Your Coat of Arms

Postby Ostronopolis » Thu Jun 25, 2009 1:29 pm

Please post your coat of arms, seal whatever you want to call it, and if you have one. I think it would be cool to see some of the designs you guys have come up with.

The cross represents Volzgrad's fanatical beliefs in Roman Catholicism and Christianity as a whole. The tri-color beneath the cross represents the flag of Pan-slavism, which is an ideal held dear by all Volzgradiens. The dark grey wolf is a revered symbol of Volzgrad and is our national animal.

I've been trying to make a coat of arms for my nations centered around the banner of the Empire:
Image (pretty much our flag), but I have no talent for such things.

Would it be possible for one of NS's fine artists to aid me in creating a coat of arms for the Tenkterian Empire?

What I'm looking for is sorta like a combination of these two C.o.A.'s,

http://i861.photobucket.com/albums/ab17 ... densvg.png
http://i861.photobucket.com/albums/ab17 ... rmssvg.png

but as far as the flags are concerned--they're replaced with my own flag (as seen above). Thanks to anyone who can help!

EDIT!: Oi, and Jeuna's looks absolutely FANTASTICH! Jeuna, if you would consider helping, I'd be very grateful.

Being a semi-anarchist nation, I have no coat of arms. But really, this is only an excuse for my not having a picture. That said, I'll describe what I think my personal coat of arms should be.

An upside-down five pointed star, half-red and half-black, with a white Circle-A in the middle. Two curved Olive branches flank the sides (In the same way you would traditionally see sheaves of wheat or laurel leaves), with a white five-pointed star at the point where they intersect. Above all this is a double-headed duck somehow holding an industrial hammer and either a sickle, farmer's how, or pen in its webbed feet. Dark-Red Flags flank the sides (Like in Jeuna's), and I'm figuring out how to utilize a Coyote somewhere in this.

The symbology:
The larger, upside down star with the circle-A is obviously anarchist. The double-headed duck is there because it looks less fascist than a double-headed eagle while still retaining most of the Aquila's awesomeness, and the fact that it is holding the worker's tools shows that 1. It's fucking heroic, since it's almost physically impossible for a duck to hold everything in its webbed feet and 2. it's supposed to be Communist/Socialist symbolism (Worker's Tools). The White Star is white because I'm 1. From Texas (The Lone Star) and 2. mostly pacifist IRL. The Olive Branch is there for the same reason as the 2nd one for the white star. And, of course, the red flags tie in with the political symbolism. The Coyote is there because it's an infinitely awesome animal.

I have my PC now, but It will certainly take a while before I can use Gimp on it again (I tried downloading Gimp on the mac, it didn't work), and because of the massive fucking hippiefest I'm leaving for this monday, it will take me a fuckload of time to make this.

Here we go - It is a shield with a Red Hand of Ulster (The Ulaid were the ancient people of Ulster) representing the state surrounded by a Laurel wreath representing the strength of the nation. The shield, without the wreath appears on the Civil and State flag.

The Red Hand is an ancient Irish Celtic symbol. At one point the Kingdom of Ulster had at one time no rightful heir. Because of this it was agreed that a boat race should take place and that "whosoever's hand is the first to touch the shore of Ulster, so shall he be made the king". One potential king so loved and desired Ulster that, upon seeing that he was losing the race, he cut off his hand and threw it to the shore — thus winning the kingship. The hand is most likely red to represent the fact that it would have been covered in blood. (Wikipedia)
