*snip* Oh, sure, but there's any number of informed speculations available on e.g. Project Rho or (for very serious speculations) ArXiv. A few of them might even be right. :P Even if the real answers are ignored in favor of plot, a name and a consistent description of a ship's power plant and propu...

Nooooo!

Lets look at the thing I drew instead; Fighters v Missiles is possibly even more painful than Mechs v Tanks!

I don't know PHP, but it looks like a lot of other scripting languages. 'course, if the PHP is interpreted, just compiling it will speed things up nicely, and from there, optimization is straightforward. It's been a long time since I've played with squeal, but it's a simple language, and IIRC, ther...

Some examples at phpbb.com

I'd suggest searching around. There are tutorials for just about everything on that list. If you familiarize yourself with HTML, it should be fairly obvious how to do others, too.

I think the link is broken. It is. I tried to get into it, and got an error message The site is currently dead. Which you'd know if you'd bothered to read anything other than the first post. The thread has become a discussion of possibly getting it back up again. Sorry guys, I've been very busy at ...

Sorry guys, I've been very busy at the tail end crunch time of a project. It's not done yet, but it should be wrapping up in a week or so, and then I really honestly actually can take a look at the source code to see what I can do. I can offer no promises in terms of timescale, but it's something I...

Something looks weird in this case, because the uploaded image is actually being upsized. It goes from 123x122 to 214x213. The size also scales from 11.56kb to 26.53kb. Something in the resizer is not working properly in this case.

After some investigation, I don't think kickstarter is going to work. For one, this would be barely skirting the edge of their acceptable project policy. For two, there's no way to restrict the project in any way. I don't want people from kickstarter going and seeing this project to host a random m...

But 200-500 bucks for hosting? That's expensive man! Very. Mindset's map is SUPER server intensive. Very poorly optimized. His old host had unlimited most everything. But apparently it went out of business. And most decently priced servers nowadays have issue with you taking up over 50% of the CPU ...

I have yet to receive anything back from mindset about optimizing the code lately, so for now we'll assume that we'll need a high or unlimited CPU host. These run (on average) somewhere between $25 - $40 a month. Expect between $200 and $500 for a year of hosting. The question at this point is would...

Storefronts could actually charge for their goods, which would make the GE&T economy much more realistic and interesting. Currently, the board only consists of "I wish to buy 3,000 sammiches," "That will be $40,000," "Okay, here's the money" - even if everything is...

I can almost guarantee you they won't. As an alternative why not use something like pastebin which does lots of syntax highlighting and just post a link?

I just figured out that by doing the tag [ code=php ] you can colorcode stuff. $variable="string hello world";if strpos($variable) != 1{echo "something";} else {if strpos($variable) = 7 {echo "something else";}}  What other flags can you put in the [ code ] tag? By fiddling, not many. Indeed, of th...

Keeping everyone updated again. Mindset seems to be interested in playing with the new coding toys that have come out since 2009 (when the map was first released) so we may actually see some improvements of the source before release. Maybe. Nothing has been done yet and there are no guarantees but h...
