Star Wars: Lost Squadron (OOC, Sign Up)

With the Clone Wars finished, so did the time of the Republic, replaced by an Empire ruled by the Sith. Crushing those that stood in their way, the first to feel their power was the Jedi Order, slaughtering many with Order 66. From all around the galaxy and the Jedi Temple, most were cut down by their own soldiers formerly under their command, with a very small amount surviving and blending into the shadows. That was more than two decades ago. A natural occurrence, a Rebellion Alliance had established itself, up until two years ago had not many noticeable victories. Then, the Battle of Yavin IV occurred, marking the first obvious win for them, albeit a small one.

Twenty-four months have passed since the Rebel Alliance’s evacuation of Yavin 4. Ever since then, the whole Rebellion has been on the run. Even though they’ve destroyed their superweapon, it seems that Skywalker’s and their efforts weren’t enough to deter the Empire. They continue to pursue them, forcing the rebels to keep on fighting. Sent to various sectors in the galaxy,  White Sun Squadron has been tasked with finding a new operational base to replace the one they lost on Yavin. In fact, a part of their squadron already found a third and fourth possible candidate, and are on their way to confirm if it’s viable or not. Leading them was Captain Nydo Zoler, one of the older members in the unit. Among the most experienced of them, Zoler was the primary choice for the initial exploration of area. Now, they’re just waiting for the go for either reinforcements or more hands for setting up a base. A hologram message from him:

“This is Captain Zoler, initial scans of the recon droid that we sent seem to be promising. The only thing that it’s encountered so far are nothing but indigenous lifeform, no sign of intelligent life though. The best thing, no signs of Imperial activities, but that hasn’t stopped them discovering us before. Negatives aside, we’re going to land for ourselves and see what we’ve got. I’ll update everyone as soon as we can.”

They received the message about a week ago, while unusual, although its not unheard of teams remaining quiet until they're ready to call us. No reason to worry about them. On the other hand, our part of the squadron is being sent to the other location first. So far, we can only expect good news, however we are prepared to fight if necessary.

Playing as a member of White Sun Squadron of the Rebel Alliance, a comparatively small mixed unit, a combination of a reconnaissance and combat group. Your original mission is to find a suitable planet or moon that can be used as the new base after the Evacuation of Yavin IV. However, things might not be as it seems. With two missions for the squadron currently ongoing one can only hope that everything goes well........

Hello, this is once again your local resident phantom, Rynagria. This time coming with an RP topic that isn’t really new, which is Star Wars. Time is setting between the Episode IV and Episode V of the Star Wars movie franchise. You play as a rebel (sorry, no Imperials) or at least someone that has sided with them, they don’t have to necessarily be a Rebel. Other than that, you have a mission! Get ready and prepared to fight!

Rules
1. My word is law and therefore must be obeyed once I have finalized it. The same goes for any Co-OP I might have, unless I say so otherwise. Try not to argue with us, I will however happily discuss things with you.
2. No controlling other characters but your own, no using of OOC information to give benefits to any character, and your character can get hurt and die. No such thing as an invincible person in my RP.
3. All characters must be original, no playing characters from the canon or legends universe. So, no Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, etc. Similar characters are acceptable.
4. I find acceptable for your character to act like an asshole, but doesn’t mean you can be. In other words, no being an asshole in the OOC.
5. Calm and controlled discussion is fine on the OOC, but an argument is not. If you have one, TG or use another form of messaging.
6. One/Two-Liners are unacceptable, as such, all post must be at least compose of three sentences. Preferably though, a post should be five sentences at least, but I’ll let three to four liners slide. Usually though, if they’re that short, you can always add more details.
7. Communication between players is important, if you want to drop out or disappear (forever or for a certain amount of time), tell us. To lessen the chance of getting stuck in a particular scene.
8. I work on a three strike system, if in any circumstance that you break the above rules, you will get a strike. Once or if you get to three strikes, I’ll ask you to leave. However, one can erase them with good behavior.
9. Any rules that come after this holds the same weight as the previous rules. Follow them like all of them and all should be fine.
10. Have fun, simple as that.

Example Applications
Name: Skye Mefrid
Appearance:
Image
Nickname: "Meteorite"
Gender: Female
Homeworld: Kuat
Species: Human
Force Sensitive: Enough to augment situational awareness and reaction time.
Age: 26 years old
Personality: Compared to other former Imperials, which often kept some aspect of Imperial Training and indoctrination within their personality, Skye has done a complete 180 degrees. For the most part, had you met her not knowing the background, you could have easily mistaken her for nothing more than a spacer you would find sitting in some backwater bar. Friendly to all, she treats them all very casually, even laughing off insults shout they be given to her. Because of developing a highly independent attitude, Skye has had a tendency to disobey direct orders, should she feel that it is not the right thing to do.
History: Born in Kuat during 24 BBY, Skye was born into the long family of fighter pilots or at the very least Kuat Systems Engineering employee. However, unlike before any of those, were primarily male. Among the first to break the tradition was her grandmother and mother, the former being a pilot of a Delta-7B Aethersprite-class Light Interceptor fighting in the Clone Wars, while her mother became an employee of KSE. Those being her primary role models, they are the only ones that she really cared about, with her father not even bothering to pay attention to her, having wanted a son instead of a daughter.

At the age of ten years old, her grandmother close to passing away, officially "handed" down the Delta-7B interceptor to her. All due to her "feeling" that she would become a great pilot someday. And with a natural skill with it, had mastered it completely in less than a year. Father finally taking notice of the potential prodigal status that his daughter has, would send her to the Imperial Academy shortly after, despite the protests of Skye's mother. Somewhat glad, Skye would gladly accept the decision, excelling through the class, especially at defensive flying. Finally, by the age of seventeen, graduated from the academy with the rank of a Wing Commander in charge of a fighter-bomber Starfighter wing. Piloting a TIE Bomber, put into service near immediately, leading three missions in a row from the front, bombing "rebel" and "dissident" strongholds. By the time of 1 BBY at the age of 23 years old, she would have successfully accomplished nearly eighty missions. On the verge of being promoted to being a Group Captain, she thought that her parents would be proud of her. Eager to what she considers would be her endgame being a pilot, she was tasked with destroying a village suspected to be full of rebel fighters.

Coming in with a Ton-Falk class Escort Carrier, Skye lead the seventy-two Starfighters and bombers on to the planet, heading directly towards her target. Knowing that there would be a fight, her bomber was fitted with faster firing weapons, to enable her to take down opponents quicker. Flying roughly 10,000 meters above the planet's surface, her wing was countered by several Rebel Squadrons of their own, piloting Y-Wings and Clone War era Starfighters that they had managed to acquire. Most engaged in dogfights, Skye's Wing took more casualties than her opponents, as the shielded Rebel Y-Wings had better defense and stronger hitting weapons, despite them being less maneuverable. In addition, hidden AA cannons had made it more difficult in engaging the stronghold.

The fighting had lasted nearly two hours, victors being the Rebels. In the air with a damaged aircraft, managing to lose any pursuers, landed in a clearing to fix her bomber to the best of her capabilities. Meanwhile with her Second-in-Command was dead, having exploded into a fiery explosion due to a missile hitting him, left the remaining wing without command. All 29 surviving TIEs retreated and left the planet. Frustrated at the loss, Skye refused to give up, feeling that she was so close to her goals and her coward comrades getting in her way. Determined to accomplish the mission, took the air once again, flying only above the treetops as fast her TIE Bomber could. Only one shot at her attack run, Skye decided that at the very least she'll damage the base. Within range, the young Imperial Pilot fired her bombs and was struck with an ion cannon from a Y-Wing still in the air. Crash landing, the young Imperial Pilot swiftly exited her downed bomber only to be met by cloaked man, a lightsaber in hand. Firing at the man, he only deflected them and ending the confrontation by reflecting her own bolt back into her left shoulder. Pain too much, Skye passed out.

Upon waking up, she found herself in a bacta tank, watched by some medical personnel and who she can only presume to be an officer of the stronghold. Fearing for her life, she could only wait in horror, thinking of all the things they could and will do to her after reviving her.

Nickname: "Saber"
Gender: Male
Homeworld: Corusant
Species: Human
Force Sensitive: Capable of using the force to augment his abilities and senses, like all of most Jedi are able to. In addition, can use it to grab objects from a distance to throw or pull them closer.
Age: 46 years old
Personality: Mostly a quiet man, he prefers to be in solitude when not having to prepare for or during a mission. It allows him to ponder about what has happened over the years, thinking of what he could have done differently or if he could have done anything at all in that event. Although as an alternative, drinks in his free-time in an attempt to drown away his hidden sorrows or to forget about them. When he does talk, it's either to publicly reflect to those everyone around him, give an insight, or give orders to his subordinates.
History: Born in 25 BBY, in the lower levels of Corusant, he was quickly found to be sensitive to the force, showing his affinity of it at the age five years old. Named Gun Shol by his parents, the Jedi Order took him in to be trained in the ways of the force. In the first three years, Gun had excelled at an average rate, learning the basics of the first lightsaber form, Shii-Cho. By the age nine, he was ready to move on, being selected to be the Padawan of Shandala Ores shortly after. With their initial time together, Gun trained with his master in peace learning the ways of Niman. Despite his Master's teaching, the young Jedi Padawan used the style with aggression when utilizing it against opponents that they came across, used as a way to release great energy from the young boy. Everything had stayed the same, until the Trade Federation invaded Naboo three years later, Master Ores and Gun showing great interest in the matter. The possibility of conflict growing, Gun continued to use Niman in an aggressive manner, as to be better prepared for fights in the future.

By the age of twenty, he would master Niman, having grown out of his energetic stage and becoming a young man. However he remained Padawan, being deemed unprepared by his master as he still has much to learn in the ways of the force. There, he would train Jar'Kai and other forms to better help himself get better in Niman as a combat specialist. On the meantime, not much changed, still going to the missions that required the use of diplomacy. This would continue on until the First Battle of Geonosis two years later, the Clone Wars beginning shortly after. Unable to participate in the Strike Team that was brought together by the Jedi Master Mace Windu, his master and he was sent to a different mission, dealing with several bounty hunters lead by a disillusioned Jedi after a Republic Senator. Here, the duo would be tested in their abilities to the max, in a way preparing them for what they would eventually do in the ever rising conflict.

Pressed into service, like many others, the twenty-two year old Jedi Padawan were brought to the frontline. Given the rank of Commander, he lead his troops to the best of his ability, all the while staying close to his master. Gun would rack a large amount of droids under his belt, his skills often being utilized to fullest. Among his most memorable battles occurred in Mygeeto during the later years of the war, leading his first and only offensive action against the Separatists. Sustaining many casualties and Master Ores severely injured, the twenty-four year old Jedi lead a force of sixty clone troopers in an all-out assault. At the forefront, he easily sliced through hundreds of B1 and B2 battle droids, carving a path through the enemy, clone troopers taking care of any stragglers left behind. By the end, it allowed for them to evacuate the wounded with gunships.

Shortly before Order 66 was given, Gun had reached the age of twenty-five, Master Ores intending to declare that he is ready to be knighted. Yet, a final mission blocked the path, a Jedi having gone rogue in the planet of Tatooine to which they needed to apprehend. While he was suppose to go alone, Master Ores accompanied him, at the very least until they reach the Desert Planet. Unknown to them, while in the middle of the trip, Order 66 had been given. Casually walking into their sleeping quarters

Hanging in out mostly in bars, Zoler having gotten used to the

Possible tag for a pilot.

Always interested in a Star Wars RP. I Co-OP'd Fall of Coruscant a few months back. I'll start to put together a rough application, probably by tonight.

So I'm thinking a B-Wing would be cool, but I'm worried it might be just a little too powerful to start with. Would you allow a B-Wing or would you prefer I choose something a little less punchy to start?

It's not so much that I mind it being powerful, but rather we're not going to have a very large carrier and I'm more worried about the space it would take up in a hangar.

Followup: V-Wings were used by independent factions during the Rebellion era, would one of those be better?

If not, that's totally cool and I'll rock a Y-Wing.

That's fine, just understand that you won't be able to do escorting through hyperspace (not really a big aspect) :p.

Name: Ileta Keress
Appearance: Image
Nickname: WIP
Homeworld: Anaxes
Species: Human
Force Sensitive: Not.
Age: 29
Personality: Rigid, disciplined, efficient, effective. Self-serving, competitive, arrogant. Often lacks creativity, with difficulty forming emotional connections.
History: Ileta Keress was born on Anaxes-which meant that, by default, her future would be a naval one, in some way or another. Still in her first years as the Clone Wars raged, with both parents in the military, her father lost to the conflict, she adapted to a self-reliant lifestyle rather quickly.

As the Empire came to power. her mother, ever a shrewd woman, tied herself to the new regime immediately, avoiding the purging of other Generationals, and securing her daughter a spot at the Academy. At the age of thirteen, she was sent away, determined to do her family proud.

She did. Years at the academy showed her an effective and devoted worker. intelligent and loyal. The Imperial way was harsh, but she withstood it, and with aggressive ambition drove her way to the top of her class, catching the eyes of some-including one fellow cadet.

His name was Derek Malloy, and, for a while, they had love. It was outside of regulations, of course, but for once, Ileta was willing to cast those aside. The secret romance lasted for two blissful years before he worked up the courage to divulge his secrets to the one woman he knew he could trust, or at least thought he could. Derek was considering defecting. He had gotten information from the outside about apparent horrors of the Empire, a slaughter on his homeworld-and of the stirring tide of rebellion. He confided in her, begged her to come with him. Stunned, she told him to give her a day, and meet her again.

When he came to that meeting, her found her-flanked by a quartet of Stormtroopers. He didn't even curse or rage as they dragged him away-just stared at her. That was worse.

She agonized over the decision-but only for a little while. He was trying to join the rebellion, after all. They were terrorists, anarchists. She had done the right thing, she convinced herself, and recomitted to the art of war.

Most graduates of the Academy looked for assignment to the big ships-Ileta, skilled as she was at rapid, tactical thought, situational awareness, and rapid command, moved her way into the starfighter corps. In the following years, heading her own squadron, she found repeated success against Rebel starfighters, earning her command of increasingly impressive forces, transferring to the more capable TIE Interceptor.

Years of loyal service enabled her to rise meterorically, and in 0 BBY, she recieved a promotion to Captain of the Line, and was assigned as an Admiral's adjunct to the DS-1 Orbital Battle Station, where she was given broad command over the hemispheric fighter defenses.

When the Rebel attack came, she was one of the few, along with General Bast, to realize the goal of the rebel attack-and when she was unable to scramble more than a handful of fighters to defend the station, she realized that the Empire always needed a scapegoat-and that there would be no escape from this dishonor. Taking her interceptor out, she escaped the destruction of the Death Star-and headed to the only place she could without a hyperdrive, the Rebel base at Yavin IV.

The defection was taken with an expected amount of suspicion, of course. Defector or no, even after such a victory, the Rebellion was not planning on letting an Imperial in with no questions asked. The debriefing process was grueling, but Ileta kept her composure-and offered them, along with her fake story, the wealth of her Imperial knowledge. When the evacuation came, and she helped facilitate the escape of many of the Rebel craft, they trusted her enough to let her in-though dropped down to Lieutenant. Much of the Rebellion was made up of defected Imperials after all-especially after the destruction of Alderaan.

Over the next two years, she served dutifully, if not enthusiastically. She knew nothing but death awaited her with the Empire, and so sought to make the best of the opportunity she had been given. She was promoted to Captain, second-in-command of White Sun squadron, junior to Zoler, not yet fully trusted to lead her own, but serving as XO, a role she excelled in in every aspect but popularity. A rigid disciplinarian, and excellent pilot, she was effective, efficient, and entirely unloved. Her Imperial background was not public knowledge-but scuttlebutt ended that, and she received no shortage of lip about it-though rarely to her face, save by the most bold. Her craft was the R-22 Spearhead, the closest approximation to TIE's she was so effective in.

Great looking app! Nicely done. A thing of note, your character will not have a droid companion? Since it's not limited to astromech droids, they can be something like C3-PO. You won't be able to bring them, sure, but it's a tiny bit more interaction with your character if needed.

I had not actually considered a droid companion, and the R-22 does not have an astromech slot, but I could see a different type. Perhaps I will give her a modified Mouse Droid.

Should be no problem with that.

Also, I forgot this, but Zoler is the XO for only the combat ready elements in the squadron. Which means Starfighter pilots, Shuttle pilots, and ground troops. His role would be more of akin to that of an army captain in real life.

Taggity from over here. It's gonna take me a little while to get a character up, but it should be done by Thursday,
Disclaimer: Nothing said here is the product of a rational mind.
So...apparently I'm a decent writer. Um...wait, what?
Relativity, nukes in space, nukes in atmosphere, LASERs, MASERs, kinetic weapons, missile and kinetic CIWS, impactors and centripital force.

And, of course, for anything at all, you can always go here.

Name: Vell Tarlowe
Appearance: His face.
Nickname: "Titan"
Homeworld: Corellia
Species: Half-Human (Corellian) Half-Epicanthix
Force Sensitive: He is not, though he has a genetic ability to withstand force based mind tricks.
Age: 31
Personality: He's in it for the money. That said, there's no reason he can't enjoy himself, he's a nice enough fella for a mercenary, one would suppose, and for better or worse he believes in the Rebellion. If you ask him though, he figures both are more or less the same, pertaining to him. Both will jail him for what he does once this is over, and both are interested in hiring "outside help" while the fighting is ongoing, so he might as well make some money and get in good with the side he sees winning, shit, they might even give him a one-day head start when this is over.

When he's alone, he's a different sorta guy, withdrawn and quiet, spending time alone in a hammock he strings up under his ship reading. In combat, it's a different story from both. Regardless of piloting what amounts to a strike fighter, Tarlowe is quick to respond when another one of his squadron mates calls out for help, despite his standoffish and/or party-er attitude, he considers the people flying with him to be his brothers and sisters. At least until the contract is over.

History: Tarlowe comes from a large family of pirates, long haul traders, nomads, and mercenaries. His parents worked to maintain a large amount of the anonymous ships that paid using hard to trace currency for repairs on parts that weren't legal in the strictest sense of the word. He worked with them from the time he was old enough to hold a hydrospanner, and consequently knows his way around a starship. So much so that he refuses to let rebel techs near his Q-8, trusting all repairs to himself and his astromech R3-DD (Double D). Life would be alright on Corellia, until his twentieth birthday when good ole' mom and dad decided it was time for the boy to make a name for himself. They gave him some credits, pointed him towards a market, and told him to come back when he made a name for himself.

Well, he set out to. Signing up with a pirate uncle of his, Tarlowe picked up an aging Q-8 and began to modify it himself, changing it from a middling at best snub-fighter to a formidable munitions carrier. He and the rest of the crew would raid around for a while, hitting Imperial and Hutt transports with near impunity on what was assumed to be safe space lanes. This is also where Tarlowe would pick up his callsign and Double D. What the crew thought was a simple trader was actually a Q Ship, armed to the teeth and ready to tango. What it didn't know was that Tarlowe was too, armed with high yield torpedo's and B-Wing cannons, the Q-Ship didn't last long at all once it showed it's teeth. So both the little Q-8 and Tarlowe earned their names, "Titan". Onboard, most of the crew was dead, the assault Tarlowe had laid out decompressed the whole ship, life support was gone and the crew was all dead. Inside though, Vell found a brand new, fresh off the assembly line R3. Taking it home, he quickly realized the little guy was designed for military applications, and set to work building it a station onboard the Q-8. Double D sits behind him, working on navigation, basic internal repairs, and aiding in target aquisition for missiles and torpedo's, allowing for much more a more reliable fire-and-forget strategy to be used at a much greater distance.

Like all good things, the fuzz had to fuck this one up too. A disgruntled business partner ratted out the crew, and all except Tarlowe were caught. So, Tarlowe set about the things one needs to do in a situation such as this:
1) Murder said rat horribly and slowly.
2) Steal back your way off world.
3) Run very, very fast.
He managed all three, getting his uncles ship with Titan in it's hold off world and set about randomly making jumps until he was sure he'd lost any pursuers. Tarlowe would make his way to a more popular outer-rim planet and hock his shit, hoping to start over with another crew. Who he met with was actually a Rebel agent, picking up the former pirate frigate and it's fighters for the Rebel cause. Over a conversation, he hired on Tarlowe too, and the shipment would show up just late for the battle of Yavin IV. And here he is.

Ship Model Piloted/Manned:Q-8 Toscan, modified with an internal weapons bay and wing racks.
Role: Pilot/Strike Fighter. Leads the Strike Fighter Flight.
Equipment: 2 Laser Cannons, 4 Long/8 Short munitions in the internal weapons compartment, 8 hardpoints on the wings 4 on each side.
Flight Suit. Hard Sealed.
His vibro-knife.
Revolver, always at his hip.
Blaster Rifle (Strapped to the back of his ejection seat)
R3-DD

Is a Millennium Falcon sized ship ok, or is that too big?

Well done. Just a few questions regarding it though. He's a former mercenary who joined the rebels, correct? I have no problem with that, it's just my head is having difficulties understanding the history a bit (although that can likely be attributed of me waking not long ago). Next question, why a revolver? Kinetic based projectile weapons aren't widely used anymore, it piques my curiosity. Lastly, the squadron is small, so there will be no dedicated strike fighter flight, however you can be a de facto leader on such tactics. Would that be alright with you.

Yes, a Falcon sized ship would be much too large. The biggest one I would allow are shuttles and something like the ARC-170.

I wrote the history quite drunk, so that might be a reason too. Basically, he joined a merc outfit, they got caught, he ran and tried to pawn off the gear they had used to start over, and during the sale he got recruited to the rebellion. I left how sort of open ended in case it became a plot point we wanted to play with.

OOC I think revolvers are cool, IC it's kind of a status thing. It's like a hotrod for him, it's big and loud and intimidating and he uses it like that. Plus he uses a high caliber round at what is basically CQC ranges, mostly using it during boarding actions, so you can imagine the mess it would leave.

Sure, that sits alright with me.

So an Imperial Shuttle would be fine?
