Public Transport in YN

Postby Vescus (Ancient) » Thu Nov 03, 2016 12:59 pm

Public Transport is heavily used in Vescus, and is incredibly efficient! If the timetable says it arrives at 08:33am, then it will arrive exactly at 08:33am. If the bus/train/plane/monorail/whatever is early, people get very upset. However, a 1 minute delay will result in anger, as lateness is harshly punished in schools and workplaces! Popular modes of transport include plane, monorail, train, maglev, tram etc.

Our capital, Clarott, has an underground monorail.
Our 2nd largest city, Spades, has a Tram service.
Our 3rd largest city, Laclan, has an underground maglev
Welcome to Vescus, a capitalist nation famed for its incredibly tolerant and chilled out citizens, work ethic, efficiency that means public transport is always on time to the second, mining of asbestos, diversity, and openness towards refugees. The current year is 2037.

These below are indeed my political views
Pro: Anarchic-Capitalism, Using torture on prisoners, Gary Johnson, EU, Scottish Independence, Privatisation, Thatcher, Libertarianism, Cannabis legalisation, Immigration, LGBTQ+, Switzerland, Australia, Germany, The Netherlands, Singapore.

Netoraria heavily invests into its public tranist networks. Citizens can expect clean, reliable, and fast means of transport in and between most major cities. Triangle Garden has the Triangle Garden Metro, a large underground rapid transit train network that allows the city to function. It stays entirely underground, even when going out to Beloved Goddess International on the city's northwest extremity. The rest of the nation has high speed rail networks linking all of the major cities together, and within those cities there are either bus or light rails streetcars that facilitate movement.

Malaguenia has a extensive public transport system such as a well-though out bus system, high-speed trains, metros, trams are widely used. they are regarded as being very efficient and very clean also they are very strict since anyone that is nuisance on public transport are required to get off or the staff and passengers will force them out.

Our capital, Leonoria, has a good transport system with an extensive bus system, a tram, an underground monorail as well as a suburban train network.
The other three metropolises we have (Sankt Georgen, Leniná Hora, Sophienstadt) have smaller metro networks and reasonable bus systems, but nothing compared to Leonoria.
In the rest of the country (apart from the tourist hotspots of Seeland) the transport is a catastrophe. But we are working at it.

In Gandoor, we have an extremely well-funded public transport system that predominantly consists of buses and high-speed railways. Due to it's extensiveness and affordability, it's often recommended to use it over other methods of transport in our nation.

The Board of Trade

Public transport in Great Nortend is a curious mix of privately owned and publically managed services, with the main form of public transport being the railways.

With over 50% of the population living in rural areas, Nortend has a very extensive railway network, even in the countryside, with over seven thousand public railway stations serving over fourteen thousand villages, hamlets, towns and districts on a total of 25,325 miles of track. The railway network is controlled and managed by the Board of Rail, who also own all of the land, track and infrastructure, although the operation of services falls to individual railway companies. The public opinion of the railway is very good, and over 95% of services are on time.

The transit is a system of Hyperloop/maglev hybrid networks spanning all of Gaerson and some of Lustan. Your basic taxi and bus are autos powered by a BusNet network that is part of the bigger ControlNet network. Public transport is free in Devernia.

A downside is that the trains aren't that efficient; they're usually minutes early or late.

Depends on member-state

While it remains true that public transport does in fact vary depending on the specific state, overall descriptions can still be applied to this topic. 97 out of 98 member-states possess a public transport system, with varying levels of development and functionality. Railway is present in nearly every state, connecting major cities, while buses are a common mode of transport from railway-connected cities into lesser rural towns and remoter areas. Underground, metropolitan rail transport can be expected from at least the capital cities of most member-states, while in some they are present for every multi-million-population city. Metropolitan bus transport is far more common, however. High speed rail and maglev rail are emerging to update the rail networks of many member-states, while mainland Chevorzeb states have already fully upgraded their rail infrastructure.

The best public transport in Valgora is in the capital city Datlof because it is also the largest, most populous city.

In all cities:
Public buses (runs on biodiesel)
A metro

Between cities:
Maglev trains

All public transportation in Valgora is highly advanced. There is rarely a delay and it is extremely efficient.

Nerdreich province has the best-funded public transportation. It is high-tech, efficient, well maintained, and comfortable. It will quickly take you just about anywhere in town, and you can also go all the way across the nation using the Nerdreich public transportation networks. We have buses, trains (including bullet trains), subways, etc.

Prepkoku province has the same standard of public transportation, but only within cities, not between.

Emokoku province attempts to provide public transportation both within and between cities, but it is older and has less funding.

Jockoku province has only a minimal public transportation system in its capital of Stadioton. However, they do have a more expansive network of bicycle and jogging trails.

Redneckoku province has no public transportation.

In cities
The big cities (Qersi, Kotis, Arotes etc.) all have metro (subway) systems. Qersi's Underground Railways are managed and run by 7 independent companies which coordinate with each other (to an extent) via the Underground Rail Companies Association. The system is mostly very efficient, with 97% of arrivals and departures being on-time. The other big cities all have government-managed systems, and are slightly less efficient, but newer by far. (Qersi's system opened in 1871, the next in Merni, Kotis, opened in 1937)

Buses do exist, but are generally regarded as a cheap (and slow) way of travel in the big cities. The buses in smaller cities without metro systems are much used. An old tram system (started in 1900) remains in Qersi, but mainly as a tourist attraction.

Mainline railway companies almost always have a suburban service within the cities they serve, distinguished from the long-distance services, but running on the same lines. (Think National Rail within London.) Qersi famously has 32 companies operating services.

Outside cities

Buses are nonexistent in the countryside.

The railway is by far the most prevalent mode of travel in the country, with 6811 stations on 26,000 km of railway operated by 49 companies. Trains are mostly pulled by steam locomotives with electric boilers, this being unique to the country.

Air travel is only between the biggest cities.

Taxi Services

While most taxis operate like Grab, there are still some conventional taxis. Taxis are more common in cities than in rural areas. Many taxis are driverless, but can be manned by a "driver" (in fact, a backup officer in case things go haywire)

Buses

Bus services exist and function traditionally. Many buses are driverless, but can be manned by a "driver" (in fact, a backup officer in case things go haywire)

Trains

The Gamindustrian train system is known for its extreme efficiency, moreso than Japan's. Of the national train systems, either Lastation's train systems are the most efficient. Many trains are driverless, but can be manned by a "driver" (in fact, a backup officer in case things go haywire)

There are many kinds of trains in service in Gamindustri:

-Inter-Union trains, which connect from nation to nation. While many are bullet trains, slower trains exist for people who cannot afford the bullet trains.
-Nationwide trains, which connect from city to city within a nation. Bullet trains are used here, but the bullet train to normal train ratio, when compared to Inter-Union trains, is generally slightly to moderately lower.
-Metro trains, which service city-wide services. They may come in many forms: subways, above-ground lines or trams.

Domestic Flights

There are domestic airlines that service travel throughout Gamindustri. While flights on one dimension function as normal, interdimensional flights function differently. In order for a plane to travel to another dimension, it must land in a designated dimensional strip, taxi through a dimensional portal, then take-off again.

Miscellaneous

Travel times are on-time. If the timetable says a vehicle arrives at 12:54, it will arrive exactly at 12:54.

Our buses are usually painted purple with the word "Bus" on the side to avoid confusion. If they operate on any schedule at all it is not discernible. Routes are also variable but they all go to the beach eventually. By the way, "eventually" in Fatatatutti means you'll probably live to see it.

Taxis, on the other hand, are often unmarked because many people use their private vehicles as taxis to make extra money. They typically charge 10 USD per trip because they're too frugal (cheap) to have meters. That may seem like a bargain but you have to understand that taxi drivers will pick up as many passengers as they can fit into their cars so you may not be the first to be delivered to your destination.

Carena has a complex system of rapid transportation in the form of hyperloops that connects the entire country. Though more primitive hyperloops were originally built in the early 21st century, modern hyperloops are extremely fast and have made civilian airplanes obsolete. Teleportation, an experimental form of transportation is currently being developed and when unveiled to the public, will allow people to travel at any destination they wish at the speed of light.

Excellent. Elevated trains similar to those in Chicago are extremely popular in our larger cities.

We also have a national rail service.

Public Transit in Vista Major

Postby Vista Major » Mon Nov 07, 2016 6:39 pm

Vista Major's public transportation is funded and facilitated by Vista Major Transportation (VMT), a department and public corporation of the Ministry of Transportation. VMT operates high-speed rail, buses, elevated and light rail, and highways, among other modes of transportation. There are no fares for those who use VMT. VMT (and national infrastructure in general) is also funded secondarily by a Vehicle-Kilometers-Driven tax (currently 10 cents). The vast majority of Vistonians (70%+) use public transportation regularly.

Private transportation services (such as taxis and private buses) are heavily regulated, and tend to be present only in remote regions of the Commonwealth (though mass transit is still present). Until the 1990s, cars were banned or restricted throughout the Commonwealth (for environmental reasons).

Public transport is ubiquitous regardless of region in China-UFR. Nearly every city with over 2 million population has a well-run, dedicated rapid transit system, with outskirts connected by bus lines. When inquired on their most often used transportation methods in 2011, about 64% of the surveyed answered public transport, either by bus or by rail. Generally, services are in good condition, especially areas where the network is subsidized by private entities. Inter-city and inter-state railways, mostly high-speed rail, have greatly improved the connectedness of the nation, and can take billions of trips every year.

The funding and operation of public transport varies by region, in many places fares are subsidized by private entities and they usually also provide the budget to purchase assets and vehicles for the transport network, often providing the trains and buses themselves completely internalizing entire transport networks of cities and areas. The state still operates a sizeable portion of the nation's transport network however.
This nation is a Chinese caricature of caricatures of China.
