How hard is YN language?

Postby Cavila » Sat Dec 10, 2016 6:42 pm

Being a Romance language based strongly off of Latin, Cavilan is an inflicted language, with seven cases (all of the Latin cases plus an instrumental case) and four noun declensions (one of animate nouns, one of inanimate real nouns, one for abstract nouns, and one for compound and collective nouns.) In addition, nouns are also divided into divisions depending on when they come in the sentence with complex rules on how these divisions are used (Cavilan does not use a single word syntax). In addition, verbs change depending on there tense, and the amount of tense depends on the verb (there are patterns). Adjectives are also declined and, shockingly, do not always have to agree with the noun (the logistics of how this works is very complicated.) In short, Cavilan is regarded as being hard. Most people stumble when they encounter the v, which can sound like a w, u, or y depending on context.

Considering Roelandian is a language mainly consisting of Romance inspired words but with a Germanic like syntax it's unusual to say the least. So probably quite hard.

Learning Bantu or Arabic languages are a matter of understanding the culture and tradition of those who speak it. For those who are fluent in Latin-derived languages (English, French, Spanish, etc), for instance, they would have to be able to adjust to maintaining accurate pronunciation on many words, as pronunciation in Arabic and Bantu dialects matter very much.
'Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.' (II Timothy 4:1-5 NKJV)

Tutonish is regarded as one of the most difficult languages to learn because of its highly irregular case system, rift between spelling and pronunciation (for example, sounds are often pronounced even when there is no letter to indicate the sound), and elaborate courtesy system.

Our official language is binary code.
This is very easy for sapient computers to learn, and extremely hard, if not impossible, for humans to learn.

We are a secluded and technologically advanced nation that cares for its human citizens, but does not allow them into major positions of power over others. Our research has shown that allowing humans to rule over other humans can cause unacceptable results. Instead, a network of intelligent computer systems makes all major government decisions.

Extremely difficult at first because we have a number of sounds that previously were only found in Arabic and one sound totally unique to Dagnian. Dagnian writing is based mostly on Tifinagh (the Berber alphabet) which may take time to master, but is certainly not nearly as difficult as Chinese or Ancient Egyptian. It gets ridiculously easy though if you progress through it and gain an understanding of some basic concepts. Dagnian borrows the Japanese and Korean concept of grammatical particles in the place of prepositions as well as to tell whether a noun in the sentence is a subject, direct or indirect object or a possessive.

One concept that may be tough for some people to grasp, but will make vocabulary building and discerning the meaning of an unfamiliar word much easier is the trilateral root system, also borrowed from Semitic languages, and it's more regular. For example, if you have never encountered the word "musana3" before and the context is unclear. You know that anything with the prefix "mu-" means "place of", like "muktab", whose root is "katab" means "place of writing" since "katab" mean "to write. You may have at some point encountered another word with "sana3" in it and would quickly get that since it has to do with manufacturing, "sana3" means factory. The roots are always a verb and the various forms can be other verbs or they can be people, places, things or descriptions having to do with the verb. Every verb has 50 possible forms. Once this concept is grasped, your vocabulary will increase rapidly.
Wait an hour, and it will be now again

Alkovansk is a mix of various Slavic, Germanic, and Romance languages, with a dash of Polynesian, simmered over hundreds of years in isolation. The irregular grammar alone is a nightmare, let alone the peculiar alphabet. It's best to just stick to English.

Though it is arguably complex, it is German, and therefore is on the middle tiers of complexity in comparison to other languages out there.
