and on September the Levenburg Government decided to allow Oster SIGINT contractor ElectroFiber to operate in the eastern areas.

Protest Against Minister Dulikh Continues Despite Storm

DECEMBER 4 2020 | FNN News Desk | Porohare

Protests against Minister of Defense Aarin Dulikh continued this weekend, despite harsh conditions in the capital due to a cold storm. about 2,000 people demonstrated in front of the Ministry's offices in the city center, and a smaller group tried to block the exits from the Minister's official residence.

The public campaign directed at Minister Dulikh began in early 2020, when he refused to resign following severe corruption charges against him. Many opposition members, public figures and leading columnists already called for his resignation. Musician Aamit Sjeherin, who usually attends the demonstrations, announced recently that he would contribute financially to the protest movement. He ended his statement with the slogan 'Fric did it, why can't you?', referring to former Minister of Rural Development, Aarin Fric, who resigned immediately following the presentation of the 'Land Deal' report.

Minister Dulikh claims that the charges against him have been "contaminated" by some of the investigators and witnesses. "The Minister never gained personal profit from the deals and only worked to position the Ministry's assets in a manner that would promote Oster National Defense interests," the defense team stated a few days ago.

Government Fails to Appoint New League Delegate

DECEMBER 4 2020 | FNN political commentator Alen Maalsjer | Porohare

Opposition representative in the Foreign Affairs committee, Gehl Birkner, attacked chairman Vehes for delaying discussions on the League delegacy for additional six months. Delegate Jeh Maalder and his staff were fired soon after the early-2019 transition of government; the government has refused to name a replacement and instead insisted on replacing members of the committee itself in claims of political bias.

Birkner interrupted the chairman at the start of the meeting, as Vehes revealed that the coalition is postponing the discussion to January. "You [Brahurer's government - A.M.] have been dragging the process in a manner that justifies thorough investigation," Birkner called. Vehes ignored but responded after the meeting. "If Birkner thinks I've done something wrong, he can complain through the formal channels. In the meantime, we have a country to run and his party is purposefully setting absurd conditions on the matter [of committee members election - A.M.]."

Former delegate Thaamas Jeh Maalder has been working for the regional institutions in the I.D. for the past few months, and he agreed to speak on protocol for the first time since the events. "We [the delegacy staff - A.M.] had plans and initiatives, things that followed Prime Minister Dorias' line, that Brahurer probably didn't like."

"More people should read Dr. Si Braant's articles," Jeh Maalder added. Dr. Dehren Si Braant has been one of the Brahurer government's main critics. "Osters are generally not used to such misconduct, but it's happening." He refused to say if he would run for the Darna sometime in the near future.

The Mokov Crisis - Photos from The League

FNN photographer Mark Lehofer returned from the I.D. with new photos from the discussions on the Mokov Crisis and Resolution 20. "The atmosphere is tense. 7 KILLED IN ROVKA BOMBIMG, THE DEADLIEST IN YEARS

NOVEMBER 12 2020 | FNN security commentator Dina Mahkhjer | Lovsk

7 people were killed and 11 injured in an explosion this morning in Rovka, Lovsk. Among the dead were 4 local residents, two CIB officers, and an Oster citizen; three of the wounded are still treated at the nearby Dorter Medical Center. According to the East Lovsk Police Force, a bomb concealed in the trunk of a parked motorcycle detonated when the two officers were on the adjacent sidewalk. The blast also caused severe damage to several parked vehicles and a shop.

The bombing, assumed to be the work of the Hirten group, was the deadliest since December 2017. Similar attacks in the past months resulted in the death of over ten officers and Oster contractors, which experts believe could be part of a deliberate campaign. So far the ELPF has arrested five locals in relation to the blast, and more arrests are expected in the next few days.

In her short statement today following the attack, Prime Minister Brahurer reiterated her call to the Levenburg government to crackdown on terrorism, referring to the event as "murder in broad daylight". Officials in Levenburg said in response that the ELPF has been put in charge of the Hirten case a few weeks ago already, and that they "simply do not have more resources" available for such an operation.

Dr. Dehren Si Braant, who has been monitoring the Lovsk conflict since its inception, commented on the attack: "The Hirten have been around for almost two years now and they are getting bolder in recent months. This could also indicate that the military is failing to deal with the insurgency with the tools it currently deploys, or that the co-operation with the ELPF is not working."

VOHLRIN'S 'LAND DEAL' REPORT PRESENTED TO DARNA: "A DAY OF SHAME"

NOVEMBER 1 2019 | FNN political commentator Alen Maalsjer | Porohare, Ostehaar

Attorney General Mark Vohlrin presented his final report on the 'Land Deal' case to the Darna this morning, marking the end of a two-year long investigation. In what would probably be remembered as one of the Oster administration's lowest moments, the Attorney General read aloud written testimonies regarding Minister of Defense Aarin Dulikh's misconduct, as he sat in the room a few meters from him. Vohlrin concluded his presentation with a few personal words, calling today "a day of shame". The classified section of the report was presented afternoon in closed-doors by Kala Sjvaher, head of the special investigation committee. Both officials in the committee and Ministry of Defense advisers agree that it is relatively insignificant and does not change the general conclusions.

The report - 984 pages long - details how the government's Rural Development Foundation (RDF) was allowed to amass over 4 billion KR (roughly 2.8 billion USD) in illegal off-shore accounts, while investing only a few of the revenues in the organization's stated purpose - the development of rural lands across Ostehaar. The illegal revenues were used mainly to fund construction and infrastructure works at several government and military sites, mainly in Ostehaar and Lovsk.

RDF directors and a few government officials and defense contractors also used a portion of the funds for their personal interests. Minister Dulikh himself, according to the report, accumulated shares worth nearly 12 million USD through his involvement in the 'Land Deal'. Attorney General Vohlrin called for the Minister's resignation, today after the morning session. "The evidence are clear and convincing," Vohlrin said, "I have no doubt he will have to face trial soon." Minister of Rural Development, Aarin Fric, who was in-charge of the RDF and was implicated in fraud and corruption charges, already promised that he would resign first thing next week.

Head of the opposition, Mikahel Si Ardner, congratulated Vohlrin and his staff for their work and called the conclusions "yet another proof that this government should step down." Si Ardner has been the most vocal and decisive voice on the matter since it was first reported two years ago. In his speech at the Darna today following Vohlrin's presentation, he accused interim Prime Minister Elena Brahurer of "holding on to her seat" and said that although she was not involved in the case itself, she still has to take responsibility over this failure. "If all these months you were only looking for a ladder to step down from office, now is the right time," he concluded. Brahurer replied to Si Ardner at the end of the session, calling his words "unreasonable".

DFO spokesman Lihr Vortisj was quick to announce that all military projects connected to the 'Land Deal' will be suspended, and that an internal investigation will be established in order determine if high-ranking officers were involved in misconduct.

Vancouvian Congress Passes Bill to Increase Military Budget by 20%

On June 13, the Vancouvian Congress issued a declaration absorbing the Vancouvian Occupation Zone of Charbagnia as Vancouvian Agnion. In the past few months, radicalized anti-Vancouvian groups have directed multiple small scale terrorist actions against the Vancouvian and Agnionese defense forces, as well as civilians, resulting in an estimated 780 casualties. In an effort to curb these and other terrorist activities, including on San Javier and Illa Isle, Congress passed a $5B re-appropriation bill today to increase the Vancouvian National Army and Vancouvian Special Forces budget each by roughly 20% in the coming fiscal year.

Multiple think-tanks and analysts have discovered that this will degrade Vancouvia into a budget deficit for the first time since 2003. Congress has emphasized that a budget deficit is in some sense healthy, and that a limited amount of borrowing will improve monetary availability, cash flows, and investment in the country's infrastructure. Watchdog groups are not as optimistic, citing that an increase in military spending is historically one of the least efficient ways to grow the domestic economy.

Illa Quagmire Continues to Rage On

Illa continues to evade reclamation into Vancouvian control. This week, pro-Vancouvia counter protests in Westilla resulted in a fierce backlash, with paramilitary and police forces loyal to rebel leader Ignacio Campos killing five, injuring dozens, and imprisoning hundreds. This comes after months of relative peace on the island, with Campos seemingly silently gathering influence of the island's economic and military capabilities.

It is estimated that roughly 400,000 of the island's two million residents are loyal to Vancouvia, with another million neutral to either side. Vancouvia has slowly tried to gather support on the island through the use of "information campaigns" including distributing pro-government pamphlets via airdrop and broadcasting Vancouvian media over TV and radio waves. It is also rumored that squads of VSF and VEO may be present on the island, helping to arm and train a partisan force, although Congress has denied these claims.

The general populace has seemed to grow more disinterested with Illa affairs as time has gone on, with one poll finding that only 37% of Vancouvians want the military to retake Illa, down from 45% just three months prior. Still, however, Congress has adamantly denied Campos' government's legitimacy, declaring the rebellion on Illa illegal and treasonous.

SIX MONTHS OF BRAHURER - NO END TO STAGNATION IN SIGHT

JULY 15 2019 | Guest Columnist Dr. Dehren Si Braant | Porohare, Ostehaar

It has been roughly six months since former Prime Minister Rikard Vulf Dorias unexpectedly resigned from office, boosting his then-deputy's career in an instant. The Labor Party was quick to approach President Den-Heyes with a stable coalition under Elena Brahurer's rule, with a single downside - she would serve as Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs simultaneously. That was a hard one to justify, but Den-Heyes was somehow persuaded. Was it a threat of Unleashed Thuzbekistan looming across the sea? Was it the recent blow in a generally unsuccessful intervention in Orsandia (we won, but why did it even come to it)? They sold "stability" and he liked the product. The Opposition was furious. Instead of snap-elections, Osters suddenly got two more years of the brand Dorias' Government - Without the Dorias.

"They didn't stop to think the entire process through or set up some kind of a transition mechanism," said a member of the Labor Party's general committee, on the party's internal discussions of February-March 2019. "[Dorias] just got up one day and informed the [party] leadership that they have three weeks to solve the issue." That same day he announced his intentions publicly and, in practice, imposed a 21-day ultimatum on the coalition to find an interim Prime Minister. Brahurer was the only one among the party seniors that already had a working office, and her good relations with Dorias and his staff certainly helped. "He gave her the government," a now-former Labor party senior reportedly said in closed party discussions during recent months.

Labor Party leaders deny the accusations. "Internal policy disputes within party mechanisms do not affect government activity." The reader would undoubtedly be glad to learn that I actually checked this statement, and it is false. According to sources from within the Labor Party, the February-March series of discussions was so urgent and resource-consuming, that it was given it own title - Gemstone. One goal was, for example, to approve a "baseline agenda" for various political activities. Usually this is done during the weeks or months prior to the elections, but this time the party was not prepared. "Brahurer and many in her staff had to put hours of work into that instead of doing actual government work," one source told FNN. "Important cabinet meetings were delayed because of that."

How important? Two meetings on Thuzbekistan - one on foreign cooperation and one on sanctions status - were postponed from February 7th to April 2nd and then to May 26th because Brahurer had to attend party meetings. A discussion on OCES' planned businesses in Menna Shuli was reportedly postponed four times between March and June because of "requests by the members' offices". Two visits by diplomats from Vancouvia and Polar Svalbard were simply cancelled due to "participants' time constraints"... and guess who was the participants. All were delayed due to "party mechanisms". At this point, I would like remind the reader again that Prime Minister Brahurer is still also Minister Brahurer, who had neglected Ostehaar's Foreign Affairs in recent months. I could not get a response from the Prime Minister's Office on the issue.

I recently spoke with Head of Opposition and New Ostehaar party leader, Mikahel Si Ardner, who lost to Dorias in the 2017 elections and hoped to replace him this year. Si Ardner's attitude towards the nuclear industry and the military got all the headlines in that interview - and rightfully so - but his remarks on the interim government were more insightful. "After spending half-a-year setting her office up, Brahurer is going to spend the next six months on budget discussions until it's approved around March," Si Ardner assessed. Then it's one year to elections, and we all know what that means. "She has to secure and solidify her position in the party and in the administration if she wants any chance of running in 2021," Si Ardner added, "so it's bureaucracy before leadership for the time being."

What About Lovsk? In three months my last column here, Two Years in Lovsk: Opportunities & Trouble, will be celebrating its second birthday. I should probably start working on a Four Years in Lovsk: No More Opportunities & Only Trouble piece. 6 Osters, 26 Oster soldiers, and 45 Lovskians were killed in terrorist attacks across the island since January 2019 - The highest numbers since 2015. 32 Lovskians were arrested for links to terror cells in the past three months alone. Human Rights groups are still denied access to many confrontation zones for security reasons, and many activists are delayed in border crossings and airports if they state their intention to visit the place. Rumor has is that several high-ranking DFO chiefs planned to resign in protest of the government's indecision over Lovsk, but eventually backed down after Dorias' resignation in fear of shaking the system too much.

Looking forward, the interim Government has a few upcoming "tests":

Thuzbekistan. The Orsandian War taught us that the good-old Oster-Thuzbek balance no longer exists. A reality of a missile-developing Thuzbek enemy, pressed by sanctions and economic instability to the wall, is an urgent matter that should be at the highest priority. Brahurer has to jump back to her Foreign Affairs suit and remind the Western Isles that Thuzbekistan is not an Oster problem. Alternatively, she can order an aerial assault on Thuzbek missile sites and R&D facilities. Either way - Now is the time to decide on a course of action.

Charbagnia. June saw the fulfillment of two very different forms of government on that war-torn island - Vancouvian Agnion and French Charbagnia. In a way, the debate on the fate of the "Oster Zone" represents a more important debate on the nature of Ostehaar's use of force in the region. DFO spokesperson Ela Rehner stated in April that the military intended to maintain its infrastructure in Charbagnia, and joint Oster-Vancouvian military tests reportedly took place in May near the border between the two zones. In June, however, a closed government-sponsored conference for Oster industrialists and businessmen reportedly raised an issue of "Investments in a Vancouvian- or Noronnican- Controlled Oster Zone", and OCES engineers stationed in Charbagnia were informed that their contracts might not be extended "in the case of a territorial exchange."

The Land Deal Case. Attorney General Mark Vohlrin is expected to present his final report on the matter in September, 20 months after the beginning of one of the largest investigations into government activities in recent decades. Leading figures in the current government might find themselves under charges.

Brahurer's term as Prime Minister began in sin, stagnated for half-a-year, and its continuation threatens to destabilize the nation. Brahurer would do Ostehaar a great service if she would step down and run as a candidate for Prime Minister.

Vancouvian Occupation Zone, Charbagnia

Vancouvian Congress Authorizes Massive Changes in Vancouvian Occupation Zone of Charbagnia

The Vancouvian Occupation Zone in former Charbagnia has undergone a revitalization today, after an early morning policy statement was released by the Vancouvian Congress, which outlined broad strokes changes for the large central-south swath of the country. The following summarizes the changes outlined by Congress:

1. The Vancouvian Occupation Zone will henceforth be renamed as "Vancouvian Agnion" and the residents there living will be known as the "Agnionese"

2. Vancouvian Agnion shall be governed under the laws of Vancouvia as a "Special Region" and shall be governed by a committee of Agnionese appointed by the Vancouvian Congress for two year terms. All Agnionese shall be granted much of the same rights as Vancouvian citizens, but shall not legally be Vancouvian citizens

3. All Agnionese are permitted the right to request relocation rights to the Vancouvian mainland and Vancouvian citizenship. Preference shall be given to those with needed and uncommon skills, and those signing on to the Vancouvian military

4. The border crossings with the neighboring zones shall be closed for a period of thirty days, effective immediately, with some rare exceptions

5. The Vancouvian military shall begin a "prolonged withdrawal" from Agnion, concurrent with the training and deployment of a 10,000+ strong Agnionese Defense Force

6. Vancouvian English shall be the national language, gradually replacing the currently de facto German. The Vancouvian cove shall be the national currency. Vancouvian holidays shall be celebrated alongside former Charbagnian holidays

7. Vancouvian businesses shall be permitted and encouraged to "develop, build, hire, buy, sell, and otherwise conduct commerce" in Agnion

These changes impact the roughly five million former Charbagnians living in Agnion, the most populous zone of former Charbagnia. Locals have already swept to the streets en masse, with both pro and anti-Vancouvian demonstrations underway. Helmwerder, the former capital of greater Charbagnia where roughly 3.2 million citizens reside, has polled largely pro-Vancouvia, in contrast with the more rural areas of the territory. Commentators have speculated that the more highly skilled, richer, English-fluent Helmwerders have a much better opportunity to be approved for Vancouvian citizenship.

Main concerns from the Agnionese are the possible brain-drain resulting from Vancouvian intentions to approve "the best and brightest" for Vancouvian citizenship, the seemingly overt dismantling of Charbagnian culture, and the continued lack of governmental representation. Congress has already addressed the last concern, releasing a statement late this afternoon that a transition to "self-determination and Agnion democracy" will occur within the next four years.

Roughly 5,000 Vancouvian National Army soldiers were deployed to Agnion the preceding week, likely in order to preempt any sort of mass uprising or dissent from the neighboring zones.

It is still unknown whether Vancouvian allies Noronica and Ostehaar were briefed on these radical changes before today. The northern French Republic of Charbagnia is likely to react negatively.

We Wish to Expand Further in Menna Shuli and San Javier: Magarati Companies

Image
The CEOs of various Magarati companies at a meeting

NEW LIBANG

Chief executive officers of companies based in the Athara Magarati Federation of Hangates said jointly in a press conference that they want to expand their businesses further in the nations of Menna Shuli and San Javier. The CEOs further clarified their joint statement to the Libang Herald and other media outlets as follows -

Why Menna Shuli and San Javier?

Hira Bahadur Nagesia, President and CEO of Nagesia-Dhari Limited: It is the wish of everyone in Central Argus to see a stable Central Argus. Compared to other nations, like say Enchanta for example where the entire nation is in disarray due to complications regarding their leader, Menna Shuli and San Javier are very politically stable. In fact, Menna Shuli is one of the most stable countries in the Isles at the moment and the current San Javier government has really done many great things than the ones before. Both Menna Shuli and San Javier are within the Central Argus geographic location, are politically stable as I already mentioned, have rapidly developing infrastructure and possess strong financial sector. All of these make these two countries the ideal partners for our companies.

Does this renewed interest in Menna Shuli, even more so in San Javier, have anything do with the sanctions on Samudera and Thuzbekistan?

Terumi Kusunda, CEO of Bihani Media Corporation: As the CEO of a corporation that also publishes news, I will be blunt and say yes. There is no point in lying that the sanctions by almost the entire Isles, especially the so-called capitalist bastions or arsenals of democracies, against Samudera and Thuzbekistan have hurt our businesses. Trade nowadays is heavily interconnected. Like our friends in Kodo, for example, utilize tin that comes from Samudera to make their popular smartphones. Most of the 80 Magarati companies had their products assembled in Samudera. Necessary items from other nations have to arrive for those assembly plants to work but that is not possible at all with the sanctions. Most Magarati companies, including our entertainment-based Bihani, had huge consumer base in Samudera and Thuzbekistan. Now we seek to shift to businesses into Menna Shuli and San Javier's untapped markets.

Tarisa Hyungi, President and CEO of Athawa Sports: Let's not only blame the sanctions. The businesses also dwindled after the Ilsan government shut down branches of Magarat companies in the Ilse regarding the Lortika situation. Then the situation in Arvan got worse and we had to close our businesses there as well. Some of our friends moved their businesses from Arvan to nearby Lovsk temporarily with hopes of reopening again. Others like Kodo were already ahead of the game and had branches and plants in both Menna Shuli and San Javier since long ago. The rest of us are now following the lead taken by Kodo and a few other Magarati companies.

How will your expansion benefit Menna Shuli and San Javier?

Toran Chhantyal, CEO of CASware: Athara Magarat lacks manpower. This is the reason why almost all of the 80 Magarati companies have their branches and plants elsewhere. In doing this, we hire locally. We provided plenty of employment opportunities in Samudera and some of us still continue doing so there even with the sanctions. Menna Shuli is the most populous nation in the Isles and plenty of Mennans have already benefited from working as our employees. When we expand our businesses, we shall provide even more employment opportunities in Menna Shuli and San Javier.

Hannah Jirel, CEO of Jirium: Athara Magarat is a huge country but devoid of riches. Our country's top export is still food products. We do not have reserves of oil or abundance of valuable metals. Menna Shuli and San Javier are blessed in terms of raw materials that our companies need for making various products. We will provide new export markets to the governments of Menna Shuli and San Javier. We are already working with corporate, political, and economic experts from Menna Shuli and San Javier to make a win-win scenario for all parties involved.

Kumari Kyu, President and CEO of Kyu Construction and Engineering: (laughs) Like Vancouvian companies who had been investing on their railway projects there, we are looking to create both metaphorical and actual bridges that will link everyone involved: the Mennans and Javierans, their governments, various third parties, our government and we the Magarati companies.

PM DORIAS SHOCKS NATION: "I HAVE SEVERE DEPRESSION; INTEND TO STEP DOWN SOON"

Image
Prime Minister Dorias

Prime Minister Rikard Vulf Dorias announced this afternoon his intention to submit his resignation to President Den Heyes and leave politics for good. "I suffer from a condition known as Major Depressive Disorder," he explained, "and cannot continue serving as Prime Minister any longer." Dorias added that he would remain in office for several more weeks, in order to facilitate an effective transition. "There are many procedures required in this situation, and it is in our national interest to do it as smoothly as possible."

"I have come to terms with the reality of my situation, which had been hindering my ability to work and maintain this office," Dorias stated in a shaky voice. "The past few months have been extremely difficult for me and my family, and have recently led me to this decision. I must apologize to you, the people of Ostehaar, and to my supporters and voters, to whom I owe much gratitude." Dorias led The Labor Party to another victory in the recent general elections two years ago, in February 2017.

The statement comes mere days after the beginning of a campaign, orchestrated and promoted by opposition parties, calling for snap elections. Dorias' main critic, opposition leader Mikahel Si Ardner, appeared in a short viral video last week and attacked the current government. "This administration is weak, inadequate, and paralyzed," Ardner said in the video, "and it has failed to react properly in almost every issue our country faces these days." Other opposition officials called for Dorias' resignation as part of the campaign, blaming him for Ostehaar's current strategic and political muddle.

Senior officials - from within the government as well - claimed that the Prime Minister was under intense pressure lately, mainly due to his office's part in the 'Land Deal' case. Last June had seen a significant break-through in the investigation revolving primarily around the RDF and Ministry of Defense. "High-level officials in Dorias' government were involved in one of the largest frauds in the history of Ostehaar," Ardner said at the time. "Dorias himself would have to answer for that."

Columnist Dr. Dehren Si Braant estimated that the deteriorating situation in Lovsk, coupled with the rising stakes in the efforts against Thuzbekistan, are the real reason for the Prime Minister's discouraged state. "Dorias is a political mastermind and could have successfully navigated through the RDF issue," Si Braant claimed in an interview this evening. "What he is not, is a militaristic hawk. I think that he gradually lost his control over the Oster security establishment lately, and now he has to deal with consequences of actions he did not even push for."

Dr. Si Braant: "[Prime Minister Dorias] was against keeping Lovsk, against interfering in Arvan and San Javier, and against the recent Vancouvian approach, but his agenda was pushed aside by people like Minister of Defense Aarin Dulikh, senior advisor Alex Vulf, and yes, even high-raking officers in the military itself. The one time he supported the 'hawkish' approach - lately in Orsandia - the operation eventually died out and public opinion turned against the intervention as a whole. It devastated him."

According to Ostehaar's Constitution, since Oster voters elect party lists only, and not candidates for Prime Minister - If the Prime Minister resigns, the acting coalition is given 21 days to propose a nominee from among its members, who would complete the term. The President can then either approve or reject the nominee. During that time, or until snap elections are held, the acting Prime Minister is the individual appointed Temar Daaft (Second Head) - currently Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Brahurer.

Vancouvia Strengthens Ties with I.D., Signs VACES Agreement, Takes on Protection of Gael-Argean Area

Vancouvia has strengthened its position in North Argus and Gael overnight with the signing of a VACES alliance with the International District. Citing growing instability and several failing states in the region, the Vancouvian Congress and the I.D. Council signed the agreement at 8:00 PM yesterday night at the Senate Building in Vesuvius at a relatively quiet ceremony.

This marks the second VACES alliance Vancouvia has undertaken, the first of which was with Noronica two years ago. Congress has stated that they are enthusiastic that they are building stronger ties with the region in which Vancouvia has the greatest "cultural and historic ties."

The majority of the Vancouvian navy has moved to the straits surrounding the I.D. Analysts have surmised that their aim is either to work to better cutoff trade with Illa Isle or be close enough for necessary operations in the I.D., Arvan, Gresswell Island, or other areas.

Vancouvian Congress Renews Claims on Sawneeak Atoll, States Willingness to "Peacefully Purchase Islands in Dispute"

Virtually right after the announcement of the VACES treaty, Congress announced that they have renewed their position that the Sawneeak islands are all legal property of Vancouvia. Congress also stated that they are willing to negotiate transfers of money or "other suitable property" in exchange for nations abandoning their "occupations" of the other Sawneeak islands.

Vancouvia currently hosts a small base and airfield on two of the smallest isles, the Pelican Isles. Congress gave no reason for the sudden confirmation of Vancouvia's policy towards Sawneeak.

Vancouvian holidays shall be celebrated alongside former Charbagnian holidays.

Vancouvian Confidence in Congress Wanes

A poll conducted over the past week by the Independent Review Forum was released today, revealing some striking feelings Vancouvians have towards the Vancouvian Congress. The poll, which received opinions from 50,000 Vancouvians, showed that 42% of Vancouvians disapprove of "the direction the country is heading" while 45% disapprove of the Vancouvian Congress itself. This comes as a stark contrast to the usual 20-30% disapproval ratings that Congress has received over the last ten years.

What we note, however, is that over 5,000 of those surveyed currently reside on Illa Isle, still considered part of Vancouvia by the IRF. Of these 5,000 Illa Islanders, there is a whopping 79% disapproval rating. This seems to contradict Ambassador Augustia White's statements to the League two months ago when she claimed a vast majority of the Islanders support Vancouvia and are against de facto leader Ignacio Campos. These statements helped Vancouvia shut down a resolution that would have condemned Vancouvian actions on the island taken since the revolt.

Illa Isle has remained in a deadlock with greater Vancouvia for the past several months, with neither side willing to give way. The Vancouvian blockade, initially successful in stifling Illa's economy, has now been circumvented by an over 400% increase in air travel and cargo. Congress has been so far unwilling to implement a no-fly zone over the island, fearing it will force the military's hand into shooting down mostly civilian air travel.

Illa Isle Submits Request for $100M Loan for "Humanitarian Aid" to Noronnican International Development Fund

This morning, now-President Ignacio Campos announced his submission of a request for loan monies from the Noronnican International Development Fund for use in humanitarian initiatives throughout Illa Isle.

"Vancouvia has robbed us of our economic footing for the last half-decade. They have enslaved our children for their own profit, stolen wheat from our fields and coins from our own pockets. They have scorched our earth with hyper-capitalism and modern colonialism. They have corrupted or claimed our businesses. And what have they blessed us with? Base Tern and its patrols to keep us in line. We were little but a breadbasket for the rich elites in Yorkford and Vesuvius. Now we are our own country. Now we must rebuild," spoke Campos in Spanish in his daily press briefing this morning outside the Mayor's Building.

The funds would be committed solely towards providing water, food, and shelter for the civilian population, claimed Campos, although that begs the question why Campos didn't request the food itself, although self-sufficiency seems to be a chief concern of the new government.

Illa Isle proclaimed independence on July 5th, more than three weeks ago. Since then, despite repeated Vancouvian warnings, there has been very little actual fighting between the rebellious island and the Vancouvian military. There has been at least 14 confirmed UAV strikes on the island itself, but these were mostly against rural military targets and port facilities in Westilla.

Analysts speculate that Vancouvia does not wish to become embroiled in yet another conflict. Analyst Mario Mendez commented, "It just doesn't seem financially viable for Vancouvia to fight in what would likely be a long and bloody war - and they don't really need to. Economic sanctions put into place against Illa, along with the blockade, have significantly affected Illa's ability to feed, train, and recruit military forces, not to mention stirring up civilian cries for reversing the independence movement."

Illa has also called for "similar nations of heritage, creed, policy, and character" to assist with financial, political, and military aid, including Weinam, Thuzbekistan, Athara Magarat, and Belle Ilse en Terre.

TRILATERAL STATEMENT ON ORSANDIAN WAR: FURTHER STEPS EXPECTED

Following the joint statement by the allied parties of the Orsandian war, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense have released further, separate reports, adding more details regarding the Thuzbek and Samuderan intervention in the war, and the expected steps the government plans to take.

The Ministry of Defense release, twelve pages long, presents much of the intelligence collected on the Thuzbek and Samuderan involvement. A more detailed report was distributed to G4 governments and to allies of Ostehaar across the region, such as Vancouvia, Miklania, Polar Svalbard, and Covonant. Sources of the information include HUMINT, SIGINT, and VISINT data gathered by the three intelligence agencies of Ostehaar, Orsandia, and Dormill and Stiura since February 2018.

"That's a no-brainer," an official in the Ministry told FNN yesterday as the reports were released. "The evidence against these two nations [Thuzbekistan and Samudera] are substantial and unequivocal. The real question right now is not whether it's true, but what should be done about it. I think it's clear that condemnation, diplomatic isolation, and sanctions are the right course of action."

The statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs focused less on the information itself and more on the implications and on the need for decisive action by The Western Isles. The report presents basic information on the Thuzbek economy, for example, and analyses the potential effect of sanctions. "The Thuzbek authoritarian regime has equipped the PLF with millions of dollars worth of weapons and ammunition," the report highlights state. It later concludes that "the only sure way to disable the Thuzbek war-machine is by denying it the necessary funds." The release does not state whether or not Ostehaar would move to revoke Samudera's G4 membership, but according to FNN's political commentator Lihr Frihsj, it is obvious that this would be the case. "The government would not accept Samuderan presence in the G4 after this," Frihsj claimed.

Minster of Foreign Affairs Elena Brahurer issued her own statement, referring to the press release and calling on regional organizations and alliances such as the League, MSTO, and C6 to present a united front. "Thuzbekistan must understand that when you initiate war, there are consequences. If the regional community fails to deliver, it would only encourage Prime Minister Cihangir to continue pushing his atrocious agenda in Gael and across the region as well."

PRIME MINISTER: OSTEHAAR SUPPORTS VANCOUVIA, WILL NOT RECOGNIZE ILLA ISLE

In response to the proclamation of idenpendence by the Illa Isle leadership, Prime Minister Dorias spoke about the issue yesterday during a press conference. "We have been following the Illa Isle problem closely," Dorias said, "and so far we've decided against issuing a formal response in fear that it might destabilize the situation even further. This independence announcement, however, marks a turning point and we must not let it stand. We do not recognize this proclamation, and I have instructed to limit air and sea travel to and from the island for the time being."

In Lovsk, local underground newsletters celebrated the Illa Isle proclamation and referred to it as another step on the way to liberation of all occupied territories of the north, including Arvan, Wake Islands, and Lovsk itself. A statement in one of the bulletins read: "Rise, oppressed brothers! Resist the occupying forces, and if you cannot - ignore their presence altogether. Illa Isle shows us the way, and soon we will all be liberated."

TENSE OSTER-ALTERAN MATCH ENDS IN A 2-2 TIE; TEAM READY TO PLAY D&S

Na Barnir (The Rocks, Ostehaar's national football team) hosted Alteran Republics yesterday at the Campus Olympic Arena in Porohare. The long-anticipated match ended in a tie after both teams managed to score twice.

Ten minutes after the start of the game Oster defender Dihn Serger tackled Adamus Falconius, rewarding him with a penalty kick that sent the ball into Alex Brohnt's net. The Alteran advantage lasted most of the first half until Mark Gaalgriner scored an equalizer from the edge of the penalty area on the 42nd minute. The second half saw many goal attempts on both sides, and both teams seemed to play at their best. Oster Ari Vehes scored a header off a corner kick on the 72nd minute, but the Alterans were quick to equalize with a magnificent Petrus Marcipor goal six minutes later.

"It was quite a difficult one," Oster team captain Daar Brikner said after the match. "The Alterans definitely gave us some hard time and played well. I personally enjoyed myself, and I think we presented the audience here and at home some good performance." The team will meet Dormill and Stiura in Ile-de-Avillon on the 13th.

ORSANDIAN WAR: AIR FORCE PILOT ALEN SJEHNIR STILL MISSING IN URCHING; WAR RAGES ON IN LIHAI

In a public statement last night, a Ministry of Defense official confirmed that the whereabouts of Oster Air Force pilot Alen Sjehnir remain unknown. Downed nearly a month ago on May 20th, Sjehnir is believed to be hiding in the Lahpso Taha area, possibly waiting for rescue. "Further details regarding the pilot will not be disclosed for now, as we do not wish to share information that might help the PLF get to him before we do," the Ministry of Defense official said. A Thuzbek analyst explained last month that "the PLF [...] would not stop until [the pilot] was captured to either use as leverage against Ostehaar or as a source of intelligence."

As the civil war in Orsandia rages on, the public debate regarding the Oster involvement in the war continues. In central Porohare, close to the Noble's Palace, anti-war activists protested yesterday against what they referred to as "an inexcusable intervention in another country's war". A counter-protest was held nearby, in Linder Garden. "This lack of support is infuriating," a Haalban resident said on the anti-war protesters, "and just because it's in another country doesn't mean it has no direct influence on Ostehaar."

Image
Anti-war protesters in Porohare, yesterday.

Protesters from both sides of the controversy met yesterday evening at the corner of Linder and Ahnokh to calmly discuss their views. "This government's obsession with communism has to end at some point," said Ahri, a 26 year-old Porohare law student, to a group of war supporters. "I know my country's history and I'm aware of what you call 'the Thuzbek threat', but we have no reason to escalate what is now a dormant conflict." Nihl, a 32 year-old businessman from Lindastir, responded to her claims, insisting that the Oster-Thuzbek conflict is alive and kicking. "[The conflict] stopped being 'dormant' the moment Thuzbekistan saw fit to infiltrate into the heart of Gael," he said, "and if we allow this to go on because it's 'only' in our back yard, we'll meet Thuzbek troops next year on our borders."

PROGRESS IN THE 'LAND DEAL' CASE; KEY WITNESSES ESCAPED TO MENNA SHULI

Five months of discreet investigation ended yesterday afternoon when Attorney General Mark Vohlrin's office released a statement regarding the status of the 'Land Deal' case. According to Vohlrin's staff, the Keverai document leak in December provided key evidence that pushed the investigation forward. This momentum led to the interrogation of several government workers - some from the RDF itself but also others from the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of National Infrastructures, Ministry of Rural Development, and Prime Minister's Office. 39 individuals were questioned altogether, producing valuable evidence. Several individuals who were defined as 'key witnesses', however, were not found, and officials in Vohlrin's office assessed that some of them had 'escaped' to Menna Shuli. The officials refused to name the witnesses or the organization they worked for, in fear it may disrupt the attempts to find them and bring them back home for questioning.

Head of the opposition, Mikahel Si Ardner, spoke about the 'Land Deal' this morning in an interview at FNN's main studio in Porohare. "I've said in the past that the RDF had become a corrupted extension of the current government," he said, "and this long list of individuals called for questioning is another sad proof of that." Ardner, who called the affair 'a red flag' when FNN first reported it last October, said yesterday that it would probably lead to the Prime Minister's resignation. "It's very clear from the Keverai documents that this is not a false accusation, and that high-level officials in Dorias' government were involved in one of the largest frauds in the history of Ostehaar. Dorias himself would have to answer for that."

SEVEN KILLED IN LOVSK'S WORST TERRORIST ATTACK SINCE LAST DECEMBER

Two Oster citizens and five Lovskians were killed yesterday morning in a terrorist attack in Astine, Lovsk. According to local news sources, a bomb went off at about 9 am in a local office of Waterfall Electronics, killing all six workers inside as well as a bystander. Eight other people were injured in the attack - one of them is still in critical condition at Levenburg's King Robert hospital.

This attack was the worst the island had seen since December 2017, when a car bomb at a DFO checkpoint killed nine, including two DFO soldiers and seven Lovskians. It ended the first quiet month since the Oster takeover roughly two and a half years ago.

SUSPICIONS REGARDING FUTURE USE OF BALNIK'S NEW ENRICHMENT FACILITY

Deputy Minister of Defense Ben Rekhem commented on Balnik's announcement of the construction of a new enrichment facility in an undisclosed location, questioning its declared purpose and raising suspicions regarding Balnik's intentions. "The Balniki claims that energy production is the reason are not satisfying," he said. "If that is the case, why the secrecy and vagueness?" Rekhem confirmed that his Ministry is currently taking steps to evaluate the threat of a Balniki nuclear program.

LINDASTIR READY FOR CHAMPIONS CUP SEMIFINALS

Following a successful run against Verdonian teams RCE Camarga and Rodetza CG, Lindastir Daarem (Lindastir Union) is preparing to play Guangfeng City in the GFA Champions Cup semifinals. Coach Martin Jeh Brent had this to say right after the previous match: "Guangfeng is an impressive club, and we're in no way underestimating their abilities, but I think that in the end our hard work will bring us to the finals in Kotapura."

Image

Lindastir's success in the tournament so far has united most Oster football fans, with orange and black currently dominating pub decorations all across the country. "We're all Lindas fans this month," a 46 year-old Haalban City fan told FNN reporters during the last match. "I mean, I'm not going to wear the orange-and-black, but of course I'll show up so watch the games and support the team."

At 5:30 AM this morning, the de facto mayor of Westilla, Ignacio Campos, gave a speech in front of City Hall, calling for "all nations and peoples sympathetic to the plight of Illa, its people, and liberty itself" to assist Illa Isle in the acquisition of firearms in order to further arm the Island Defense Militia (IDM). Calling the request "a necessary step," Campos reiterated Illa's need to defend itself, referencing the failure of December's siege of Base Tern, and arguing that success would have been possible had Illa Islanders been armed.

Although the right to own and operate rifles and semi-automatic pistols for hunting and self-defense has been reserved for Vancouvians since its founding, Illa residents were prevented from purchasing, carrying, and owning firearms since tensions began prior to the Base Tern incident. Originally supposed to be a temporary measure, the ban has stuck, and served only to further enrage the local populace.

Illa is not particularly defenseless. The vast majority of the 2,000-strong police force on Illa has pledged their loyalty to Illa, or at least, disacknowledged Vancouvian authority, in the past few weeks. There also have been growing anti-federalist gangs who have, for the most past, acquired firearms from the black market. Seeking to take advantage of the power vacuum and newfound demand, they have increased smuggling operations in tandem with criminal elements in Xrevaro, Arvan, and Lovsk.

Meanwhile, a second siege of Base Tern has begun, this time with several SAM anti-air missiles surrounding the base. Although no one is sure how the Illa Islanders could have possibly acquired such weapons, information has come out that they are Vancouvian-sourced. This puts the base in a difficult position - no longer able to airlift supplies in with the threat of aircraft being shot down, this leads many to believe that the Vancouvian army must land on the island in force to relieve the base. Such an action has already been listed as one move that would "force Illa to abandon Vancouvia altogether and declare its independence," according to Campos. While many commentators think that peaceful reconciliation is unlikely, Campos has assured both islands that nonviolence is a possibility if Illa's demands for semi-sovereignty are met and Base Tern is handed over to the IDM.

ATNAIAN NUCLEAR OBSESSION: THE GOOD OLD DAYS?

A classified memo distributed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reportedly determines that the Atnaian Quorum would most likely push for nuclear rearmament. The document, which was drawn up by the ministry's Special Assessment Wing and shared with the Prime Minister's Office, the security and foreign affairs committee, and Oster embassies around the region, says Hegemon Wessich has been openly promoting the issue of Atnaian nuclear capabilities in the past year. "The construction of modern reactors and fuel-cycle facilities was probably a key factor in the Hegemony's plan of action," the document reportedly states.

"It is possible that this renewed interest in the nuclear field is linked to the 2016 Merrit Isle Nuclear Reactor incident," the document suggests, "during which the Atnaian military was forced to quarantine the facility." The memo details suspected Atnaian nuclear capabilities, mentions recent Uranium mining activities, and assesses that either the ARK or SPD currently has projects related to the development of nuclear weapon components.

The document also mentions the Atnaian Nuclear Obsession of the 1980's, the 1984 standoff, and the anti-nuclear agenda that followed. It further states that "while Atnaian public discourse has not stressed the importance of independent nuclear capability, the hegemonic administration frequently raises the issue through the media, relying on sentiments of nostalgia and Atnaian superiority." FNN was unable to get a clear response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the reported memo.

'LAND DEAL': RDF IMPLICATED IN KEVERAI LEAKS

10 weeks after FNN's first report on the so-called 'Land Deal' involving the Rural Development Foundation - CBC reveals indications that the RDF has indeed falsified budget reports and held off-shore accounts contrary to law. According to the leaked documents, these accounts were investment accounts managed by GCK law firm in Keverai. The report also states that the unreported surplus was used to finance government projects related to base defenses and coastal facilities in Ostehaar, Lovsk, and Keverai.

This comes only days after the confirmation of recent Oster-Keveran talks that included agreements relating to "installing advanced border-defense instruments" in Keverai. FNN has no indications that this agreement is linked to the 'Land Deal', but experts suggest that the 'advanced instruments' may actually be classified Oster weapons that the government was able to finance thanks to the RDF unreported surplus.

Leaked Papers from Keverai reveals corruption among influential citizens from numerous countries

Image

A few moments ago, the CBC after days of intensive investigation as retrieved a document from an undisclosed source that entails in detailed actions taken by few influential powerful individuals from various nations around the region including Covonant. In the document are reports ranging from tax evasion, unethical action in business and corruption among government officials. The document outlines actions which have directly been linked to Keverai where many of the individuals in the report are expressed as using as a safe haven for scrupulous activities. The countries that have been mentioned involves Xrevaro, Ostehaar, Vancouvia, Dormill and Stiura and Covonant.

The reports noted that DuFurma, a company from Xrevaro has been involved in the trafficking of arms, bribery, fraud, and treason. DuFurma, a multi-industry corporation native to Xrevaro, was under contract to develop and store chemical weaponry for the state. In the papers, the company ran multiple unconfirmed R&D operations with intent to sell to Rotterfield Systems of Vancouvia and Lefora of Polar Svalbard. Furthermore the document shows where the company engaged in trafficking weapons to Tumanese terrorists and the Kodiroğluv Clan of Bhikkustan; as well as bribery to numerous local politicians and members of parliament. At the moment, DuFurma has declined to comment.

Coscem & Co. Another firm from Xrevaro mentioned in the papers is noted as also being involved in the trafficking of arms, bribery, corporate espionage, fraud, and treasons. Coscem & Co. allegedly conducted corporate espionage against DuFurma, and to better rival the company, began its own chemical weapon production. Coscem & Co. is said to have conducted multiple illegal R&D operations with Anorev Co. of Verona Beach and Namen Inc. of San Jimenez while conducted arm sales to San Jimenean Government. The CEO of Coscem & Co expressed that the reports within the papers are false.

The papers themselves are false and an attack against this good company's name. Coscem and Co has always operated within legal terms. Furthermore, the leaking and acquiring of such information is illegal in and of itself. Coscem & Co. pledges to work closely with the government on investigating such accusations.

Continuing with news on the leaked reports. Out of Vancouvia,
Rotterfield Systems, a subsidiary of multiple holding companies which the papers suggest were eventually tied back to a hushed Congressional black ops operation that begun about 5 years ago is identified as having supplied financing to the Xrevaro chemical weapons program, with the aim of utilizing the weapons via loyal paramilitary groups in war zones that the Vancouvians may find themselves involved. The CBC TWI has sought comments from both a government official and representatives from Rotterfield Systems but such attempts proved futile.

Coming closer to home, the Covonantian Leader of the Opposition Imperatus Marl and the current Minister of Defense Crixus Ignacio were found to be engaging in acts of tax evasion and corruption. The papers expressed that Opposition Leader Imperatus Marl during his term as Prime Minister, supported illegal drug trade in San Javier and secretly provided contracts to Guvonant, a private arms contractor in Covonant to supply weapons to Anliana Cartel in San Javier. Imperatus Marl is identified as being a shareholder in Guvonant and secretly profited from the drug trade which he kept the money in an off shore account in Keverai. Defense Minister Ignacio, the reports states, after being appointed Minister of Defense, Crixus Ignacio brought the matter concerning former Prime Minister Marl to light in the Consul at a Committee level meeting but due to limited information brought forward to the Committee, Imperatus Marl's case was closed. This attempt at limited information the report notes was deliberate on the part of the Defense Minister who continued on the secret acts of the former Prime Minister by creating the impression that Covonant was out of San Javier for good, while he made personal deals on behalf of the Crassus Gais led government and himself with the Corindians entrusted to secure Covonant's interest on the island and the Azul Naturalez clan who the Minister continues to support with the provision of financial support for access to partake in the drug trade through the Minister's own company, DrugCorp which uses substances of Opium in their drug products which the CBC would be a major federal offense.

A statement issued by the Defense Ministry following the CBC'S attempt at an interview was told the following:

The Minister of Defense Crixus Ignacio is deeply disturbed with the release of a report which is yet to undergo authentication. The Minister and the Ministry wholeheartedly denounce the reports as false and will take subsequent measures to ensure that those involved in its release will be brought to justice for libelous actions and flash reporting of a Covonantian government official

While the CBC tried to receive a comment from the Leader of the Opposition, we were told from the Office of the Opposition Leader that he was not available for comments. The Democratic Party of Covonant have however responded by calling for investigations into the report while expressing the party on a whole had no implications during the time the party leader served as Prime Minister.

Turning attention to Ostehaar another country where the Ostehaaran government agency Rural Development foundation (RDF) have been implicated in the reports suggest that they have falsified budget reports in order to invest a lot of money and create extra revenues. The papers expressed that they have accumulated over 4 billion KR (roughly 2.8 billion USD) in tradable securities managed by GCK in Keverai. The CBC identifies that this act illegal not only because of the falsified reports, but also because the RDF isn't allowed to hold off-shore accounts (let alone investment accounts) at all. It is also noted throughout the more than 500 page report that the RDF then used a lot of its unreported surplus to finance several government projects related to base defenses and coastal facilities in Ostehaar, Lovsk, and Keverai. The CBC sought a response from Eran Soherger, spokesman for the RDF where he denies the entire report, claiming that those accounts were merely personal accounts of RDF directors and not RDF accounts.

The findings in the reports is entirely false. It has also showed grave levels of inaccuracies by stating that the accounts were RDF accounts when in actuality they were the personal accounts if the RDF directors. I will decline to speak more on this for now as I believe an investigation into these claims is forthcoming and the RDF will clear this bad publicity

Over in Dormill and Stiura four individuals have been found to have engaged in corruption while the country's own intelligence agency has been found to be implicated throughout the reports. The individuals are:

Demian Yumei-Tracey - A Designer Clothes Store in Kevere's Landing.

Bureau of Special Intelligence - Dormill and Stiura's National Intelligence and Espionage Agency.

Trix Lovel - Present Director of the Bureau

Alice Marie Richelieu - President of the Federal Republic

Rébecca Leroy - Minister of State of the Federal Republic

With the state owned Bureau of Special Intelligence - Dormill and Stiura's National Intelligence and Espionage Agency being the only organizations from the country implicated.

The reports express that Demian Yumei-Tracey, served as a front for a Bureau secret project to have safe houses in foreign nations. The reports further expressed their involvement in the torture and brainwashing of foreign nationals and citizens to further the aims of the Bureau. Director Lovel, President Richelieu, and Minister of State Leroy had all approved of the project and have worked on its development over the course of the administration.

The report notes that the Bureau has also falsified various documents regarding their operations, including the existence of the Joker's Deck, a special division of the Bureau that performs exceptionally risky Black Ops, including actions in Charbagnia and in Merrit Isle.

The CBC in reaching for a statement from the parties involved all denied the reports and have declined to comment further. The CBC TWI will however continue to track and investigate further this developing story.

Prime Minister Gais: San Montagna should expect more air raids

Image

Prime Minister Crassus Gais has announced that Covonant in its lead of the Coalition Forces currently fighting in San Montagna will continue its air operations throughout the night as the Coalition of Six gains more territories of the country.

The C6 is nearing its completion on bringing democracy to the San Montagnans. We alongside our allies are fighting tirelessly to root out a sub-regional threat. Do far I have been told that we are winning the fight and to continue our efforts, I have ordered the Airforce to not relent in their attempts to maintain air superiority while destroying any impediment from the air in San Montagna

When told by journalist of the death toll following Covonant's air raid, Prime Minister Gais expressed his deep regrets for the innocent lives lost but noted that it would be worth it in the end.

War is never good and we have to come to terms that this is war and while I am regretful that innocent lives were lost we can't lost focus of the mandate. I can assure all Covonantians and peace loving citizens of the South Mesder that this conflict should end the threat that looms over us. It will he worth in the end

The C6 forces currently fighting in San Montagna has taken control of major cities in the country primarily on Mario Island with the Wellsian forces recently taking control of San Luca. The Prime Minister is however expressing Covonant's readiness in the event of reprisal attacks on Covonant from San Montagna.

I think for this war to quickly end, it would be a grave mistake for the San Montagnans to think to attack mainland Covonant. And I send strong warnings to Benito to move from such thinking. Already many Covonantian lives has been lost and we would not appreciate innocent Covonantian lives being lost as well. Covonant would ensure if such was to occur an example would be made to prevent such occurrence from happening again.

The Prime minister has ordered Benito to step down as the country's leader and call his army to surrender. He has given the fascist leader a 1 day ultimatum.

We don't want to prolong this conflict. It is not the intention of the C6 or the Covonantian government to start the new year with a war. I am ordering Benito to step down as the ruler of San Montagna and to call his army to surrender and hand himself over to the C6 forces for a trial conducted by his own country once we have ensured a peaceful transition to a democratic society. I am ordering Benito to adhere to my call within 24 hours if not we would see the phase of this war intensified which many would hope this stage of the conflict would not see. But I will not hesitate to unleash hell if Benito would wish to hold his country at ransom.

The Prime Minister expressed that the conflict is still being monitored and planning and coordination continuously being made as the stages of the conflict develops.

DO REMEMBER THIS IS THE CBC

TENSE LEAGUE DISCUSSION ON ATNAIA; BARBURJ THREATENS TO PULL OUT

The recent public debate on the issue of Atnaia and the war in Merrit Isle has reached the League halls yesterday, as delegates Barburj (Atnaia) and Americo (Corindia) disputed over Atnaia's stance in the League. Americo, who reacted to Barburj's suggestion that the League would denounce the MLF in exchange for Atnaia's help in Charbagnia, called it a "waste [of] our time" and accused the Atnaian delegate of asking the League a "legitimization of war". Barburj, in response, accused the League of "abandoning" Atnaia during the Ticking Flu epidemic and threatened to withdraw from the organization entirely if it would deny the request.

Prior to the incident at the League, Hegemon Wessich commented on the deteriorating Oster-Atnaian relations, referring to it as "saddening" and "disappointing". He accused Oster politicians of "fanning the fires of negative public sentiment" and said that the Quorum "will continue to review all options". According to FNN commentator on international relations, Laara Brohnt, the recent "nuclear subsidies" announced by Quorum are a moderate Atnaian "retaliation" against the Oster claims.

Meanwhile, a surge of condemnations of Atnaia by Western Isles nations has caught the news. One after the other, Athara Magarat, Corindia, Covonant, and Polar Svalbard denounced "human rights abuses" such as the debtor's camps and the gladiator games. The Atnaian government responded to the surge, calling it a "deliberate campaign of misinformation" and "a targeted attack" on Atnaian identity. In Ostehaar, hundreds of activists are expected to protest in front of the Atnaian embassy in Porohare tomorrow, for the 5th weekend in a row.

GOVERNMENT REVEALS CONTENT OF RECENT OSTEHAAR-KEVERAI TALKS; DFO TO AID KEVERAI IN BORDER-DEFENSE

Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Brahurer commented today on rumors regarding minister-level talks between Ostehaar and Keverai. Brahurer confirmed the reports and spoke about the outcome of these talk. "Given the sensitive nature of some of the issues at hand, we preferred to avoid discussing this until now," the Minister said, "but I am glad to announce that we have reached some agreements that should eventually benefit both sides."

The Oster-Keveran agreements, as detailed in an official government press release, include economic and energy-related cooperation, establishment of a second Oster consulate in Keverai, and a three-year aid plan for boosting Keveran border defenses. "Keverai acknowledges the Oster expertise in the field of electronic detection instruments, and the value of our experience in development of defense-related products," Minister Brahurer said today. Around 50 DFO specialists and advisers are expected to operate in Keverai with local authorities on installing advanced border-defense instruments and teaching the Keveran border-guard how to use them. "Ostehaar will supply this service voluntarily for the first year, after which a formal contract for the remaining two years will be signed."

'LAND DEAL': RDF SPOKESMAN ACCUSES INVESTIGATION COMMITTEE OF "OVERREACHING"

RDF spokesman Eran Soherger, in his first public appearance since the special investigation committee's request to access personal files of RDF directors, lashed out at the committee yesterday and accused it of "overreaching". Head of the investigation committee, Kala Sjvaher, commented on his words today, stating that she is "only trying to uncover the full truth" about the so-called 'land deal'. "We have already found evidence of misconduct in the organization last week, and that led Soherger to announce that the off-shore accounts we learned about were personal accounts and not RDF-affiliated accounts," Sjvaher said, "so we asked to see specific information from personal files in order to verify these claims."

A QUIET WEEK IN LOVSK: NO SIGNIFICANT INCIDENTS

The past week has seen no significant incidents in Lovsk, for the first time since the beginning of the recent outbreak of violence on the island. Several local protests and riots have taken place on Sunday and Thursday in and around Rovka - five Lovskians and two DFO soldiers were wounded in one of them. Last week 9 people, including 2 DFO soldiers, were killed in a terrorist attack at a checkpoint.

OSTERS CELEBRATE OSTEHERN ACROSS THE COUNTRY

Today 404 years ago the Oster nobility formally endorsed King Volakh I "The Wise", creating what is considered to this day the founding moment of the Oster nation - the first time all factions and families of the Oster people agreed to form a united kingdom. Ostehern, the day of Ostehaar, was celebrated today across the nation in ceremonies and community gatherings. Prime Minister Dorias is expected to speak this evening at the official government ceremony for Ostehern in Porohare, and President Den Heyes will attend the traditional commemoration event in central Haalban.

'LAND DEAL' INVESTIGATION: RDF FORCED TO RELEASE INFORMATION ON OFF-SHORE ACCOUNTS

Two months into the special investigation concerning alleged corruption in the RDF, more details are coming to light. So far, the Darna committee in-charge of the investigation has not found evidence linking Minister of Defense Dulikh to the affair. However, new material gathered by the committee from RDF offices in Lindastir seemed to suggest that the agency had unreported off-shore accounts in currently unnamed locations contrary to law. Eran Soherger, representing the RDF, said in response that any unreported accounts were not listed as RDF assets but as personal accounts of RDF employees. The full scope of the affair is yet unclear, but we expect to learn more in the next few weeks as the committee steps up its efforts.

FIRST SNOW OF THE SEASON HITS POROHARE

The first snow storm of the season pasted the Porohare District and parts of Haalban hills with up to 60 centimeters on Tuesday. DARNA REJECTS ARUN VALLEY PROTOCOL

Following allies Vancouvia and Ainslie, the Oster parliament had decided to reject the Arun Valley Protocol, calling it "an unnecessary intervention in nations' internal affairs". Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Brahurer commented on Athara Magarat's "test of diplomatic potential", as Jrm Hangma referred to it, and said that instead of "playing a strange game", the Demoktraik Kuunsrach could have simply called for minister-level talks. Meanwhile on Illa Isle, coordinator for VSF-DFO activities Dehn Si Grohnen expressed his assurance that the Vancouvian authorities would handle the situation. "Our ARRF forces in Base Tern are not in shortage of supplies at the moment," the general said, "but we are keeping an eye on the situation and of course we would assist Vancouvia in regaining control over the area if they would ask us to do so."

2 DFO SOLDIERS AND 7 LOVSKIANS KILLED IN ANOTHER TERRORIST ATTACK IN ROVKA

Nine people, including two Oster soldiers, were killed Tuesday evening in a terrorist attack against an army checkpoint outside the city of Rovka, west Lovsk. According to the DFO spokesman, at 9:35 pm a vehicle coming from the direction of the city slowed down for inspection at the checkpoint. As the soldiers approached a bomb went off, killing both of them and several local Lovskians who were waiting near the checkpoint. Four more soldiers and ten Lovskians were wounded in the attack. So far no group has claimed responsibility. This is the latest in the recent outbreak of violence on the island, after almost two years of Oster control.

ACTIVISTS PROTEST OUTSIDE OF THE ATNAIAN EMBASSY IN POROHARE, DEMAND CUTTING RELATIONS

For the third week in a row, hundreds of Oster peace and human rights activists marched this weekend from Grihnsjvahn Square in northern Porohare towards the Atnaian embassy. The activists arrived at the embassy gates and blocked the road access to the complex, demonstrating against the hegemony, its activities in Merrit Isle, and the debtors' camps. "Cut the crap - cut relations" the protesters shouted, referring to their recent demand that the Oster government would cut its ties with Atnaia. Oster government officials, as well as Atnaian representatives in Ostehaar, refused to comment on these protests, which add another stain to the deteriorating relations between the two nations.

ELA VEHES TO TOUR THE WESTERN ISLES

Oster singer-songwriter Ela Vehes to go on a four-month tour across The Western Isles in 2018, after almost a year of inactivity following the death of her brother. Vehes, a popular rock icon, said that the new tour will focus on new materials she had written since the release of her recent album "Awe" in 2015, but also on well-known hits she loves to play. "This is more of a vacation for me," she said in an interview on Monday, "and I'll be taking my time around each and every location." Specific dates for the tour will be announced by the end of December, and the tour is expected to begin around March, after a shorter two-month tour in Ostehaar.

TWO YEARS IN LOVSK: OPPORTUNITIES & TROUBLE

One of Ostehaar's leading and most influential columnists, Dr. Dehren Si Braant, visited FNN's studio earlier today to discuss his upcoming book about the situation in Lovsk. Si Braant, a well-established writer on matters of politics, international affairs, and defense, had been working on his sixth book since the Lovsk conflict first started. "I knew it was significant enough so I immediately started collecting material and information," he said in an interview a few weeks ago. "My hopes were to eventually be able to both look at the entire issue from an objective perspective and examine the subjective responses by the various 'players'."

By 'players' Si Braant referred to the public, the government, the military, the Lovskian government and the Lovskian opposition groups. "This is a crucial thing to understand," he points out, "that not a single 'player' managed to completely dominate the agenda for the entire length of the conflict. Sure, the government had the upper hand during the last few months of 2015, but the horrific public execution of Dihn Gahler in Rovka changed everything and created a series of events that the government, and certainly the military, did not prepare for. The military then gradually gained control, but it was only temporary." In his book, Si Braant analysed the reasons, motives, and consequences of every important incident and decision during these two years of conflict. He used unclassified documents, texts written by Lovskian nationalists, social media reports on daily events, and also private blogs and interviews with key individuals. "I even spoke with one of the leaders of the Lovskian opposition, a person probably responsible for quite a few attacks against our troops," he admits, "although I wasn't allowed to see him directly and wasn't told where he was during the conversation, of course."

Image
Dr. Dehren Si Braant, today

The Lovsk conflict began roughly two years ago, in the late summer of 2015, when local hostility towards the Oster businesses on the island peaked. Most experts place the origin of that round of violence in 2013's Lovskian demonstrations against their own government, which refused to nationalize the metal mining industry and kick the Oster companies out. "The Levenburg [i.e. official] government is infested with corruption," a Lovsk citizen told FNN reporters at the time, "it sells its own people for cash while the Osters enjoy tax rates of nearly 0%." The Lovskian anger grew, and in 2015 the first "metal for blood" graffiti inscription appeared outside an Oster factory in Rovka, the largest stronghold of the Lovskian opposition. "The Levenburg-Rovka issue played an important role back then," Si Braant explains, "the distrust between the Lovskians in the west, in Rovka, and the eastern Lovskians around Levenburg was close to the breaking point, and what we did was to defuse most of it by turning the general population against us."

On December 9th the Dihn Gahler incident happened, and the Oster government decided that it was time to remove the Lovskian opposition from the equation by force. Hundreds of troops and dozens of armored vehicles took control of the island within days, turning the place into the "Lovsk Island Protectorate" - a temporary title that was never changed. According to Si Braant, there was never a formal decision to keep the forces on the island. "The government and the military decided on an aggressive response, and in order to accomplish that they practically had to secure the entire island. The initial intention was to come, remove, and leave, but the reality on the ground prevented a quick solution and we had to keep sending people in. Next thing you know we opened a huge joint Oster-Vancouvian military base, and in March this year we actually considered inviting Noronnican forces in to combat the SOAR threat after a terrorist attack in Gwynon."

"The current situation is very fragile," the Dr. tells us. "Think of a covered boiling pot that is about to burst. We have been keeping the island on this 'temporary' status for almost two years, while underneath the surface we failed to deal with the Lovskian nationalist movement that has been growing and developing." According to the DFO, attacks against Oster troops and factories have become more frequent in 2017. Altogether since January 2016, 27 Oster soldiers and 5 Lovskian government officers were killed in clashes with the local opposition and 65 were injured; 4 Oster citizens were killed and 12 were injured; and 120 Lovskian citizens were killed and 260 were injured - around three quarters of them opposition terrorists, according to the military.

Some people fear that the current Oster administration may initiate another round of violence in Lovsk to divert public attention back to the island, while at home the government faces allegations of corruption - some of which might even involve the Minister of Defense himself. Si Braant dismissed these claims. "While I am not a fan of Minister Dulikh, a fact that everybody knows, there is a limit to how cynical I can be," he says. "I have no doubt that this government will never initiate violence just to spin public attention. I do expect violence to increase in Lovsk in 2018 unless we take some drastic measures to prevent it."

TYPHOON NATE LEAVES DOZENS DEAD; DISASTER RELIEF TEAMS SENT TO KAVJU SEA NATIONS

Disaster relief teams from covonant and Verona Beach were joined by their Oster counterparts this week in Port Calta, West Suomi, Cantonos, and Samudera. Typhoon Nate - the strongest tropical storm in this part of The Western Isles in years - has ravaged the west Kavju Sea nations, bringing severe destruction and floods. The total number of people killed in the storm is still unclear, but initial reports point to many dozens, perhaps hundreds. National emergency was declared in Samedura after Sanggar island was hit and the city of Sailendra was left crippled.

According to the Samuderan Meteorological Office, typhoon Nate turned north towards Ainslie, but it is expected to disperse upon making landfall there. G4's emergency response force was put on high alert, ready to handle humanitarian aid efforts in Ainslie if any would be needed. "Politics play no role in this event," head of the Darna Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee said earlier today as the decision to send aid was announced. "They are our neighbors, and we cannot ignore it and let them lay in ruins. About two years ago, when the great ice storm struck Ostehaar, our neighbors came to our help as well."

THE PLOT THICKENS: MINISTER OF DEFENSE INVOLVED IN ALLEGED 'LAND DEAL'

Almost a week after last Friday's exclusive FNN report and merely three days after the Prime Minister's instruction to begin an investigation, new details are coming to light in what is now referred to as 'RDF-Gate' by the opposition. Updated reports suggest that Minister of Defense Aarin Dulikh was involved in the 'land deal', and even authorized some of the contracts with the RDF himself.

The Minister commented on the accusation, saying that it is "preposterous" and "lacks any factual basis". An official press release by the Prime Minister's office stated that an investigation is still ongoing, and therefore any information circulating on social or public media is nothing but rumors. This has not prevented the opposition's most prominent voice, 'New Ostehaar' party leader Mikahel Si Ardner, from demanding that Minister Dulikh would voluntarily suspend himself from office.

'MITSJ' ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM 'ATRIUM' TO BE RELEASED IN 2018

"The Prince of Oster rock", now 60 year-old Aamit Sjeherin, announced the title and release date of his upcoming album during a concert in Erdehare this Wednesday: On January 15th the songster will issue Atrium. At a press event this morning in Haalban 'Mitsj' spoke of the creative process behind the expected album.

"This has been an eventful year," he said. "My father had passed away after prolonged neurological illness. After having experienced first-hand what it's like to see a person gradually losing his sense of self, I was left with an unusual feeling that I wanted to reflect upon, and I did so in my songs. In addition, my son was drafted to the DFO in late 2016 and was stationed in Lovsk, which made me constantly worry for his well-being. I've gone through several combinations of fear, anxiety, relief, and nostalgia, so I had a lot to write about."

Atrium will be Sjeherin's 10th solo album, coming after his 2016 album Pick and a short tour around Ostehaar and selected places in the region. Mikahel Vortes, Sjeherin's longtime friend who also collaborated with him on many projects, joined the Erdehare show and congratulated Sjeherin. "For years you've been calling him 'the Prince'," Vortes shouted to the audience, "it's time to start calling him 'the King'!"

Ticking Flu Reaches Promwell, Coldwater and St. Luke's

COLDWATER, COLDWATER PREFECTURE, ATNAIA - Despite the best efforts of health authorities, confirmed cases of the Ticking Flu have been found in more cities around Atnaia. In addition, more cases have been discovered in Black Hill, bringing the total number of infected up to thirty-one, with six confirmed casualties.

"We at the NHS and associated research concerns are operating around the clock to deal with the growing concern of the Ticking Flu," said NHS spokesperson Della Jung. "There is no cause for panic."

"Well an exact timeline is variable, we are finding a trend for infection," said Dr. Hines Luis of the ARK Center for Disease Research in Ambress. "The disease is most infectious among those with an already decreased immuno-suppression response, such as the elderly, the young, those without proper diets or sleep behaviours. We've found that the disease is particularly prevalent in some workhouses. If you meet these requirements, you are at a greater risk of contracting the disease and should be vigilant. We remind citizens to eat properly, sleep regularly and maintain a good level of physical fitness if you want to avoid infection. In addition, there have been ties between the Ticking Flu and smoking. We believe that the disease has an easier time infecting damaged tissue in the lungs in the initial stages. Smokers should also be vigilant."

The ARK:CDR has also confirmed that the disease initially presents with flu-like symptoms, before subsiding for a period of about 24 to 48 hours before returning upon shift to the nervous system. If you present flu-like symptoms and begin to feel better, this may not represent a lack of infection, and you should still seek medical attention.

"Ibuprofen is not a replacement for proper healthcare," said Jung. "You aren't going to cure your twitching with over the counter drugs."

"We have found that marijuana and similar sedatives may help ease symptoms," said Hines. "However, smoking can still cause damage to the lungs. If you are going to utilize marijuana as an aid during time of infection, we recommend consuming in the form of vapour or edible stand-ins."

With the number of cases growing, and deaths on the record, some Atnaians are wondering whether the foreign hype over the outbreak holds some merit.

"The government was pretty swift to write off foreign concerns," said noted critic of the Quorum and Merrit Independence League advocate, Kyle Rhjsh.

The Quorum would like to remind citizens not to panic, and to seek medical attention if they display any symptoms.

A.R.R.F. FIRST JOINT EXERCISE TAKES PLACE IN ARVAN; MAY INCLUDE 'SURPRISES'

Oster, Noronnican, and Vancouvian warships, planes, and soldiers have begun a joint military exercise - the first of its kind involving the three allied nations. Roughly 8,000 troops of the Argean Rapid Response Force are taking part in the week-long "Northern Sun I" exercise, demonstrating for the first time the deployment capabilities of the joint force. Initially planned to take place in Lovsk, the exercise was moved to Arvan, with its slightly warmer climate. Military correspondent suggested that it may be due to the recent surge in communist proxy activity in Gael.

Oster Air Force Wing Commander Johan Vehes said this activity with Ostehaar's allies is extremely useful: "The aim of the exercise is to enhance the operational capability of the ARRF by extending the knowledge of each other's tactics. In essence, we get to practice our planning and coordination in the combined joint operational procedures within the region."

The Oster commander in charge, Gen. Rikard Kaarter said he was always happy to work with the Vancouvian allies and with the Noroniccan partners. It is something he has been doing for many years now. "We are looking forward to sharing techniques, tactics and procedures," Kaarter said, "we brief and debrief together every day."

During the ongoing exercise, paratroopers and marine forces of the ARRF are cooperating closely in storming target positions. According to the Oster Ministry of Defense, several batches of the Oster Special Forces have already began operations with allied forces, and naval vessels of all three parties have already performed joint targeting of coastal positions.

Military officials hinted that in later phases, larger force formations are expected to begin operations - including Oster ground units, Vancouvian naval aviation forces, and Noronnican ships and Nyssic units. FNN's military correspondent said that there are rumors of several 'surprises' which might be revealed during the current exercise - for example, a new type of Noronnican amphibious assault ship, new increased-accuracy missile systems developed by Oster industries, and perhaps even the testing of long-range surface-to-surface missiles by Vancouvian naval units. At the moment, FNN can't verify any of these.

Gwynon Terrorist Attack

Scenes of violence in Gwynon - Warning: Images may disturb

At 11:30 pm last night, the streets of southern Gwynon erupted into armed violence with a coordinated terrorist attack believed to have originated from the terrorist group SOAR.

For at least two decades, Noronica has not witnessed a large-scale act of terrorism on home soil. The last time such an attack occurred was after the Civil War when small cells of Fascist insurgents plagued the new Noronnican administration. Last night, that changed when a large-scale terrorist attack erupted in the city of Gwynon.

According to Bureau of Internal Security investigators, the violence began in 'The Lonely Mountain', a pub in the southern Inner city of Gwynon. The original group managed to take Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine guns into the pub, using them to murder all the customers inside the pub, including the various waiters and the bartender, Miss Rosa André, who had been working at the pub for four years. Some of the other casualties included a Police Sergeant, Sergeant James Hoping, who appeared to be on his night off with some other police officers.

The group then moved out from the pub and several other armed members joined them in the street where the shootings continued. Two bombs also went off in the eastern part of the city, killing twenty people. The Bureau of Internal Security was mobilised to deal with the threat, sending one hundred armoured officers into the scene, where they managed to swiftly curb any further attack. Several members of the group were killed while many remain in BIS custody.

The attack seems to have been perpetrated by the terrorist group, SOAR. The Sons of Asorist Retribution are an international terrorist organisation, originally formed by survivors of the Atnaian Asorist rebellion of 2016. The members who were detained by the BIS revealed that it was SOAR, and it was further revealed that some of the members originated from Lovsk, the Oster island protectorate next to Noronica's maritime borders.

It is unclear whether Noronica shall be taking military action, but the Round Table has given statements detailing their 'disgust' and 'horror' at the attacks, promising that this attack shall not go without 'punishment'. The Round Table representative declined to answer what was going to happen next, but experts believe that the next step will be Noronnican troops on the ground in Lovsk.

The entire death toll for last night's attack is 64 people, with 21 casualties currently in hospital, some in critical condition.
