The Democratic Republic of Konarus conducted its first ICBM test today using its new "Valkyrie" technology.

The ICBM, nicknamed CloudMaker Ultra, had a yield of 19 Megatons, and fillings of Isotope-Z and Deuterium.

Nuclear fallout stretched 30 miles, and lasted for approximately 12 hours.

The nuclear blast and mushroom cloud could be heard or saw from 50 miles away.

President Garrick Madison of The Hoosier Alliance walked into a large oval room filled with generals and foreign advisers. He took a seat at the end and one of the men farthest from him stood up.

"Sir, today a small island nation detonated a nuclear ICBM in the Pacific Ocean. This was the nations first and, obviously, a nuclear armed nation in the region could threaten our interests there."

The man sat down just as General Houston stood up and spoke. "There is one clear action we must take, mister president. I believe if we land marines in their coastal cities and ports and cut off their capital, we can take the island with relatively few casualties."

"Are you insane?" asked one of the foreign advisers, "We must attempted a diplomatic solution. We cannot commit troops to a war with a nuclear armed enemy. They may never end up a threat. I am sure if an ambassador is sent we can work something out."

President Madison stood up. "We must disarm this nation. Too much is at stake. Trade flowing into the Pacific is vital to our economy and it cannot be threatened by a small island nation that thinks it can flex it's muscles in such a way without someone doing something. Send an ambassador and make sure they get the message: Give up their nukes or we will go to war."

When the diplomat/ambassador from Hoosier arrived, he immediately headed from Novus to Proskva via boat. Taking a taxi to the parliament, he has stated Hoosiers request for a nuclear disarming. The Parliament veto'd his decision, and had him arrested immediately. The current president incument of Konarus, Joseph Romanovich, sent a telegram to Hoosier, stating his disgust at the proposal for nuclear disarmament, also stating that he nor Konarus had no ill-will towards other nations.

President Madison frowned. He looked up and saw that his generals and advisers shared the same look of disgust. General Houston broke the silence, "Sir, they have refused our ultimatum. We have just stepped into the world stage and we cannot show weakness. We have a small fleet in the region and can attempt to blockade Konarus. Marines can be sent and should arrive within a few days. We can invade the island and occupy if we are given the order."

Madison sighed. He looked around and the room and heard no objections. He nodded. "We must not show weakness. By refusing our demands they have declared war on us. Blockade the nation and send them a final warning. Let them know that if they back down and hand over their nuclear weapons we can come to an agreement. If they refuse I want you to shell their cities. We will have victory. God speed gentlemen. Dismissed."

Blue Fleet of the Hoosier Navy is sent to the island nation with a final ultimatum: surrender or declare war.

My proposal is we can keep most of our nuclear stockpile for energy purposes, disassembling said most missiles for use in nuclear power plants, while diverting a select few to nation defense, mainly the Valkyrie missiles. The Admiral frowned. "If you wish for peace then surrender your nation. Hoosier marines will land and inspect your nuclear stockpile and take anything that we consider dangerous to Hoosier interests. You will have no nuclear weapons for your national defense. If you wish I am sure some protection agreement can be reached if you want stronger protection from international threats. Hell, our nation is looking to improving our nuclear capabilities. If you would agree to Hoosier silos in your nation they can be used to protect your nation along with strengthening our nuclear launch zone. Should you accept this the nuclear weapons would be protected and used by Hoosiers. You would avoid war and have some nuclear national defense."

"I do not care if your leader is disgusted by imperialism. I am disgusted that you do not have the will to take what you want. That aside, I am just following orders. If you refuse, your bodies will litter your streets. War or peace will be decided right here, right now, on this deck. I hope for the latter. Accept our ultimatum and we can have peace.

As the news that fellow Socialists produced nuclear weapons was received the leaders of Cypranthum celebrated, but their celebration was quickly halted by the news of a possible conflict. A quick vote was taken by the President, generals, and his military adviser about whether to support the nation of Konarus if a conflict was to breakout. Although Cypranthum is a newcomer on the world stage, Konarus will have full support from Cypranthum. Two thousand troops, and a small destroyer was prepared for an intervention if a conflict was to breakout.

the advisor stepped into her office and closed the door behind him and approached her desk "madame president i suggest you turn on the tv and watch the news......something big has happened in the Pacific". The president turned on her tv and eventually found a news station that began reporting the events that had taken place in the nation of Konarus "well id like to send an ambassador to this nation to assess the situation and possibly help them with their nuclear program. send a small task force to Konarus and keep the situation normal." the advisor got up and left the room to begin getting the operation in motion.

[The Hoosier Alliance]

"Sir, it appears the international community has turned against us," said General Houston. "Two nations, The Union of Independent Republics and Cypranthum, have already entered talks with Konarus. I suggest an aggressive response. Along with the marines I suggest we send the larger Indiana Fleet with the new Madison classes." President Madison nodded. "Also send word that these moves are seen as aggressive to Hoosier national interests and should be halted." Houston nodded and left the room to give the orders.

25 more ships are sent to the Konarus shores, accompanying Hoosier Marines. 10 destroyers, 5 battleships, 5 cruisers, 4 mine countermeasures ships, and 1 aircraft carrier.

[Cedoria]

The People's Republic of Cedoria immedietely requests a diplomatic meeting between top officials of the Democratic Republic of Konarus, and the People's Republic. Whilst we fully support the efforts towards economic and military independence undertaken by Socialist allies, we are concerned about the effects of instability in the Asia-Pacific region, especially among states who are opposed to Konarus's existence.

We call upon Konarus to agree to a meeting with diplomats from the People's Republic and other national governments, for multilateral talks in our capital, Poras. We would state however, that we are opposed to foreign military intervention in Konarus, and will deploy our own military or strategic assets if Konarus is attacked prior to negotiations.

If Konarus agrees, then we call upon all interested parties to send diplomatic represrentatives to Cedoria for discussions about the status of Konarus's program, in a way that both guarantees Konarus a deterrent capability, and ensures this does not destabilise the region.

It should be added, that under the terms of the Vallen Doctrine, the PRC regards an attack that destabilizes the Asia-Pacific region as mandating a military response, thus, in order to avoid a Cedorian counter-attack, we call upon all parties to negotiate rather then risk war with Konarus and Cedoria over the nuclear program.

[Konarus]

Joseph would leave the position as HoS temporarily to his secretary while he left for Poras. Joseph, ordering a small jet to depart from Proskva, was on his way by morning on September 2nd.

Seeing no hope other than the conference, the Kzech diplomat on the Blue Fleet left for Scotia, on Kyprus. When he got there, it was already midnight. Assuming Joseph was already there in Poras, he gave him a call, telling him that the negotiations between the Kzechs and the Blue Fleet itself were a failure, also saying that the negotiations are the only thing that could prevent an international crisis. The diplomat hung up, and stayed in the town.


By September 3rd at near-midnight, Josephs plane landed at Poras' airport, then...

Your test of a nuclear device in the Pacific Ocean has not gone unoticed, and due to the test we will be issuing trade sanctions against you, cutting off all oil, gas, and other strategic materials from being exported to you. In addition, we will be condemning the act and another test of a nuclear weapon will be met with consequences.

While Joseph was in Poras, his secretary updated the infantry loadout. Meanwhile, the whole parliament has condemned Yuktobania's trade sanction, and has cut all ties with the nation, including embassies, ordering the Kzech diplomats at Yutkobania to immediately cease diplomatic operations.

In defiance, Joseph allowed the Experimental Weapons division to go ahead with research on other methods of nuclear fission.

[The Hoosier Alliance]

With the ultimatum refused and reinforcements the Hoosier fleet in the area are given the order to fully blockade the nation. All ships attempting to leave or enter any port will be given a warning. If the warning is ignored, the ship shall be sunk. Hoosier aircraft are prepared to launch from the aircraft carrier. Marines are on still on their way to join the blockade.

Artyom Zvertoyam personally ordered that a single Armenish Beach class destroyer be sent out to off the coast of Konarus to patrol and to remain there at all times. As the Destroyer sailed to it's destination, it's radar and weapon systems were armed, the numerous P-270M Multipurpose Missiles armed and ready to fire. The ship joined up with the Hoosier Fleet to help wth the blockade of the nation.

[The Former Alpine Nations]

This reminds Chairman Ludvik Zajec of one historical event or another. Something nineteen sixties, Cold War, DEFCON 2. He calls in an employee.

"Sir?" the young man that enters asks. "What do you need?"

"I need a drink, son. I've had enough of psychopath dictators with a handful of nukes thinking that they can do whatever the hell they want. I didn't want to get involved in this, but the situation is escalating rapidly. Broadcast this message to all of the nations involved in the conflict."

"Hello, my name is Ludvik Zajec, and I am the elected Chairman of the Former Alpine Nations. It has come to my attention that the nation of Konarus has produced and tested weapons of mass destruction. That, along with its tyrannical government. has persuaded me to comment. I formally support the Hoosier blockade of Konarus. However, my support for said blockade ends as soon as Konarus ceases all creation of nuclear weapons and allows an international committee onto their land to ensure that disarmament is carried through with. It's my hope that we can end this conflict without bloodshed. I, for one, have had enough with nuclear weapons and the destruction that they cause."

[Cypranthum]

With a mixed response from the International community, grim thoughts of war floods through President Mason's head. He will not revoke his claims to stand with Konarus, but he does have a proposal to all nations concerned with this situation. The following message is sent to all nations involved.

"Hello, this is Tom Mason, President of the USSC, and I would like to propose a compromise that will suit all parties. If Konarus signs an agreement to use their nuclear capability for defense, and nuclear power plants, and allow a small group of International scientists, etc. to be allowed access to their nuclear programs, will the blockade be disembarked? If this agreement is reached, and Konarus breaks it, then the USSC will fully support an invasion of Konarus."

President Mason hopes that this proposal will solve this dispute. He diligently awaits the response from the International community.

The nation may keep nuclear power plants but must allow Hoosier inspectors to visit the nation whenever they wish and without restriction to insure nuclear weapons have been turned over and will not be produced. If this is refused by the Konarus government Hoosier marines will land on the island. It is this or war."

It was strangely surreal, the 8 lane Proskva roads were empty. At most, only 1 or 2 vans would come through every hour. Joseph was updated on the situation by his secretary, and accepted to give up his current nuclear weapons for the sake of the international situation being defused. But he whispered to his secretary, "Get the blueprints for the Valkyries and Hydrogen bombs. Get them to the Keelings Underground bunker immediately.". The Secretary would oblige, still astonished. When the secretary had the blueprints and scientists at the bunker, Joseph would announce.

We urge our allies to refuse to accept the international blackmail of the Hoosier Republic, and retain its WMDs for defence against the aggression and impudence of the Hoosier Republic.


Chairwoman Tizack has immediately ordered the People's Revolutionary Armed Forces to assemble a taskforce. if the Hoosier Republic does not step down, and allow Konarus to maintain its right to self-defence, the People's Republic will intervene against the Hoosier Republic's destabilizing actions, which threaten the peace and stability of the region.

The mobilisation of the taskforce is in motion, and it will only cease if the Hoosier Republic backs down, for they are unlikely to win a fight with the People's Republic. The ball is now in the court of those who seek to disturb the peace of the region, by destabilising the stability of the area, and blackmail other nation's out of their defensive capabilities.

The Vallen Doctrine will be enforced if the Hoosier Republic pushes on, they must cease their blackmail, or suffer the consequences...

The Union of Yuktobanian Republics stands by the Hoosier Alliance in disarming Konarus's nuclear Arsenal. Due to the growing tensions of the region, we have decided to support operations near Konarus with the 8th Yuktobanian Carrier Assault Group (CAG). This fleet consists of the following.
