So I finished A Blinking Light Up On The Clouded Mountain , a long and quite good fanfic putting Welcome to Night Vale into the world of His Dark Materials , from the perspective of Carlos the Experimental Theologian. It worked fairly well, though I think having a scientist as the POV character unr...

That's exactly like me with any kind of chocolate. See, I like chocolate, but not that much. I want it now and then, but never in large quantities. The salty snacks are definitely the bigger issue for me. These days I just tend not to buy chocolate, or if I do, it's the small ones. I like being thi...

Same. 100% same.

I'm pretty sure the author of the fanfic I'm reading has played Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, because some of the quotes they're using as chapter introductions are exactly as I remember them from SMAC. I played that game a lot in my teen years. It's probably my favourite game of all time.

Yay indeed! Actually, another one just occurred to me; the protagonist in Charles Stross' Neptune's Brood , Krina Alizond, is also asexual. Oh! And the protagonist of Anne Leckie's Ancillary series, Breq Ghaiad, is apparently asexual (well, mostly. Breq is ... complicated in ways that might spoil t...

A pickled heart would be really tough and chewy. In vaguely heart-related news, the fanfic I'm reading has an asexual protagonist. I think this might be the only thing I've read in which an asexual person is the main character. Yay asexual representation, I feel loved. Yay indeed! Actually, another...

Would boilnig it in water for a few seconds fix it? Just swab it with some alcohol, come on! A pickled heart would be really tough and chewy. Nononononononono. As a fellow anime lover, I must say it goes grimdark, but there is a point to said grimdarkness. Do watch, please do. RIP in peace Yellow Meguca. Never forget. The weird thing is that, thanks to learning about them from fanfic, I have little idea of which one is which colour, and ...

Well, that explains it then. I believe pangolins are the cutest of the weird animals. This is true! I've never actually watched Madoka Magica , since I've heard it described as "magical girls plus crippling depression" and I have to say reading the fanfic certainly seems to reinforce that...

It seems not, though it's been implied that the ordinary infantry have powered armour. If you want magical girls and mecha, Lagrange: The Flower of Rin-Ne is the anime for you. The only magical girls I currently follow the adventures of, are those featured in the webcomic Sleepless Domain . This co...

Today I've been reading To The Stars , a Madoka Magica fanfic set four hundred years in the future during a war with aliens. It feels like the author read and re-read the works of John Scalzi while simultaneously watching and re-watching Madoka Magica . The main appeal is the surprisingly robust wo...

Can't say I'm familiar with the Equestria Girls spinoff, but then I was hardly familiar with Katawa Shoujo either. And I enjoyed the Discworld/MLP crossover. Added to the pile! Yay! : D It's neither of those things, to be fair, but it is a cute lesbian girls romance, so there you go. :P Well, you h...

The problem with Byzantium is that they don't have any innate boosts to the speed they accumulate faith points at, so if, say, Ethiopia or the Celts are in the game, you can get beaten to the good religious perks. And as a mid-game focused civ, you can always be in trouble if you start next to the ...

There's no such thing as a duty to TET , which is one of the things I like about it. :) Right now I'm up late reading fanfic. I was hoping to get an early night's sleep but the neighbours and their "rap music at 1am" plan disagreed. Do you not have duties towards those you consider friend...

I should check if that one fanfic that has Pinkie Pie perform Rite Of Ashk-Enke and change places with Death of Discworld has finally updated Speaking of fan-fic, I recently found a duterte anime floating around the internets. Count to ten before the hentai starts rolling out, if it hasn't already....

It's annoying when fanfic ends abruptly. At least Dungeon Keeper Ami updates sometimes. I really need to get back to my own writing before my courage to continue ossifies and dies, too. Not that I have readers as such, but I enjoy it while I'm writing it, and the point to it is that I'm writing it,...

For me, well, I've always had problems with evaluating my own work. I'm told that when I was young I used to scribble it out with black crayon. So I have trouble continuing if I think it's not good enough ... or if I think it's too good and that I won't be able to keep it up. And a lot of the time ...

Read finished work? :P Well, writing doesn't have to be perfect, it's actually the imperfections and little quirks that makes creating art (Whether it be literature, painting/drawing, etc...) fun.
