But seemingly breaking from damnation.
A revolution breaking apart chains of greed,
The rebels of Aether form the Federation.
Led by empty promises of prosperity,
The foolish mortals dare march into the Rift.
The Hayden Federation aims to find power,
But instead their people are lost in the drift.
Time flies by, and hopes of return seem lost,
But the vessel of the lost comrades come back.
A rescue team is sent to establish contact,
and instead they find a plague worse than black.
The vessel wanders along an unknown path,
and the Federation relays words of great gloom.
They warn not to approach the ship of demons,
But the greed of people attracts them to doom.
It's no secret Hayden was after great power,
After all, from the Rift arose the Golden Hand.
Even with demons among the derelict ship,
People from all walks of life plan to expand.
It's like a whisper among the horrific screaming.
Yes, a whisper calls out to the curious factions.
Whatever the power hidden within the ship is,
Armies plot to steal this power for their legions.
The factions dare not march in with full force,
For rumors have it others have dared to try.
Soldiers will approach from distance in squads,
Lest the entire armies and their hopes will die.
The journey into the zombie ship won't be fun,
And the likelihood of teamwork is rather slim.
The sake of the mission is a rather delicate one,
And the risk of betrayal is both high and grim.
The squads will be consisting of the best elites,
Men and women seemingly born for this danger.
It is certain that by the time everyone is done here,
The few remaining heroes will be rife with anger.
The invaders of this ship anticipate these warriors,
For their ultimate plans contradict their survival.
The demons watch them arrive and smile with glee,
None of the trespassers will even get to see revival.
Unlike the Biblical tales that everyone hears of Hell,
Where the damned die and come back for more pain,
There are no second chances when dealing with Satan,
Meaning there will be plenty of death and little gain.
However the Devil likes to see mortals working together.
To make things interesting he is willing to accept sacrifice.
For those who offer their own lives for Saint Lucifer's mercy,
He will let another live for a time, as the martyr will suffice.
The sacrificial lambs must excercise extra caution,
For the overall squads entering the ship are quite small.
If too many of their people succumb to the wrath of Hell,
Then their efforts are for nothing, and the mission will fall.
Worst of all the demon-possessed ship is heavily damaged,
And fragments of the beast are not even within this reality.
To reach the missing sections, portals to Hell are required,
But as the troops press on, they will surely slip into insanity.

Welcome to the Charon's Curse roleplay, which is inspired by my own fun playing Doom and Quake games. This is a unique roleplay different from any other I've hosted. In this game, players will take control of a squad rather than a large army. You may enter the game with only a single character, but I strongly recommend using a squad, and at the maximum number of soldiers too. You may try working with other players, or resort with fighting through the demon-infested ship on your own. There's a small catch here unlike my other roleplays as well:
In the event none of the heroes die within a page of the thread, the next post I make on the other thread will have a character killed off with red text highlighting their death. This will be averted however if one of the heroes die before this happens. Exactly who dies will be determined based on a list of names I've chosen to select along with a die I'll be rolling. It will essentially be a lottery with the "winner" receiving death. Characters who die will not be brought back to life, they may sometimes re-awaken as zombies, but they will be on Hell's side. Extra deaths within a single page will not change the rules, so don't go killing off several of your squad members at once.
Anyways: The goal of the game is to send in a small squad of elite soldiers inside Charon's Flagship. Charon is a commander of the Hayden Federation who was sent to the Rift in order to study more on demons and hopefully come back with a powerful artifact, whatever it may be. There is such an artifact on board the ship, and it's potential remains uncertain. Unfortunately, the demons have commandeered the vessel, and everyone on board is either dead or possessed. Information has leaked out from anonymous sources that Charon was last seen holding the artifact before the demons got loose. The treasure is no doubt on board the bridge, but the bridge section is missing! It might still be reachable, but only by first traversing the bowels of Hell...
While all this is happening, the remains Charon's Flagship for unknown reasons appear to be on a set course for the Meso System, despite the fact the bridge section is gone. If the Hayden Federation doesn't get around to destroying the remains of this vessel, the Meridese surely will. It's a lot better to lose the demonic artifact than it is to have a demonic invasion set upon a nearby planet!
Rules for this game:
- 1: No godmodding (unless you're me messing around with the "lottery system").
2: Speaking of the "lottery system", once a hero is dead, he/she is no longer able to help the squad. If still intact, his/her gear may be picked up.
3: No "essential characters." These are people who pretty much have godmode on. You may telegram me requesting for replacement troops, but whether or not I allow it will depend on a number of factors, mainly how will the replacement troops reach the squad currently alive.
4: The maximum number of troops allowed within a squad is four. It would've been higher, but I don't think the roleplay will go on for an exceedingly long time. The lottery system is in place because I want there to be a challenge along with some tension at play.
5: Don't go into excessive details about gore or sexual themes. Yes this is a Doom roleplay, but for the mods' sake let's not go too far.
6: Vulgar language is allowed, but don't get carried away with it. Nobody is interested in six paragraphs of F-bombs.
7: Don't do anything else that will attract the wrath of the mods. Nobody has fun when the mods are forced to come in.
8: This is all just a game, so try to have fun and not be overly offended.
