Nationstates' (Non-Japanese) High School (OOC, OPEN AGAIN)

WE ARE OPEN ONCE AGAIN!!!

So I've seen the ongoing roleplay, NationStates High School, and since their characters are limited to Japanese names (as they are of a Japanese environment), I figured, why not create a roleplay open to all races?

The high school curriculum here is 4 years; from a minimum age of 12 (one must turn 13 that year) to a maximum age of 18 (retaining only happens twice). Ideally, a student should finish his high school by the age of 16.

The structure is 4 grades, 5 Sections; the higher the Section number, the higher your intelligence level. The popular students fall under mostly section 3, with some in section 4; the outcast minority are mostly from section 5, with the exception of my character Arthur Richardson who came from section 3 in 2015.

-Suggest law changes. (But only the main OP has the final say.)

7) No Over-Powered characters too. (Which means you can't add a Mr/Miss Perfect into our RP. Everyone has flaws, and plot armour is highly discouraged. We want to make this RP as realistic as possible)

So here's the setting of our Westernized highschool:

The year is 2016, and daily life in NationStates International Highschool (NIS) may look to be carefree to an outsider's eyes.
But when you enter the school and spend a few months there, you'll find intrigue, drama, fighting-- no different from any political entity fighting for the last ounce of power an influence. Despite school authority emphasising on school unity and harmony, behind the eyes of the Teacher, lie the ruthless environment of social life.

Everyone is divided into groups, cliques if you may-- some are created purely for the sake of influence and popularity, some just form because they do, and somehow get a decent amount of fame. But there is always oppression in a competitive society. The smart are deemed as the losers, the nerds, bookworms. Of course, with the ostracised are the introverts and a few assholes with no charisma.

Think of this high school as a hierarchy. The jocks and the social butterflies are at the top, and form less than 1% of the school population. And yet they dictate to their subordinates below, they tell you the right way to act, to dress, to talk, etc. The plebeian variant of this society are the normal students who have enough charisma to get by and make decent friendships, but not enough to be deemed as popular. They, unlike the patrician few, are extremely diversified in interest, varying from arts to video games to music. And then we have the slaves- the bottom of the hierarchy. Spit on, shamed. These people are the outsiders, those who refuse to conform to society's beliefs. However, despite such rebellious belief they do not have enough charisma to get the normal students to convince them of the greed of the popular kids, and are instead put in their place by the popular kids and the normal kids follow suit as well, usually to gain favour with them.

Enter Arthur Richardson. He has experienced firsthand the ruthlessness of the hierarchy, and has attempted to form a clique of his own to rise up against such bullying- and failed horribly, only to be shamed even more. His friends began leaving him, leaving him by his devices. This year, in a new class and a re-organised cohort system, the solid system of power has broken down once again, with some losing their influence, some maintaining it, and some gaining it. Thank goodness that his class this year consisted of fresh faces; in fact, people who never knew of such power at all. At the same time, the most popular kid in class, (name open for registration) is also with him in this class, but to save face, they have decided to "normalise" with him. To (name of most popular kid), this was simply another manipulation tactic; to Arthur, this was the opportunity for revenge, and for the power he deserves.



As to you, will you be a popular student, maintaining the establishment of greed that has kept you in power, or will you herald a new and more tolerant society?
Or will you be just another normal student, grasping any remaining power that is left by the 1%?
Or will you rise up against the very fabric of the school's society, and risk total shame?

Currently wants the system destroyed due to his previous life as a social outcast, and now that his time of silence has ended, takes whatever measures it takes to fulfill his thirst for revenge, be it working with the system or using some of his unconventional methods.

A brief description of the character's personality: Caoilynn was always a bit of a mystery. Not popular, but not shunned, she represents a precarious balance that only a select few students can maintain. Her middle position in the hierarchy of the high school is chiefly because she is intelligent, and has decent enough looks. Despite her moderate position in the hierarchy, she frequently plots on how to tear the pyramid scheme down in her spare time. She awaits a time when a string comes undone for her to unravel the threads of the high school society. Currently, she pretends to be friendly towards the popular kids, but only to avoid detection. When she hangs around the popular girls, she notes any and all dirt she can find on them, and then documents it later. She does the same with other popular kids, when given the opportunity. With this information, she systematically plots to take down key targets, but only after she finishes her homework.

A brief description of the character's personality: Jane is goofy and fun loving, and an avid lover of music and literature. She is very intelligent, but is completely apathetic towards any kind of work that doesn't interest her. She had for much of her life been noted as one of the smartest in her class, but utterly unwilling to apply herself. She does however have one love that she cares about, cooking. She dreams of becoming a professional chef once out of school, and does everything in her power to pursue that goal, math classes be damned! She was born and raised in Louisiana, and still retains a strong sense of her southern heritage.

An ex-social outcast, now turned-sarcastic guy, who is light-hearted and kind to everyone and is generally relaxed, but has a dangerous side of revenge and deep hatred to those who dare to cross him, as he is secretly a skilled manipulator, and with his ability to hide anger well, may systemically take you down if you take him for granted, and you wouldn't even see it coming.

And on the same note, my character will technically try and uphold the social order as it is now, mainly due to the fact that he doesn't want to make himself a target. Unless he's convinced otherwise, he'll be an antagonist of sorts.

I'm thinking of adding in a nosy teacher as well. I may consider bringing over one of my characters from another RP as well, albeit with some edits made.
Of course, I can always drag in an extra app or two for the time being, should they be necessary.

The main side-effect of using more than 2-3 characters for me would be that I may be slower to respond to IC posts. But that would mostly be because of me having to balance separate. It shouldn't be too difficult. Also, since I'm also in the Japanese High School thread, I'll mention this: So far, the people who joined are a bit confused over the details. This RP has a more concrete setting, which may attract other people.
