I’m glad you got through it all right. I don’t think Angels and demons are real. In some countries people see the Buddha, in some countries people see Mohammed, in some countries people see Jesus. I think it’s more reasonable to explain this phenomenon as a projection of our experiences and culture ...

For someone who doesn’t want insults of other people‘s religions to invade this thread, you sure were quick to call people who disagreed with you “oblivious” in your OP.

It would be hard for me to say no to a relationship that lead to less economic barriers, more relaxed immigration, etc. Not to mention a strengthened economic/diplomatic bond with Europe would make taking action against the likes of china and Russia more feasible.

Are they ? Let us look at two things that used to be "core values" of christians: humility and being willing to admit one was wrong . Both have been incredibly important for humanity - as I argued before one can even make a case for them being required to develop the scientific method. No...

You must admit they're a large minority, to be fair. Not really. A loud minority, maybe. 24% is pretty large. That’s the percent of people that believe that the Bible is the literal word of God. Now that doesn’t necessarily imply creationism, but there’s more. Depending on how you asked the questio...

It’s one thing to like the idea of the world Having a unified purpose and basic set of ideas (freedom, democracy, secularism, equality, etc.), But it’s another to literally unify the world governments. It’s bad enough with just 50.

Personally, I err on the side of there not being a God, but I'm not remotely sure. The universe, for the most part functions as it would if there were no divine intervention in it (at least from the big bang onward). And I haven't seen much compelling evidence for, or many compelling reasons to put...

Fair enough point, it wasn't worship. But the rest of it still stands. Allah created the Jinn with "free will" (which is a contestable point to say the least.) He created Satan knowing he would be pious enough to join the angels. He created humans out of clay, knowing Satan would view the...

I didn't say sin, I said demonic persuasion. Doesn't it say that Satan can deceive infidels but not believers? Allah is still responsible. Allah created the Jinn with "free will" (which is a contestable point to say the least.) He created Satan knowing he would be pious enough to join the...

But didn't Allah give Iblis the ability to lie and tempt non-believers? How are we to be fully blamed for our actions when Allah makes non-believers especially vulnerable to demonic persuasion? The Qur’ân never says non-Muslims are more susceptible to sinning. Additionally, Iblis (Satan) is a jinn....

To be fair, if God is all powerful and created humanity, as well as all knowing, that means he planned out every sin in advance. Islam says he gave us free will, so it’s our fault. But didn't Allah give Iblis the ability to lie and tempt non-believers? How are we to be fully blamed for our actions ...

It's God which gives you the bill for all the shit you have done. People trying to shift to God their own responsibilities (or to anyone else, really) is what immaturity is. God clearly set us up to fail. He got to choose what the punishment for sin was, he created us morally weak enough to bend to...

Well I can only really speak from the perspective of an ex-Christian. If Allah or Vishnu or whoever wants me to believe in them, they know my number. So I don’t mean to strawman you, I just know a lot less about the different sects of Buddhism than I do Christianity. I never said that A and B are mutually exclusive. But believing that has its own problems: 1. It’s hard to accept that the Bible is God inspired, when the existence of God has yet to be demonstrated. 2.Theoretically if that were proven, you’d have to prove that the Bible (and depending on your deno...

1&2. I agree those are reasonable explanations when we assume it written by fallible human beings. But then were the many debates that took place during the early church to make sure that the we canonized the right scriptures ultimately in vain? We don't know many of the authors, and even the o...

"We can't know, but leaning no." It's one of those questions whose ridiculousness is its own premise. Sure we don't know that the Earth is secretly run by a subterranean lizard cabal, but we can probably be assured it isn't due to lack of hard evidence. Yeah. "Why should we believe i...

I mean that's a big question. There is absolutely no evidence in favour of such a thing, and mountains of evidence against pretty well every specific god ever proposed, so it would very much appear not. 1. I haven't seen much evidence besides "we can't see it so it doesn't exist," so have...
