With great sadness, we must report to you that the elderly Chairman of the PRHS, Konstantin Chuikov, has succumbed to a heart attack early this evening. He was on his way to visiting the residents of Severo-Kurilsk when he suffered a sudden heart attack. He was quickly taken to the hospital, but despite the best treatment, he did not survive.
Image
Konstantin Chuikov was elected by the parliament as chairman in 1993, allowing him to bring the economic and social reforms he had promised. This included legalising other parties. He had a 76% approval rating when he died.

The Socialist Council has taken interim control. They have announced an election will be scheduled to take place in November. This may drasticaly change the face of Hokkaido-Sakhalin's politics.
The Ezo Workers Party has announced it will elect a new leader shortly.

Current Political Parties:

Breaking News: There are reports that military forces are occupying television stations, placing roadblocks and enforcing curfews around Sapporo. It is not confirmed if this is a coup or not, but the signs are becoming more and more frightening.

The local residents have heard gunfire around the city. Several fires have begun near the Parliamentary Building of Sapporo, possibly cases of arson.

Prime Minister Arik Karezhnov decides not to intervene, due to a severely weakened military and the only military we have is our missiles. So... sorry about that.

Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores Sebastián Ng'ombe has expressed his condolences to the family and friends of Chairman of the PRHS, Konstantin Chuikov. He has stated however that, given the ongoing civil war in Nchiyamengi, the government will be unable to engage in solving the crisis at this time.

Catalina Dumisende, leader of the banned PSP, has expressed her support for the Progress! Party (PP), but has little ability to actually aid them in any meaningful way right now.

General Antonio Hlayambinda, leader of the rebel group the FPRL, has expressed his condolences to the people of the PRHS. They have expressed their continued support for the ruling Ezo Workers Party (EWP). Given that it is engaged in its own civil war they will be unable to help them in any meaningful way right now.

Presidente Cristina Xhonda has offered to host peace talks in the capital city of Xixoxana to try resolve this conflict. All sides in the conflict are invited to send a delegation to the talks, including the military forces involved in the coup, in an effort to try find a peaceful solution to the violence.

The talks would take place in the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) Headquarters in the capital city of Xixoxana, and military, police and security forces will be present to prevent any violence and ensure the safety of all the delegates.

Presidente Cristina Xhonda, Líder de la Oposición Santiago Mozedeni and Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, MP Octavia Xlope will act as co-chairs for such peace talks.
