I checked again and it still works fine for me on both Chrome and Firefox. I wouldn't be shocked if Opera doesn't work, or older versions of the above browsers. Also possibly if you're running some kind of ad blocker or similar browser mod that interferes with loading, that might break it. If you en...

Thanks, that helped me track down a problem with API whitelisting. You should never encounter a CloudFlare check there; let me know if you do.

Does the Region API messages shard use Unicode? Not really, no. It outputs UTF-8 after attempting to reconstruct it from a database that contains a mix of different encodings, support for which were bolted on one at a time as the web became steadily less ASCIIish. So it works fine 99% of the time b...

At the moment I don't know what you're attempting to post. Can you please do this: 1. Create a dispatch with your desired text via the regular website. So this presumably looks right. (If it doesn't, it isn't an API issue.) 2. Create a duplicate dispatch with the exact same text via the API. This pr...

[violet], I don't know whether the changes you made in this thread were also meant to help with API requests. However, the CAPTCHA test still shows up for the same API calls I had discovered in the OP. The API is (supposedly) whitelisted and you should never encounter a CloudFlare check there. If y...

Thanks - these are being fixed slowly.

We had an important system break during an influx of new traffic, which caused a bunch of things to get out of sync.

I do look into this from time to time, because it would be really nice. There are some obstacles, though, because of incompatible CSS support with SVG vs PNG/JPEG, as well as a few issues around how we currently handle images in the uploader (e.g. testing image size, adding ripple effects). So it's ...

API version number has been bumped to 11: from this version onwards, it supports UTF8-encoded uploaded content (e.g. in dispatch text).

If you require the older method, specify version 10 or earlier via the "v" parameter: https://www.nationstates.net/pages/api.html#versions

This is now fixed. I hadn't added UTF8 support to the API because until recently you couldn't upload any content to it. But now you can post Dispatches, so it's needed. There still may be a few oddities because, as Fris says, our character encoding is a bit of a mess. But the API should now be consi...

Yep, we had to block Discord as an image-host because of problematic usage. Existing posts are okay, but you will hit the check if you edit or create a post that embeds images from there.

Ah, right. I took a snapshot of the page just before the new Election, which of course only showed active nations in the tally. I have the data backed up so can recreate the page to include ex-nations as well.

Yes, a candidate can drop out at any time until the very end. Running Mates can also be changed at any time all the way through. Another question, wil...

Okay it is IMPLEMENTED, but this may be the fastest I've ever coded anything, so it may be horribly buggy. Let me know of any issues! SSL is such a nightmare. It could be a bunch of things, but my first guess is that there's no overlap between the SSL protocols offered by your script and the SSL protocols supported by CloudFlare - since these change fairly often over time as cryptographic standards evolve. So possibly you were rel...

Okay, let's do something about this. The easiest fix to me seems to be to enforce the suppression ratelimit only on posts older than about 24 hours. Because the goal is to prevent a malicious new Delegate/RO from going back in time and suppressing everything ever posted, which is a pain to clean up....
