The year is 2016, ans the world is much as it is in real life. Much of the world is at peace, but beneath the surface there are many tensions at the brink of boiling over around the world. The west faces a threat from ISIS and other groups from the Middle East, the Americas are facing an unimagined health crisis with the pandemic that is the Zika Virus spreading across the hemisphere. Millions of refugees are fleeing Syria, South Sudan and Iraq in the midst of civil wars in these nations.
Meanwhile, the 2016 Summer Olympic Games has begun in Rio de Janeiro, and the 2016 Presidential Election in the United States is dominated by a billionaire businessman and reality-television star who frequently says irrational and inflammatory comments without any truth to them. The United Kingdom has voted to leave the European Union, and faces the possibility of Scotland, Northern ireland, gibraltar and even London leaving the UK, in order to remain in the EU. Turkey has just faced a coup attempt, and President Erdogan has increased his control of the country and rules with an iron fist.
This is the world of 2016, this is the world we all live in. And this is the world of A World On Brink of Insanity: 2016, and although this RP begins in the real world, the actions that you take during the course of this game will change the world of this RP dramatically.

Does my nation have to exist in 2016?:
No, you can play as Scotland, Quebec or Catalonia, etc, or some country that has been trying to get independence, and then you would play as an independent version of that country.
Can I have any alt-history in this RP?:
Yes you can, but not that much though.
Aren't you the guy who made the After The Great War series of roleplays and how is this RP connected to them?:
Yes, I created the AFTGW series of RPs, but this RP is separate from them. I thought that it would be refreshing to try something different, but I am not ruling out any future entries in the AFTGW series of RPs.
Can I roleplay as a group?:
Yes you can roleplay as a group that does or does not control any land, that is fine.
