Faustunland V Ukranas, Emergency UN meeting (Miklagard)

Postby Sjealand » Mon Jun 27, 2016 6:30 am

Islas De Naciones Unidas, UN Headquarters

Javier Perez wiped the sweat off his head as he watched the delegates flow into the meeting hall. His hand was shaking drasticly, and he could not keep his focus. It was his first major case as Secretary General of the UN and it was critial. Conflict was brewing in northern Vilerios as ethnic tension between Faustinians and Ukranesians had burst out and within only weeks the Faustinians had forced the Ukranesians to cede large amounts of land and were now demanding they pay for the construction of a wall. Their southern neighbour Sjealand had so far declared itself neutral, but with another Faustinian wall being built on the Faustinian side of the Poltos river that marks their border, Sjealand decided to close the border and send back any non Sjealandians.

Conflict was definitely on its way, and Javier had worked for days with his staff to prepare a compromise in order to avoid it. ''Damnit this wont end well'' he mubled to his advisor who silently nodded.

The Sjealandian delegation was the first to arrive with Sjealandian UN delegate Rasmus Wagner leading entering the hallalongside Frederik VI and the president of the rigsdag who placed themselves in an observer box where they began taking notes while Wagner greeted the Secretary General.

''God it has been long since we last held a council Javier. Ive missed being here. A shame it would have to be on an occasion like this.'' Javier nodded before responding ''I only hope the respective governments will arrive, i want to get this problem solved as fast as possible. It will save human lives, and i have my rescidence i need to clean''

The door swung open and two pair of shoes walked inside the UN building.
As they made their way towards the big hall, the owners of the pairs of shoes were discussing the situation that was the topic of this summit vigorously.

"Ethnic tensions are flaring up" "This is a grave matter" "Who should we support?" "Should we even pick a side?" "Good point..."

They were Leonardo Caprice Chancellor of Roelandia and Marko Pitrece, Minister of foreign affairs and member of the Particio Democratico, Roelandia's delegates for this UN summit.
As they entered the hall they saw that the Sjealandians had already arrived.
"Look, Marko, the early birds are here first again" Marko smiled at that comment before he approached to greet them.

Premier Daniel Petit walked into the hall, wearing a plain suit with a red tie. On his lapel, a small pin of the Petrokovian flag could be seen, with another pin of the Crotarossian flag below it. He walked in with two people: His aid, Nonna Yakovna, and a stout man with silver-rimmed glasses, in his late 40's. The man spoke to the Premier upon entering the building.

"Premierska Petit, aht est tyrn prim zeit tovaj, njet? Est'ie aht karsensja?"
"Premier Petit, it is your first time here, no? Isn't it beautiful?"

The Premier turned to face to man.
"Aht est, Prima-Soweshachelvk. Y zherdzo bolshoj! Da metz mozhej vehrojtnej setz stonyy; aht'st wak duzej wak nash swoje sowesha zdanije."
"It is, Congress Chairman. And very large! The place could probably seat hundreds; It's as big as our own congress building."

The older man was the first to greet the Sjealandians and Roelandians.
"Priewatnej, parzhet predstejtavielyy. Wyr predsta da Soschalisty Federats Respublika Petrokovie"

The Premier translated for the older man soon after.
"Salutations, fellow representatives. We represent the Socialist Federal Republic of Petrokovia." he said, in the accent native to those from Northern Crotarossiya.

Petit stood for a moment, before feeling the need to clarify.
"My name is Daniel Petit. I am the newly elected Premier of Petrokovia. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the recent dinner gathering; I was still setting up my office. I hope to get to know you well."

He gestured to the older man, and then to Nonna.
"This is the current Chairman of the Soviet Congress, Adam Davidovic-You may recognize him, as he's been Chairman for some time. And this is my aide, Nonna Yakovna."

President Nicola Laverne was the newly elected President of The Commonwealth. She walked into the hall wearing a purple suit with black underneath, flanked by the chosen Panoan delegate to the UN, John Milton. They both had to make good impressions as they were the first ones representing Panoa to the UN. The two had a tiny Panoan flag pinned onto their suits. They roamed around until the leaders and officials of Sjealand, Roelandia and Petrokovia came into view.

Milton saw that the others were already chatting, so Laverne and himself went over to join them. They waited until the others were done conversing so they wouldn't interrupt. "Greetings, I am the newly-elected President Nicola Laverne, and this is John Milton, our delegate to the UN."

Richard Monroe and René Lewis walked into the room, speaking native Exaequation. They pulled out their chairs and sat down. They were both laughing loudly and their pace and demeanor was downright lackadaisical. Monroe took out an expensive fountain pen and threw it onto the table with several papers.

"Hello, everyone." Monroe said, setting his pina colada on the table. "My name is Richard Monroe and my friend here is René Lewis. We are both the Exaequation diplomats for the UN. We look forward to meeting you and getting to know all of you in the future."

General Maynard Obsidian and Diana Perimo walked into the room and took their seats. They both scanned the room as if checking for some kind of danger. "Greetings." Obsidian said with a slight smile and in a 'sophisticated' accent. After news of Roelandia's rejection regarding trade they didn't even acknowledge the diplomatic party's presence and instead addressed everyone else. Perimo reached for her water, but then paused and casually pushed it aside. You could never tell if the UN was giving poisoned, after all.

Pharaoh, the ruler of Sinuhe, and his trusted advisor the vizier Ay Neterhotep, entered the building, but without the pomp and circumstance that usually accompanied Pharaoh's publick appearances. Their outfits were also more subdued than usual, yet they definitely stood out from the crowd: Pharaoh wore an off-white tunic under a blue robe with gold embroidery, with the pharaonic nemes crown. The vizier also wore a white tunic, but it was barely visible under his green outergarment, finished off with a wide belt.

The pharaoh, a boy of only 18 years, seemed incredibly bored from the start, and turned to his vizier and whispered, "Why am I here again? This matter between Faustinland and its neighbours is of no concern to me."

Ay responded by saying, "It is your obligation, Your Majesty. Pharaoh must keep abreast of foreign affairs and intervene when necessary, while keeping a publick relationship with the other nations."

Pharaoh seemed disappointed: he knew Ay was right, but this part of being pharaoh bored him. However, he wanted to please his forefathers and keep Sinuhe relevant, and thus changed his expression to mask his boredom as he took his seat at the table.

The doors swung open and conversation was momentarily hushed as the Grand Župan Dragan Lukić III strode inside the room, walking as though he had a broomstick taped to his back (which he did, sometimes.) Following him was Rodoljub Vulović, the Premier of Ukranas. Rodoljub was an unimpressive man and he knew it, not that he cared. He was firmly of the belief that a state official is there to run the country, not to be popular. Although he didn't like to talk about it, he used to be a singer before going into politics. Dragan, by comparison, was a bear of a man who could rival Frederik in sheer size and strength. Unlike Frederik though, he was a cruel man with a heart of stone. Today they were both wearing standard olive military uniforms in anticipation of the inevitable war that would come from these always destined-to-fail meetings. They took their seats next to Richard Monroe and Pharaoh.

He was impressed with their confidence, and, when they sat next to him, he greeted them with a raised hand in the court fashion. "Grand Župan, Premier," he began, in a hushed voice, "I do not expect this meeting to produce any results at all, but it'll please them." He nodded over to where the other leaders sat. "Just so you know, I'm rooting for you." He winked at the delegates and then leaned back in his chair.

Dragan, pleased, smiled back, speaking in a hushed voice so nobody else would hear. "Xвала - It is good to know that not everyone in this pointless meeting is an utter fool. I am pleased to make your acquaintance. May I suggest that we look further into matters of state after this meeting? Unfortunately, for now we must focus on other matters."

"Yes, indeed we must. A little arms deal never hurt anyone... Well, except those land-thieves on your border." This made Pharaoh laugh a little.

One of the Director's many representatives entered the meeting hall dressed in a well-tailored black suit, as well as carrying a briefcase. Some of the people attending the meeting stopped their conversations for a moment to look at the representative. Faustin Land did, debatably, start the current conflict. However, not that many Faustians viewed it that way. Much less as an actual emergency.

After examining his surroundings for a few seconds, the representative took his seat next to Dragan and his fena, Rodoljub.

"It's not our war? It's not our war?" cries (in)famous Faustin Land-born fascist Kayla Schultz. "Well maybe it's time it became our war! Faustin Land should take a more active, and by 'active' I mean 'hostile', role in international politics! This ethnic squabbling will be over when the war is over, and WE can end that war and purge the impure! Remove Kebab! Sieg Faustin Land!" - From one of my issues.

Edward Kenway and Friedrich Paulus entered the room. "We came as quick as we could. I am Chancellor Edward Kenway, for those of you who didn't meet me at the dinner. It is customary for delegates from Galbeon to be accompanied by a high ranking officer to these meetings, so I brought my highest ranking officer with me." They took their seats, and quietly waited for the meeting to start.

Monroe and Lewis smiled at each other in somewhat disbelief. "Well, then. Your ambassador, I see, has great tastes." Monroe smirked.

Lewis paused, trying to think. "Oh god, there are hundreds of things you can do in Diamond Coast." She paused again. "I am a personal fan of the many beaches. But there truly is anything from museums to theaters to local bars." Lewis said and Monroe quickly chimed in, "I know of a great place that serves the greatest mojitos. I'll have to take you there some time. It truly is a great bar."

"Well to each his own then." Monroe said raising his pina colada in the air and then taking a drink of it. "And no worries, there... uh..." He couldn't think of the Roelandian delegates' name. "Ahem..." Lewis maintained a cool smile and added in smoothly "Marko". "Marko". Monroe said quickly after. "I'm sure we'll grace your chancellors' presence soon enough." He winked.

Having gone back to tapping his pen on the table, and being an impatient man, Pharaoh suddenly slammed his hand down on the table and exclaimed, "Well, are we actually going to start negotiations, or are we just going to sit around with drinks and talk about vacations? I for one cannot stand this small talk; it is unbecoming of this brewing crisis!"

The Representative, who had been idle since he entered the meeting, glared at the Pharaoh for a moment after his mini-outburst before speaking up.

"Yes, you are correct. Faustin Land has indeed acquired land from Ukranas. Though I'm fairly certain most of you are already aware of this. Thus, such questions are rather pointless."

"I didn't hear any news of such a transaction being planned; It was only after it was done that any news appeared. Generally, wouldn't one want to make information known about such a deal before the land swapped hands, so that people may move in or out? Or do you just have a bunch of Ukranasian nationals stuck in your newly-acquired land?" Petit asked.

Sinuhe wrote:Having gone back to tapping his pen on the table, and being an impatient man, Pharaoh suddenly slammed his hand down on the table and exclaimed, "Well, are we actually going to start negotiations, or are we just going to sit around with drinks and talk about vacations? I for one cannot stand this small talk; it is unbecoming of this brewing crisis!"

Dragan looked approvingly at Pharaoh, ignoring the representative who had so rudely insulted his majesty.

"Well said. Gentlemen, I believe I am fair, or at the very least correct in saying that the idea of bending to the preposterous demands made by the money-grubbing Faustinians would be a grave injustice beyond measure! They seek to undermine our national security, they seek to disrupt our unity and weaken our country! But worse, it does not end there! For this is not merely senseless destruction, but rather an early indicator of a malicious plot that will ultimately lead to Ukranas being dragged to the very brink of total destruction, leaving its unsullied lands defenceless and ripe for the taking! The corrupt Faustinian regime has no equal for malignancy, that is a fact that is plain for all to see! For the sake of Ukranas - and by extension, stability in the Northern wildlands, I implore you to stop these warmongering criminals!"

Having expended considerable energy in a not particularly concise rant, Dragan sat back down, awaiting a response.

"So, did they, or did they not, buy that large plot of land from you?" Petit asked. "Was there allotted time for people to move freely back to Ukranas? I didn't hear any news about that."

"Indeed that is true. News of the deal was kept quiet due to already rising tensions between Faustin Land and Ukranas. Mostly because of this wall business. We approached the government of Ukranas to settle the claim. If they refused to talk, nothing else would of happened. In fact, we were quite surprised when they did agree.

Dragan banged his fist on the table and stood, yelling.

"We have no choice! We accept out of the fear of what you would do should we refuse, and you know this always! You know that we are no match for you, and you exploit this to your full advantage, Faustinian!"

"As of right now, you have the entire world on your side. In this way, we're at a large disadvantage while Ukranas is the opposite. As ironic as that is."

"Furthermore, any war started by Faustin Land over the now-incorporated territory would of resulted in a humongous coalition fighting us. The Director is no fool, and he settled the problem the way any civilized person should. Through diplomacy."

Dragan was getting angrier by the minute.

"Diplomacy should not entail fear! Your 'negotiations' are little more than thinly-veiled threats!"
