"Having spent her entire political career fighting against the status quo, for the good of the world, and for international peace; it was only a matter of time before the darkness began to fight back."

The Queen was enjoying a much-needed weekend off at her imperial palace, after a lengthy debate session with the National Senate to get a bill passed to help make healthcare even more accessible to the citizens of Imperial Esplanade. Being that this was the most divisive and headlining topic of the past few months, one may make the assumption that Her Majesty has been successful in stabilizing and in bringing peace to a people who have long been yearning for both. The evidence lies in the fact that Queen Emmy is spending her weekend on the beach, in a two-piece swimsuit, relaxing and feeling the wind toss and turn her luscious black hair around and the sun ever-so-slightly caramelizing her pale white skin as she lies on a towel to tan. Her newly-acquired boyfriend, named Thomas, sitting next to her reading a book. Peace is achieved, a peace that Imperial Esplanade's predecessor state, the Grand Republic, had never been able to achieve. Except for a dozen or so security guards, there was nobody else around them, and even then the guards were able to keep their distance to respect the privacy of the two young 20-somethings. Not a single stress or concern, it was truly a perfect, beautiful day. The waves cascading and crashing onto the nearby shoreline, birds chirping and the wind whooshing around them, the smell of salt and the clear blue sky accompanied them. 'Just another day in paradise' the young queen would say, revealing a beautiful smile, to her boyfriend. Emmy is an eternal optimist though, meaning she had a tendency to say this regardless of the weather or the situation she finds herself in. Yet, on this particular day, nobody would challenge her on such an assertion.

Seconds later, after that innocent comment, one of the security guards comes running toward the royal couple, saying something into his ear-piece as he communicates with the other guards. "Your Majesty, I highly suggest you get inside now. For your own safety." Queen Emmy turns over to him with a perplexed look on her face. "What's going on?" Just as she says this, several dozen security drones fly overheard, released by the Imperial Palace's Defense System, and head straight toward the Olean Ocean. The other guards run toward Queen Emmy and Thomas, and in the midst of the confusion, an explosion occurs in the ocean. Everyone freezes and looks onward toward the endless blue, and then suddenly a spacecraft comes breaking out of the ocean, and speeding straight at them. "Get them out of here, now!" Screams the commanding officer of the security guards, the one who initially approached the Queen. By now, there are several dozen security personnel on the beach, all of them have their weapons drawn out and are firing at the craft. Two guards have Queen Emmy and Thomas, and are bringing them toward the Palace Complex, to the Emergency Bunker as per protocol for such a situation. The guards manage to kill the pilot in mid-flight with small-arms fire, but not until after the pilot had fired off two heat-seeking missiles: one locked onto Queen Emmy, and the other to Thomas. The guards recognize this, one immediately pushes the Queen down onto the beach, while the other instinctively grabs and runs with Thomas away from the Queen. Everything was happened so quickly. A drone sacrifices itself, flying straight into the trajectory of the incoming missile, to save Queen Emmy; but there wasn't enough time to redirect another drone to sacrifice itself to stop the other missile. Moments after the first explosion, there is a second explosion only about 30 feet away - the distance Thomas and the accompanying guard were able to make between themselves and the Queen. Immediately, five security personnel sprint over to them to check whatever was left of their bodies for their vitals, it was obviously useless. "Dispatch, this is Beachhead. We have two down, both unresponsive. They require immediate extraction, over." He looked down at the dismembered bodies, knowing that such an extraction was pointless. He looked over at the Queen, who was kneeling on the sand in a total state of shock. Just a couple of seconds ago, she was tanning next to her boyfriend... but moments later, he's dead and his remains beyond recognition. What nobody else on the premises knew was that this was the first move of a military coup d'etat. Queen Emmy's dream of peace has come crashing down...

So, basically, this is an attempted military takeover, as you have read, but there are more details regarding this situation that have yet to be revealed-IC. This military takeover is being orchestrated by a handful of generals and admirals, after arresting most of the military hierarchy who they knew would resist, with cooperation with a particular terrorist organization that Queen Emmy and Imperial Esplanade has had an extensive history of fighting against in the past. The stated reasons for the military overthrow will be the following:

1.) Naively diminishing the military strength and might of Imperial Esplanade, particularly after its' predecessor state's bloody and war-torn history - thus leaving it vulnerable to sudden enemy invasion, is a threat to the well-being and security of Imperial Esplanade and its' citizens. Therefore, it is the duty of the military to overthrow the current monarch, and instill one who prioritizes the security of the state.

2.) Ensuring that Imperial Esplanade is brought from the shadows of society, and joining the rest of the Universe via unleashing the nation's economic potential. Her Majesty has deliberately neglected to tend to the economic security and well-being of the nation, instead preferring to focus her attention on environmental matters. We must unleash the engines of industry if we are to expect to compete in the international market.

3.) Queen Emmy is unfit for the role of monarch, she is too young and too naive to understand the need for strength and unity in the eternal vastness of space. Her optimistic dream for peace and liberty is unrealistic and threatening to the state and its' people. Therefore, it is the responsibility of those who are most capable to force a change and instill either a more capable ruler, or to instill a military junta in its' place.

There will be lots of fighting as an all-out Civil War will begin to suddenly break loose across the three solar systems which comprises Imperial Esplanade, word of which would inevitably spread throughout the known Universe. If you wish to participate, all I ask is for you to fill out the following application. I do not have a particular end-game in mind, although I do have an idea of where to steer this RP in order to get it onto its' feet. I am open to suggestions. I suggest reading up on the royal family too, and just briefly reading through the political structure of Imperial Esplanade. No need to go into the Constitution, unless you are intrigued by what I have set up government-wise. OP-controlled characters (such as the royal family) are important to take note of, as they will be involved in the RP as well in various capacities. If you have any questions or concerned, do not hesitate to bring them up in this thread.

Motive(s), in applicable: Njáll is following orders given to him by his father in order to find allies that can help him usurp the throne. After hearing whispers of an uprising by military officials in a nearby empire, Benedikt has tasked Njáll to investigate and get them to help in his campaign. Njáll himself, however, will be more preoccupied with trying to bring peace to Imperial Esplanade.
Appearance: Njáll in dresswear. Njáll wears his combat armour whenever he is on duty.
Personality: Njáll is a lot more compassionate than his father; he's always attempting to put peoples needs before his own; an example of this is that he commandeered a slaver ship and liberated it in the early days of the Usurper's Graceful Retribution, which resulted in a large amount of slaved voluntarily pledging their lives to him in debt. Despite being famously compassionate towards his subjects, he also known for his ferocity on the battlefield. His training as a Knight of Lorros has instilled him with a sense of honor and high morality, however his father sees it as a weakness.
Biography: Njáll was born a decade and a half before the Usurper's Graceful Retribution. Growing up, he was pushed by his father to become a warrior and military leader, whereas Njáll preferred to read about history and become a politician. He lived on various ships with relatives while his father began to help rally support for his campaign. Njáll studied warfare under several of his father's' friends, until he was old enough to join the Knights of Lorros. After his preliminary training, he and a few hundred other knights defected to join in Benedikts campaign. Njáll never saw any heavy fighting, but was involved in small skirmishes while he was sent to gather support for his father's cause, gathering small favours of support amongst the Imperial Systems. He is now being sent to envoy to help delegate a peace in the military takeover, and possibly strike a treaty to help with Benedikts campaign.

Makes you wonder if the young Queen here (as he placed her picture on the command screen with preliminary tactical layovers) has be keeping an Inquisitor or Rouge Trader warm at night.(members of the staff chucked in the background) She must be doing something right to warrant such an reaction force to support her stake on the throne."

"Or it could be that we have not had a chance to mine for any relics in those systems, she seems to be the environmental type according to this dossier, needless to day that fact Several Kill Teams and an Inquisitorial detachment are already on the ground means they have been watching her for some time" said the Captain sifting through reports. " Well my lord, I will see that the word is spread, Emperor be with those rebels as they will need all the help they can get with the Astartes enter the system."

"They are already en route, they left a week ago, that's besides the point. I am glad to see High command naval officers find such a serious commitment of forces a jovial matter." Clipped Lord Commissar Verk; The room went cold as the mans reputation for brutality was known throughout the protraction high command

"Maybe I should see this staff reassigned to the first ships out?" he pondered allowed.

" No, No, Lord that will not be necessary", replied a nervous admiral. "We will ensure that the orders are passed promptly with all conviction in our action."

Motive(s), in applicable: As part of the good faith mission to Planet Olea the crown prince himself was dispatched, his own motives line up with those of his father the king. Over and above securing trade agreements, and hopefully preferred partner status, the Prince seeks to prove himself in his first major diplomatic mission outside of the Kingdom.

Appearance: All members of the Therapnes royal family serve a tour of duty in the Royal Navy, and are considered to be officers in the navy as long as they live. As the Navy has a significant presence the prince has re-donned his dress grey uniform for the duration. Interestingly this puts him under the command of Admiral Montgomery for navy matters. Other than his uniform dress the Prince shares the sharp nose and dark hair of his father.

Personality: In spite of being royalty, Prince Harlow at least seems to be quite modest and intelligent, while it isn't unusual for him to have boastful outbursts, especially in social settings, it always has a certain joking tone to them rather than being serious boasts of his abilities. Loved by the people of Ares, the capitol world of the Kingdom, Harlow exudes charisma, rarely finding himself in situations he can't handle even when caught off guard.

Biography: The first born to the royal family, Harlow was cut out from the moment he was born to be the next king. But, unlike other monarchies, his name and appearance were never released to the press. Appearance: All members of the Therapnes royal family serve a tour of duty in the Royal Navy, and are considered to be officers in the navy as long as they live. As the Navy has a significant presence the prince has re-donned his dress grey uniform for the duration. Interestingly this puts him under the command of Admiral Montgomery for navy matters. Other than his uniform dress the Prince shares the sharp nose and dark hair of his father.

Personality: In spite of being royalty, Prince Harlow at least seems to be quite modest and intelligent, while it isn't unusual for him to have boastful outbursts, especially in social settings, it always has a certain joking tone to them rather than being serious boasts of his abilities. Loved by the people of Ares, the capitol world of the Kingdom, Harlow exudes charisma, rarely finding himself in situations he can't handle even when caught off guard.

Varies. The Metal Man is a cyborg. He wears bodies as if they were clothing, calling them “suits.”
He has many suits, but five are commonly used:

1) Contact Suit (appears an obese, elderly man)

2) The Box (less human-like, but tougher, stronger, etc.—shaped like two cubes, one on top of the other and sandy brown in color)

3) The Egg (prototype with skin that can alter shape, color and texture—prone to mechanical failure)

4) The Hornet (most combat-oriented of the common suits, hovers on maglevs, has a yellow, almost cylindrical main body and four green “limbs” set in the shape of an “X.)

5) The Toolz (engineering-oriented suit, shaped like a tapered cone, with slots in it that contain various tools—by rotating the suit, TMM can select different tools, and internal gearings allow tools to move within the suit so that different tools may be used in combination—moves on tank treads)

Without a suit, he is a tank of internal organs suspended in a clear liquid.

In this RP, I think he'll be mostly using the contact suit.

Stole small spacecraft and returned to earth in 1864. Landed in what is now the Muldova province
of Romania. Returned to Europe, 1880. Returned to United States, 1920. Unjustly accused of
attempted murder, 1937. Tried and convicted in absentia, 1940. Rebuilt and rechristened stolen
spacecraft, “Brain Jar,” 1944. Artificial Intelligence/Operating sentince for ship, “Pete,” brought

The Metal Man was five feet away when Mindy's heart rate picked up. He came over and took her in his arms. She took a deep breath as he used his upper arms to gently stroke her hair back from her eyes. They opened. Only the whites were showing.

He was humming a tune.

Her body took on an evil, red glow, and her face resumed its gleeful expression. Her hand reached up toward the heart of his armor.

He sang.

For years, when the nightmares came to a girl in the night, the Metal Man had been there, and that song had sung the monsters away.

And now, as then, it reached into the core of the woman's soul. She remembered who he was--what she was. You don't just unmake the bond between a father and his children. Even when you try to kill it, it clings to life as tenaciously as life itself. Mindy's face lost all expression. The glow began to fade.

Mindy screamed at the top of her lungs. Her eyes were showing now, and they were filled with terror...and something else. Something in her would not stop fighting. The conflict was quite visible, as the red and gold auras fought for dominance, both in Mindy and the other four, who were also starting to move.

At last, it all went out. All that was left was the Metal Man and the woman he had raised from a terrified girl into a warrior who could take on a demon. And she looked at his scanners, and felt the love behind the machine.

"Daddy," she said, "its name is Svir'ka. It thinks that I am stronger than you, and that it can kill you because it killed me. It has lost the truth. Show it the truth, daddy. Show it."

And, with that, her body changed all into a golden glow and, as the Metal Man watched, it scattered throughout the room, and perhaps the entire universe. For a moment, the rest of the power armor glowed, too, and then, it, too, went silent.

And the Metal Man screamed a scream of anguish as he held the clothes that only a moment before had been the daughter he had never had. And he cried, knowing that, though he had freed them from lifetimes of unrelenting horror, it was not enough, and he would never get his children back again. His cries filled the empty room, and, for that moment, their echoes were his only company.

If they are using a phased array or comm laser it is very unlikely you'd intercept enough data to make out anything beyond 'its a hologram transmission.' They did say they were relaying it through another ship in orbit though so you might not even know I'm talking with someone on the ground. You could pretty safely assume I'm talking with someone if only because I've declared my alliance even without detecting communications
