Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar. Loaned to me by a friend like most of the books I've read recently but I just bought a pile of books today.

As I’m sure we’re all well aware, there is a point at which you can no longer develop the game and must prepare it for release. And if that means the game is unfinished, feature bare or just not fun people will complain and not buy it. That's just the way it goes. TBH if you buy a game nowadays the...

TBH if you buy a game nowadays the day it was released, you're basically asking to be let down. Some games now seem to still be under production for months after they're released.

Playing CK2 as a relatively peaceful muslim ruler of Sicily, focusing on building universities and writing scientific papers. Pope calls a crusade against me and demolishes me, I'm only left with some holdings I inherited in Spain. Now I'm turning my formidable learning skill of 42 towards taking m...

Well, the practical version is something like my grandparents old cottage - small but with a decently sized garden - except closer to a major city like Dublin. Room for myself and my partner and pets and guests to live comfortably. The dream house though? I'd have to go with something gothic. Big ol...

Actually, as far as I remember, the popes in the early middle ages were quite dynastic, in a similar way to how merchant republics are represented in CK2. A few families of Rome vying for power in order to receive that sweet sweet tax on pilgrims. Wasn't until maybe the 12th century renaissance or ...

When I first started getting in to ck2 I really wanted to do a muslim pope run, but I didn't realise that they somehow haven't released a theocracy DLC yet. They did, (“Sons of Abraham”) it just doesnt really allow you to play as a theocracy still. CK2 focuses on dynasties... and the popes werent d...

Been getting really into CK2 recently but does anyone else get instant random gameovers when peasants revolt? Was playing a game as a patrician of Venice, had about 400 troops I could raise, then there was a Cathar revolt with 3,000 troops and all I could do was watch game over arrive. Gotta be at l...

Heard that. It's going to be awhile before I'll be able to see it since I don't intend to go to New York anytime soon. Unpopular opinion, I actually don’t like popcorn and buy corndogs at the movie theatre instead. I only know of corndogs because they're so ubiquitous in American media, but I have ...

So the newest Aladdin trailer actually looks kinda fun. I'm still sure this trend of remaking old Disney movies is pointless but this is one I'll probably buy a ticket to see. I'm surprised they didn't slap a few white people into it just to whip of the free marketing that controversy brings. So th...

On the subject of bizarre dreams, has anyone else here ever dreamed about being in whatever tv show you're watching? When I was younger, I used to read a fair bit more than I do now ( :( ) and the first thing I used to do in the morning the moment I woke up would be to grab my book and continue whe...

[Draft]A Wondrous Issue

Found this issue I had started working on saved deep in my google drive. Needs some work, but any initial suggestions? [Title]A Wondrous Issue [Debate]After a recent disaster in Macronesia, the World Assembly Tourism Committee is naming a new official seventh wonder of the world and is calling for n...

I'm late to this conversation, but I'd just like to say that anyone who produces a generalised, surface level, one-sentence analysis of complex historical events centuries or millennia ago, and uses this to demonstrate something about the modern world or make a point about the validity of their poli...

This was a fantastic book. Now reading Donald W. Engels' Alexander the Great and the Logistics of the Macedonian Army + Polybius' The Rise of the Roman Empire . Engels' book is far more interesting than the title would lead you to believe. I've generally found that true of Engels, he's quite overlo...

While some would consider plain flags boring, I think they're kinda cool and unique. Having a plain black flag might throw some people off though - the symbolism doesn't really work, considering your sig.#
