So Michael Moore, a left-wing pundit and filmmaker, has predicted that Donald Trump is going to win the 2016 American Presidential election.
He lays this out with 5 main points (summarized).
1) The rust belt are attracted to his promises of returning jobs to their states and to withdrawing from free trade organizations like NAFTA.
2) White men are feeling like they are losing power. The Donald represents in their minds the last chance for them to be relevant.
3) Hillary Clinton is untrusted by 70% of Americans.
4) Sanders voters will not be enthusiastic about backing her, if they even bother to vote.
5) Some just want to watch the world burn. Also known as "yolo".

It's something that really has looked like it's on the cards ever since Britain defied expectations and voted for Brexit. America and Britain have both high levels of unhappiness with their political systems as they stand at present, both have been reacting against a broadly liberal world order that has reigned for several decades (improving the general life conditions of people, however giving vast fortunes to a few causing a high inequality) and both have populations that are angry at an incompetent/whiny/preachy/openly-questioning-democracy left.
Michael Moore is right to point out these factors and come to the conclusion that Donald Trump is going to win.
However, there are an awful lot of demographics who are worried by this man. Hispanics are registering to vote in record numbers so that they can stop what they perceive to be an existential threat to themselves. As Michael Moore observed, liberals have won the culture wars, and the biggest beneficiaries of that are women, who not going to be so enthusiastic to get back to the 'good old days' (for both, I'm almost certain at some point I'll have to say "present company excepted", but you get the gist). Not only that, but there are even among men more irreligious people than ever, most of which do not support the 'Christian' message of Donald Trump and the Republican party.
I do believe there is a chance, but now it remains to be asked: what does NationStates think? Is Michael Moore correct in his assessment that Donald Trump will win the election, is he right on some points but woefully wrong on others, or is he completely off his rocker? Please show your working for full marks.
EDIT: Not a fan of Michael Moore. I've disagreed with much of what he has said. I found his comments about snipers horrible, his support for Saddam Hussein disturbing and his general demeanor arrogant. But he does say some interesting things in this article. Please keep this thread to be about his comments and not about the man.
