Terrana, A world on the precipice of it's largest known conflict to date.
It is the Sixth age, 5036 to be exact. After the Magitech revolution changed the face of warfare forever, Terrana has been building up militarily. Tensions are high as Human, Orc, Elf and all other races watch and see the countries of the world stand off. Deals are brokered and secret alliances made. Old grudges will come to new mutiny and new weapons will shed blood and flay flesh. Nationalist nations forget old wars quickly and the glory of fresh conquest is a lure which is hard to resist. Some countries feel the need to protect themselves in such uncertain times, inadvertently making themselves seem more dangerous. Some nations feel a show of military might is the best way to cow a murmuring populace. Whatever the reason, eyes are on all nations as they stand off, waiting for the match to light the fuse.
The spark comes in the form of a crisis. A meeting of several high ranking officials, to be henceforth named "The Alhazar Meeting" (After the island city state it was held in), from various different countries was disrupted by an explosion suspected to be a terrorist attack. Many of the nations involved are blaming other nations or each other. However the documents that were retrieved from the explosion were even more distressing, detailing several covert operations the nations in the meeting had taken together against other nations and several dangerous magical ritual/experiments. A few of the nations involved and their allies have banded together to form a "Coalition" while various other alliances have been forming all over the world, the foremost of these being the "Alhazar Accord" which has stated it's mission for retribution upon the Coalition.
Though war between the two has not yet been declared, both alliances are preparing for the inevitable war and will likely drag the other nations in as well.
So, this rp will be taking place in a fantasy world with World War 2 Era and style tech achieved through magic. Of course there will be dieselpunk style things like mechs and zepplins and flying fortresses.
Technology
Most tech in Terrana works by some sort of magic. Most often machines are fueled by the burning of a magically infused material known as "Elysiam" which provides a considerable amount of energy. Some base their tech on magical steam, whale oil, Astral Tesla arcs or wind power, but for most of the world Elysiam is the fuel of choice.
With the combination of magic and tech, the possibilities are near endless. For example:
- Animated golems made out of metal act as mechs.
- Magically protected Zepplins.
- Undead cyborgs
- Flying Carpets with Machine guns
- Monsterous Cavalry with exploding lances
- Explosive goblin throwers
However there are a few things which are not possible for any nation. Keep in mind that you shouldn't have anything too modern or sci-fi like like FTL travel or Nukes or the internet or something.
Magic
Magic has several schools. The mains ones are:
- Evocation: Elemental Magic, Tossing fireballs and the like.
- Divination: Scrying, Fortune telling and communication. Not always 100% accurate but often very useful in communications.
- Transmutation: Alchemy, allows for equivilent exchange and the creation of magical compounds.
- Conjuration: Conjuring monsters like Demons from other planes.
- Necromancy: Magic of the dead, raising undead and draining life.
- Abjuration: Prevention magic, can counter other spells and protect troops.
- Illusion: Magic dealing with that which is not real. Illusions and deceptions.
- Enchantment: Mind control and mind altering effects. Also effects that effect luck and chance.
