WorldVision 51 will see the Committee elections, which take place every five editions. If you wish to be considered, you can write a manifesto and post it in the sign-up thread, or simply announce your intentions. YOU MUST HAVE TAKEN PART IN AND COMPLETED WORLDVISION 50 TO BE ELIGIBLE TO BE A COMMITTEE MEMBER.

The election will be conducted under the single transferable vote (STV) to elect five members, and this will take place alongside host voting.

IMPORTANT DATES
Host & Committee Voting Opens - Monday 26 September, 20:00 BST
Sign Ups Close; Host & Committee Voting Closes - IC Thread Up - Monday 3 October, 20:00 BST
Deadline for Entries; Voting Begins - Monday 17 October, 20:00 BST
Voting Closes - Monday 24 October, 20:00 BST

A beginner's guide...

Welcome to the WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest, aiming to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple rules and regulations that you'll need to follow.

 1. To start, you must sign-up for the contest. Do so by using the form below and posting that you sign up in this thread. Make sure you sign up before [CUTOFF DATE]. You will not be penalised if you sign up and don’t post a song. These songs will be submitted in the IC thread after a host vote.
 2. At the end of the host bidding period, all nations which have signed up at that point may vote for the nation that will host the contest. Instructions will be posted by this account, and all host votes should be telegrammed to this account as well. The winning bidding nation will then create the IC thread.
 3. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used (usually linked via YouTube). At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations are not allowed. Nations are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative. English is not compulsory.
 4. Once the IC thread has been posted whenever the winning bidding nation chooses, nations will submit songs before the deadline. After the deadline nations may not edit or alter their song in any way, unless otherwise instructed by the committee. Also, after the deadline and any interval act if appropriate (wait for the signal from the host nation), nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 in the IC thread. Nations may not vote for themselves. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote.

If you don't know how to sign up, use this form below; this should help. Not all of these fields have to be filled in, but it certainly helps.

Code: Select all
Nation Name: Your nation's name goes here.
Official Broadcaster: Your official broadcaster for WV goes here.
Song Title: The IC Song title goes here.
Artist(s) Name(s): The name of your act goes here.

Tune: The real life tune you're basing your song on goes here.

Rules and Regulations

 1. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one Contest in order to qualify to host a Song Contest. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic, and fair result.
 2. At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations of real life songs will result in disqualification. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgement. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
 3. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote. Failure to do so will result in a one-contest ban.
 4. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation (that is another nation controlled by the same player); the master nation must confirm their puppet on the thread. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
 5. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.
 6. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. If at any point, you feel you are a victim, or feel someone has been victimised by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
 7. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
 8. Users may "reserve" slots in the running order of the contest, but if one's entry is not completed having made a reservation by the deadline, the perpetrator will receive a one-contest ban. An entry is accepted if it has a complete set of lyrics, regardless of whether stage directions have been finalised or not.
 9. Users may not edit their entries or votes after the deadlines for any reason, including spelling or grammatical errors, unless otherwise instructed to by the Committee.

So basically, be original, try to be fair, don't be a jerk, and have fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to TG the Committee- it helps if you add the Committee's individual member names (Britonisea, Electrum, Mister X and Talvezout) in the "To:" box along with "WorldVision Committee" for a faster response.

Even if you've missed the deadline or aren't participating, feel free to discuss the contest in this thread or post commentary in the IC. You'll find that people greatly appreciate some good commentary.

With all that said, welcome to WorldVision!

Special 50th Anniversary Song Contest

To celebrate the 50th edition of the WorldVision Song Contest, an additional special anniversary contest will be held. The contest, called the WorldVision: "Your Favourites" Edition, is a two-stage contest. The first phase of the contest will find the best song from WorldVision 40-50. In the second phase of the contest, the winning song will go against Todlichebujoku's Cyanide Eyes, the winner of the 40th Anniversary contest to find the best overall song for the first fifty editions of the WorldVision Song Contest. We are currently in the second phase of the competition.

Members of the WorldVision Community,

If you have participated (to completion) in at least one edition of WorldVision, please vote for your favourite song in WV 1-50, instructions here!

Both songs are absolutely great, and it's going to be hard choosing between the two. Just pop down, spend ten minutes of your time listening to the two songs and telegram Polkopia about your nation's vote about which song is the best.
Miscellany
 • It is not necessary to participate in WorldVision 50 to participate in the anniversary contest.
 • This thread will also act as the OOC thread for the other contest as well.
 • Rules 2, 3 (except the consequence is disqualification), 6, 7 and 9 will still apply.

BTW; Aurevbush is not disqualified as he didn't participate in the first place... Or am I missing something? Also, I won't be returning to the committee, but encourage everyone else to go for it!

Also, in hope of regaining trust, for my 20th anniversary, I'd like to look in to hosting again, Kyvivre '51?

The Broken Fortune - Mehkl Maddox Ajax

After the return of the Mehlodhifehstivalhen, the Britonish nation selection show, there has been good results from the contest. Receiving 66% of the viewership at the time, The Mehlodhifehstivalhen Finals was the most watched show of the Summer months so far. Recently, Britonisea's roller coaster results has been perceived badly throughout Britonish media and there has been major changes, announced a few weeks back, to the selection of Britonish acts, to ensure that the roller coaster results are avoided in near future.

After an intense night, it has come to the World's attention that the song which will represent Britonisea at the 51st WorldVision Song Contest and the 27th World Hit Festival - luckily in Britonisea - will be "The Broken Fortune" by an unknown singer Mehkl Maddox Ajax.

Mehkl Maddox Ajax is a 26 year old male, who made successful on the Britonish show, "Mehlodhifehstivalhen" as he won the both the televotes and the public votes ahead of acts like Deacon O'Foier and Braden Hillen, who participated in Vha Mehlodhivestoile - one of the biggest WorldVision selection processes for Britonisea, to claim victory. Though Mehkl wasn't initially a favourite, his simple staging was "different" and refreshing, while his song was quite "ballad-like." There has been many comparisons to Rigas Jengiz's "Disappointment" which won the 26th World Hit Festival in Kalosia.

In Rigas' song, it spoke about disappointment and how disappointment can be a word which everyone wants to avoid because of it's hurtful connotations. The comparison comes in to effect in Mehkl's song "The Broken Fortune" as the listener could relate this back to whatever Rigas was speaking of. But what was Rigas speaking of? Well, in the World Hit Festival, Britonisea was set to withdraw, and admittedly, Rigas wrote about the alternating success of the nation between the WHF and the WV. This makes us believe that the depth of Mehkl's song could relate back to WorldVision...but, in what way?

These are what the first lyrics read;

A secret chance,
A strong façade
A hypnotising gift.
An overpowering trance.

Quite interesting, don't you think? Now that this has been revealed, he will head to Kyvivre and he will start practising for the upcoming World Hit. Then he will travel or will he have to travel?? to the host of the 51st WorldVision Song Contest.

Contact us if you think you know what the song is about! You will be able to see the whole song at the World Hit Festival 27, which is in a couple of weeks. If you want to check out more of the lyrics, head down to http://www.britonisea.gov/worldvision/51 or http://www.britonisea.gov/whf27

The one I proposed?

Oh and btw, I proposed having the contest every 8 weeks; or two months.

Either way, the schedule has been put back to normal, by Mister X.

There was definitely one who didn't put an entry in...?

Also, in.

It was Antahbrantahstan. I'll go edit the thread.

Also we're in, and EDO too.

ICly Tödlichebujoku did vote on time but the voting transmission was delayed due to a strange form of interference. Thus, the nation does not accept any sort of disqualification, and its absence from WV51 is due to an extended time skip where time passes in the outside world but not in Tödlichebujoku's universe.

Back to OOC: I could actively dispute my status via a loophole in the rules (and if the Committee decides to consider it anyway, considering my two posts in the WV50/YF OOC, I would be quite content with them) but I could probably just take a break and focus on RL, my WV52 entry, and the YF edition.

Also my WV53 revenge entry. If I get re-qualified/un-disqualified I'll shove that horror (probably not a horror to TUE) much further into the future

Also if New Warwick or some other old flame re-enters just this edition, and if I'm still disqualified, I will

um

post mildly caustic Kasanova-Koratican commentary I guess

RTVK confirms for the 51st WorldVision Song Contest. WV50 opening act performer Ruslan Ǧamal is rumoured to be the entrant, and the song will be based on this tune.

If anyone has writer's block, I have a song idea for this tune, if anyone's interested let me know (preferably on this thread) and I'll make this an IC thing.

Also, Aurevbush voted for Praciba last edition- what are the consequences for that? I don't recall coming across Praciba's entry.
After posting this, I ended up reading the part of the WV50 OOC that dealt with this
