Jægerspris BBQ (Miklagård)

Postby Sjealand » Sat Oct 22, 2016 6:27 am

Across the world, the busy leaders of the many nations noticed something different, a green envelope, with the smell of pine. Inside it was a golden letter, with a red wax seal at the bottom, bearing the coat of arms of the Grand Imperator. Written in flowing cursive was the following:

Code: Select all
Greetings! Dictators, presidents, premiers and kings around the world. I His Grand Imperial Majesty Frederik VI invite you to a most fantastic event in the Grand Imperium. All of you are welcome to attend a small private dinner at Jægerspris Mansion in southern Sjealand, your travel, expenses, food, lodgings, drinks and clothes will be paid for and given by me. I do hope that you can find it in your schedule to attend this wonderful occasion.

Signed: Frederik VI Imp.Mag

Jægerspris
The road to Jægerspris followed up the fell it stood on. At the point of the gate 3 APC'swere parked. In total 20 Guards were at each gate, maintaining the security of the guests. Inside the complex several trucks were unloading crates of Tuborg, Carlsberg, Tulip and Langelænder. Frederik was himself carrying to crates of Carlsberg through the building out to the patio, where the Kings of Soumen, Götaland and Austland where all in the midst of setting up grill-equipment. Frederiks large grill was already in full swing with some steaks and pork. Frederik however continued down the patio towards the beach, where he had had an iceberg dragged and bound. Hundreds of bottles were already strewn across the iceberg. He began picking up bottles as he placed them will into the iceberg. He then promptly put on his apron and began walking back to the grill, waiting for the guests to arrive.

A fancy red car pulled up in front of the castle. It was brand new, the latest luxury car of zignister motors and something that the chancellor had spent his own money on. When he had passed the guards by the gates he found Frede at work on the grill in the patio.
He greeted him.

Hey Frede, I.ve come alone this time, Lucrezia has stayed home to look after our son, Eva is holding my seat warm, since she has become vice chancelor it's part of her duties and Thomson, my prime minister got held up by a union strike emergency.
So...when is the rest arriving? He said while he took a seat.

Johan de Witt, Stadtholder of the United Seven Provinces, arrived at Jægerspris in his cadillac, the car he was usually driven around in, wearing a casual suit with a small Hassian flag pin. After getting out of the car, Johan walked through the gates, nodding at the guards. He then strolled outside to the patio, where Frederik and Leonardo were, smelling the wonderful foods that were cooking. He proceeded to greet the two.

"Frederik, Leonardo. It's a pleasure to meet you both."

The Premier's Car drove down several streets, behind a black SUV. behind it, was a similar car with the Vice Premier and his family, and behind that was another black SUV. In the Premier's car sat Premier Petit, his personal aide Nonna, and Contrishta agent Smith Malychev, along with another Contrishta agent serving as the driver. The motorcade arrived at the mansion, and Smith, Petit, Nonna, and the Vice Premier's family all stepped out of their cars.

The Premier took a whiff of the air, smelling the food.
"Wow... Smells pretty good."
"Yeah." Nonna said. "I can't wait to get there! This place looks beautiful."

Maria, Vice Premier Adam Marx's 4 year old daughter, ran out ahead, making her way gleefully to the doors of the palace. Adam and his wife, Susan, ran after her.
"Maria! Остановите, пожалуйста! Не бегите впереди группы!" Adam said, catching up to Maria and picking her up.
"Sorry." Maria said, disappointed.
"It's okay, just settle down."

Petit and Nonna regrouped with Adam, smiling.
"She's still more mature than my sister Katyusha." Nonna said.

Soon, the motorcade would leave (presumably to find parking) and group made their way to the patio, Maria waving at the guards as they passed.
The Premier greeted Frederik, sticking out his hand for a handshake.
"It's nice to see you, Frederik. This place is pretty impressive."

Mart Linna https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... t_Laar.png
The governor of the autonomous Petrokovian republic Greater Karellia was hiding behind a bush and did his best not to be spotted by the Petrokovian guards who had just dropped off his boss premier petit.

He had been following them in his large terrain vehicle http://i.imgur.com/sqYQkHK.jpg, Karellia required sush cars because paved roads were rare.
He had come to Sjealand to plea for his case for idependence of his republic. Something that was highly unusual but he felt that it was necessary to speed up the process and get some international recognition while at it. He wondered how his boss premier petit would feel about it who had been modertly receptive to his plea for independence. Hopefully this visit will not change this.

His aides helped him over he wall of the magnificent castle. As soon as he was inside he cleared the dust from his suit, straightend his tie and walked towards the group of leaders that had already arrived including premier petit, who looked at him funny across the patio.

Excuse me my unusual entry but I feel like I had no choice. For those who do not know me, I am Mart Linna, the governor of the autonomous Petrokovian republic of Greater Karellia.

He looked over at Petit and smiled uneasy while he said

Hey mister Petit

The Premier was taken off guard for a moment.
Isn't that the leader of the Republic of Karelia? What's he doing here? he thought to himself.

Vice Premier Marx was thinking the same thing, and piped up.
"Linna? What are you doing here?" he asked, setting Maria down.
Christ, she's getting heavy...

The Premier got over the surprise of the sudden visit, and spoke.
"So, how's the petitioning been going? Get the 9/10ths?"

Governor Mart Linna pushed his glasses further up his nose as he answered.

Yes we did.

He shouted something in finno-karellian to his aides on the other side of the wall.
Suddenlly a black briefcase flew over the wall and the governor caught it in mid air.
He opened it and pulled out a file folder containing official papers.

These are the official petitions, according to these we made the mark.

He didn’t tell the premier that they had only just made it with approximatly only about 400 to 500 people over the 9/10th mark on a population of 5.6 million. But legally speaking they had made it.

Mart handed premier petit the papers and awaited his reaction.

William Ziett came flying toward the building in his WWI era Spad biplane. Despite that the plane was almost a hundred years old, it was actually in rather good shape. He named the plane "Edwina", or "Winnie" for short. Repainted, and kept up, the plane went with William where ever he went. He made a dive towards the road where he gently landed "Winnie" to a gentle stop in front of the building. He got out and went into the building "Hello everyone!" William said in a cheery tone with a thick British accent. He grabbed a bottle of gin and tonic. "I do say? Are there any olives at this establishment? I would love a few for my drink!" He took off his goggles and aviators cap and put it onto the coat rack. William Ziett had several screws loose. Despite this, he was used as one of the nation's diplomats due to his endearing personality, a trait which most Inprobusians lacked.

It was his baby they were about to touch. He relented though and tried to think of other things. "Ah yes, shall be drink then?"

"Huh. Well, this is impressive, I must say."
The Premier handed the document to Nonna.
"Make sure a copy of this is made for our records. And set up the referendum for their independence."

Nonna took the document with a blank expression, keeping it under her arm (as the signatures of millions of people would not fit inside a jacket).

Petit continued to speak with Linna.
"We'll have to set up a meeting regarding the return and exchange of State Property as well, and if we should set up trade agreements or treaties."

Yes, we should, I'll have my aides look into my schedule. In regards to the state property, I have a few thoughts about the petrokovian military bases present in Greater Karellia. I was thinking Petrokovia could retain them in exchange for the guarentee that Petrokovia will defend our sovereignty when necessary, the exact terms are to be discussed at a later time if you would be interested in this arrangement. We are also very interested in trade agreements, it's not because we are seceding that we do not intend to maintain a close relationship with Petrokovia. One of which is a transitionary measure I had in mind. We would be interested in a temporary currency union with Petrokovia to ensure the extended use of the standard credit until we are ready to launch our own currency. We are off course willing to accept economic limitations during that time as to not harm the value of the standard credit.

But perhaps we should further discuss this over a drink? If a surprise guest like me can expect one from the host at least? He asked while looking at the grand emperor.

The Premier nodded, and went over to the iceberg, where he looked for a drink.

This is over the top. the Premier thought to himself, amused that Frederik dragged an entire iceberg onto shore. He picked up a couple of bottles of Carlsburg, and made his way back.

Meanwhile, Nonna made a remark on Frederik's comment.
"Actually, most Petrokovians aren't as introverted as the Premier or me. You should see my sister Clara at a party."

The Premier returned, handing Agent Smith one of the Carlsburgs.

the Vice Premier's family wandered off to talk with some of the staff if they weren't busy, while VP Marx approached Ziett.

"Hello. It certainly is interesting meeting you-We don't generally see many people from Inprobus at any gatherings, especially non-diplomatic ones. I'm Adam Marx."
He extended his hand for a handshake.

"Also, what's so bad about being an introvert?" Leonardo reacted, adding to Nonna's remark. "I mean, I'm an introvert, doesn't mean I know how to 'party' occasionally."

He stood up, walked towards the iceberg and pulled out a Carlsberg. "I think I'm going native Frede" He said with a smile while he walked back to his seat.
When he sat down he adressed governor Linna.

"So mister Linna, why does you country want to secede from Petrokovia? I mean, you had relativly easy access to heavy industry, a capable military and soforth, all of which your country lacks. I mean, you being an autonomous republic within Petrokovia was not such a bad arrangement I believe or am I mistaken about that?"

Leonardo took a sip from his Carlsberg and awaited governor Linna's response

Petrokovia wrote:The Premier nodded, and went over to the iceberg, where he looked for a drink.

This is over the top. the Premier thought to himself, amused that Frederik dragged an entire iceberg onto shore. He picked up a couple of bottles of Carlsberg, and made his way back.

Meanwhile, Nonna made a remark on Frederik's comment.
"Actually, most Petrokovians aren't as introverted as the Premier or me. You should see my sister Clara at a party."

The Premier returned, handing Agent Smith one of the Carlsbergs.

the Vice Premier's family wandered off to talk with some of the staff if they weren't busy, while VP Marx approached Ziett.

"Hello. It certainly is interesting meeting you-We don't generally see many people from Inprobus at any gatherings, especially non-diplomatic ones. I'm Adam Marx."
He extended his hand for a handshake.

''Ive always thought of you Petrokovians as sort of gloomy over there in your industrial utopia haha, get to work and go home you know? But you Petrokovians should use your governments vacation house here in Sjealand more, the beaches close by have proved a popular tourist spot, and Freja knows youd love to see Petit out swimming Nona, hahaha!'' He nudged Nonna in the side. ''Anyways you want a burger'? A flame shot up from the grill ''Ahh what timing!'' He walked over to the grill, pushing a couple beefs off before wiping the fire out of his beard. ''Here you go folks, ecologically raised Imperial cattle steaks'' he grabbed another plate ''And a fuckton of bacon because yes.

Roelandia wrote:"Also, what's so bad about being an introvert?" Leonardo reacted, adding to Nonna's remark.

''Oh there is nothing wrong with being introverted Leo'' he lumped a plate with a massive burger into Leonardos lap. ''But if youre too introverted to have fun you should probably not go to a barbecue starring me you know? And may i commend on you choice of alcohol Leo!'' He began taking some small glasses up along with a bottle containing a pale-yellow liquid. ''So does anyone want some Snaps?''

"You don't see us at many gatherings? The Inprobusians are everywhere! He laughed, pointing at a camera on the street side. "So every drink with a new friend needs an accompanying song. A Luxury Helicopter approached the castle from the coast, escorted by two VAF-502 Military Helicopters, which, once the former had landed, split off to create a defense perimeter in order to respond quickly in case a conflict were to arise during the event. Almost immediately after the Heli landed, two armed guards stepped off, followed by the Völkir, who dismissed the guards to the edges of the helipad and proceeded to walk over to the iceberg to pick up a Carlsberg. He then headed to the patio and greeted the Petrokovian Premier and the Roelandian Chancellor, before turning to Frederick. "Good day to you, Grand Imperator," Vaščile said with a sarcastic tone. "Wait, is there an Inprobusian here? I was starting to think that they didn't exist." The Völkir sipped the Carlsberg in await of response.

You have either not undestood our history or you have never read it mister Leonardo. We have a complicated relationship with Petrokovia. We were annexed by them during Tsarist times, control over greater Karellia floated from that point on between our neighbors of which this country, Sjealand and Petrokovia for some time until after the communist revolution when we gained republic status and became a formal part of the Petrokivian socialist republic. We have aspired to regain our independence ever since but only recently, with the current administration of premier petit has the climate for this become right as previous attempts either got lost in the bureaucracy of the USSP or where outright rejected but I'd like to try and enjoy myself now if that's alright. Starting with singing this song:

Es gibt kein Bier auf Hawaii, es gibt kein Bier,
drum fahr ich nicht nach Hawaii, drum bleib ich hier.
Es ist so heiß auf Hawaii, kein kühler Fleck,..."

"Uh... I don't-"
But it was too late, the song had already caught on. So, Marx took out his phone and looked up the lyrics to the song, and joined in. One could tell from the expression on his face and from his pronunciation that he was having a bit of trouble, and didn't actually know what he was singing.

Sjealand wrote:''Ive always thought of you Petrokovians as sort of gloomy over there in your industrial utopia haha, get to work and go home you know? Nonna couldn't help but giggle a little at the thought, but quickly composed herself.
"Well, we'll just have to see if there's free time at some point." she responded. "And yes, I'll have a burger."

The Premier took a sip of the Carlsburg, then responded.
"Oh, yeah, I'll have a couple burgers, too. Uh, thanks, by the way."

Susan and Maria soon made their way over to the grill, where Maria (still in Susan's arms) grabbed a couple strips of bacon. Susan gave Maria a glance, and Maria looked to Frederik.
"Mr.? May I have some?"

The otherwise goofy appearence of Mart Linna abruptly changed into a serious decisive posture as he adressed Agent Smith's correctional remark.

Mister Smith, have you ever thought about the possibility that we had to choose between two almost equally unnatractive possibilities, that we had to choose the lesser of two evils? To be swallowed up by a neighboring monarchist empire after only just being rid of the Tsar and a membership into a new "workers empire" that previously under different rulership had uppressed us? have you ever stood still that even if we signed on without direct or active force of the USSP we were indirectly, through geopolitical circumstances forced to sign on? Have you ever considered that the previous attempts did not reach the specified criteria of secesion was due to internal dissagreement within the Greater Karellian community about a possible external threat still existing or not and that wether staying under USSP umbrella a bit longer was more favorable or not?
Have you ever wondered that at this moment our people have finally reached a consensus on this matter and that we are finaly ready to steer our own course again after centuries of making hard choices and being forced to compromise?

Linna paused for a while as he stared with a decisive stare into Agent Smith's eyes. His tone had been calm but powerfull and the mood around the table where he and chancellor Leonardo sat was suddenly ice cold.

After a while Linna loosened up a bit, straightened his suit and said in his usual goofy manner:

Sorry for that mister Smith, when it's about my country I can get touchy feely sometimes. I've dedicated my life to it you see. I did not come here to fight over the past and I'll be the last to suggest that Greater Karellia's time inside the USSP has been bad. There were some hurdles from time to time but overall I believe my ancestors made the right decision when they chose to join the USSP. But with every story there is an ending and the story of Greater Karellia's stay inside the USSP ends now. The only thing left to do is make sure that it is a good ending and I think, as I'm quite sure premier Petit would agree, we are on the right track.

Linna smiled and offered Agent Smith a beer that he had only moments before picked out form the iceberg and said to him:

Why don't we toast on a good ending?
