"Things have begun to smell stale around here," said Karl Bergens, Enrik's immensely rotund boss. The man's buttons on a shirt too small to contain the shape of his fat rolls seemed about to burst from the pressure, much like the hair had burst off his head over the years. He smelled too. ...

1. That's fair enough. 2. That's also fair enough. What I meant by paying the tax, though, is that patented business had a price advantage compared to its competitors. The subsidy factors into the price of its product; all else equal, it will be able to sell at a lower price point than its competito...

The point of this system isn't to maximize tax revenue but to maximize tax revenue growth (i.e. the productive economy). Rent-seekers will face competition from those who have access to the information of the patent itself and are aggressively trying to undercut them. Even if the inventor is subsid...

Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? , Philip K. Dick. It's a fairly thin volume, but very engrossing. I actually enjoy the book much more than I did the famous film adaptation, Blade Runner. I love Phillip K. Dick, but I've never read the book. With that kind of endorsement I'll have to pick it up.

International Incidents has more to do with what the name suggests and Nationstates with character RPing, but generally speaking they cover similar ground. Factbooks and National Informati...

There is no question that in the future coding is going to get easier and easier. But something I feel you are missing is that we as an industry are working hard to not just make it easier but make it go away entirely. Can two puppet nations unite under one government and leader through wars, or political union? Anything in taste is okay, but all too often the only purpose is to add to your population. But if your intentions are to enrich the story, it's okay. Edit: When I say "it's okay," I mean how it...
