It's finally here: Nate Silver's 2020 Election Forecast! As of now, Biden wins 71 out of 100 times but don't count out Trump just yet : it's still August and the conventions nor debates have occurred yet. Some of the uncertainty is due to the time left until the election. They ran the simulation as...

I mean, that's sort of the point. The House goes by population, while the Senate is fixed at 2. This was a debate during the constitutional convention, but I think the smaller states have a point: They will get overshadowed by the larger ones if both houses were apportioned according to population....

There are exactly two elements we can burn in the near to mid term to maintain the lifestyle to which we have become accustomed. One, carbon, causes runaway global warming. The other, plutonium, does not. That nuclear power reactors have been built on the cheap and failed or that not enough thought ...

Should the US get rid of the Senate?

California, with nearly 12% of the US population, has 2 Senators. The 21 least-populated states, with barely more than 11% of the US population, have 42 Senators. California and Texas have over 1/5 of the US population and 4 Senators. The 28 least-populated states have less than 1/5 of the US popula...

Ilhan Omar's main challenger Antone Melton-Meaux has conceded per local media so that's that. Take a suck fascists, she'll be in the House just as long as she wants to be along with the rest of the Squad. As for the Harris pick I can't imagine they haven't been polling the shit out of that so any el...

( Image ) There were 343,358 cast in 2018, so still a ways to go, but it looks like Rep. Omar is hanging on for another two years. Unless my boy Les Lester can pull off a come-from-behind victory. Returns from MN-5 , Ilhan Omar with 57% to 40% for her main opponent who was bankrolled by corporate and Israel lobby interests. 90% reporting and who knows how many absentee ballots out, they are valid if received by this Thursday, but it looks like the last Squad member has turned back a fairly m...

I'm after thinking courts don't go en banc in order to confirm the prejudices of a panel. The only question is will this play out in a timeframe that will force Trump to pardon and/or commute in the middle of an election campaign he's bound to lose anyway. And as for Kayleigh, the only thing she's ...

"Silly Love Songs" (1976) by Wings. I was surprised to hear it at the grocery store yesterday, but I don't mind the song. It was actually a "take that" toward the critics: they complained he was writing too many sappy songs, so he went and wrote another one that's very blatant a...

Off topic but am I the only one who, when listening to some of my favorites on YouTube, gets ads for Medicare plans? OK it's usually Steely Dan, Talking Heads, B-52s, Ramones and such but still.

It amuses me to no end that only third party voters get two votes. To Biden supporters, they’re backing trump, and to trump supporters they’re backing Biden. Kinda preaching to the choir. Roughly 51% of American voters want Biden and 48% want Trump. Convince one group of those 150 million Americans...

No. Fucking no. Vote third party. When they're sitting there after election day picking up the pieces let them look at exactly why they didn't get your vote and exactly how they can in the future. That shifts party platforms whether or not your candidate wins. As long as we agree to choose between ...

I am going to disregard my moral reasons I wouldn't vote for either of them. Considering the long-lasting effects of nuclear warfare, not to mention how its only use in history was against civilian population and it is all but guaranteed to always put civilians at unnecessary risk... yeah, it should be considered a war crime to use nukes. “Some even believe” and “enviro against war”. Not really a convincing argument. Where is your actual evidence? Such as documents proving the US military ordered the war egoist here “slowed down” for that purpose. Also just the other day you said we should have prolonged the war and waited for milli...
