Amergos: A New World (OOC/Fantasy/Nation/Open)
OOC(You are Here)/IC/ Terrain Map (political map below roster)

Summary
Welcome to Amergos. A land home to many nations made up of men, elves, and many other types of species. The world is a dangerous place, with sea serpents patrolling the waters, Dragons skulking the mountains, and giant wolves hunting in the forests, plains, and deserts. The people who live here are equally dangerous, either taming these beast for their own devices, or gaining mastery over magic, giving themselves tremendous powers. Can you lead your people to thrive in this harsh world?

1: OP/CO-OP have final say. No arguments.

2: No Godmodding or Metagaming.

3: Use grammar and correct sentence structure, paragraphs, and anything else to make your posts readable. A wall of text with no divisions separating individual paragraphs will not be tolerated.

4: No dismally short posts. No set minimum but posts should preferably have several sentences if not at least a paragraph.

5: Be courteous to one another OOC. No spamming or hateful arguing.

Magic and Gods

Thaumaturgy: Thaumaturgy is the discipline of earthly magics that move the elements. The mages who practice its science learn to take the elements and move them through the force of magic. It encompasses telekinesis, elemental bending, levitation, and stormcasting.

Alchemy: Alchemy is the complex field of elemental combination and chemistry. It is considered to require the least aptitude in magic, since its lessons typically encompass processes akin to cooking, such as making medicine and gunpowder. However, those with the potential can practice the advanced forms of alchemy that require magic, such as pyrokinesis and transmutation.

Necromancy: is not merely raising the dead. A necromancer is trained in the ways of death and knows Mir, the weird god. Their specialty is summoning lost spirits to gain knowledge about various things, such as their will or who killed them, or to enlist their help in battle or espionage; although they may also return them to their bodies as undead, this is taboo among most necromancers. A good necromancer understands where the dead belong: beneath the ground. Their foes are the undead; phantoms who refuse to pass, werewolves and vampires who prey on the living, and necromancers who do not uphold the balance between life and death.

Druidry: the discipline of communing with life, encompassing both the study of nature and nature's relation with magic. Druidic practitioners understand the processes of nature, and learn to control it like the flow of water. Their magics speak to the trees and the beasts, bend branches to their will, and command the respect of lesser creatures.

Tao: the young discipline of controlling one's own soul. It is introspection on the arcane level, and self-control made material. Practitioners reach new heights through control of their own souls, enabling them to overcome the corporeal limits of their bodies and accomplish superhuman tasks. It is the newest school, an offshoot of Druidry that studies the self as opposed to other beings.

Theoturgy: the discipline of convening with deities for power. Theoturgy is one part magical potential and one part charisma. Theoturgists bargain with their patron god for a fraction of his power, their power depending on the deity's generosity. As such, Theoturgists may either possess great favor and thus power, or be lacking in their god's eyes. Theoturgy also includes the study of the nature of deities.

Summoning: When a God grows stronger in power, they gain the ability to create beings to serve them directly and carry out their will throughout the realm. These creatures are capable of powerful feats and because so have drawn the attention of mortals. Summoning requires huge amounts of magical prowess and mental fortitude of the Summoner and comes with great power yet great risk. While a God can create powerful creatures to do their bidding, a Summoner can only summon one at a time and once the task laid out is done, the Summoned creature goes back to the service of the God. Summoning also demands an exchange of mortal life force in exchange for the creature. If the Summoned creature requires too much power, it can lead to the death of the Summoner. The Summoning process differs from God to God, some requiring an extra condition or needing another creation of the God to broker the deal. All summoning processes however, are rituals that require precision.

Here be my Orks

Postby Shadowwell » Sun Jun 12, 2016 10:17 am

NS Nation Name: Shadowwell
Rp Nation Name: Narback
Race: Ork

-Nation
Population (no more than 5 million: 2.5 million
History and Culture :
History: They are plant based humanoid with immense strength and power. long ago they were made when Sentient plants were affected by Rogue magic, eventually the Orks emerged. They are large and muscular usually regardless of gender. They dwarf most humanoid races, they are taller as well. However due to the Change centuries ago not all Orks are like previously described.
Centuries ago they were a rabble of near mindless War mongers who respected only the strong. Things have changed slightly since then due to their last WarChief Dibhur Vartash, one of the First Orks sacrificed himself on the battlefield to give his people what they needed to survive. His death released all the magic and energy that had been built up over his millennia of existence. His magic changed them, they were made to be more like him. They still respected strength but they realized strength came in different forms. for the most It affected each Ork differently.

Some of the Orks embraced metal and stone working having better respect for the humans and their fortresses. Others turned to the nearby seas and made ships fusing the magic and the mundane. Some chose to further embrace the study of the Arcane, they would become known as Shamans or druids. They could bend nature or minds to their whims, on the battle field while weak physically they could let the earth devour their enemies. Others bred war beasts respecting nature in a different way from the Druids. Many still retained the way of the warrior they had, but they went about it smarter, not just throwing wave after wave hoping the sheer numbers will destroy the enemies. This made the Orks more diverse and perhaps even more powerful than they were before.

culture: They are tribal with 9 regions each housing multiple tribes. Each of the tribes in each region do their own thing for the most part and skirmishes do happen. usually the Race becomes united in times of War. Each tribe has a leader and each region elects a leader for the council, this is done differently in all regions. The difference in the process tends to make the council varied in viewpoints and the like usually. They have no actual currency, instead relying on a sort of barter system with the different grades assigned to items being a relative marker of the items worth. Some of the tribes that actually border other nations do usually possess some form of currency in case the rarity happens and they have outside visitors. They have a religion of sorts, they revere their ancestors and the Strong. They have a god whose name is Norvash, it is said he was originally the first and most powerful Ork ever made. They do not have temples or the like, merely small shrines of sorts. Some Shamans or seers can supposedly commune with him. While they may kill each other on occasion they are still united for the most part when the time calls for it.

Location: The bottom most island and part of the land to the right of the mountain bordering the desert. the ice land is the bottom border.Best I can do
Ruler : The race is generally ruled by a council made up of one chief from each region, the chief on the council changes every 3 years. When in war a true leader will be elected, current head councilor is Norack Var'tash, descendant of the last War Chief.

-Military
Military Population: 2.3 million (at heart they are still a warrior race, and they all can fight.)
Common Soldier equipment : general grunt weapons, Shaman Staffs
General ships
small boats
pirate ships

Pics of orc warriors 1, 2, 3, shaman

mounts: Spider mounts for forested and mountainous areas.
Torvash used on the borders with the southern icylands.
Dor'Vash Scaled down for flying, few in number.
Alrotash For on plains and open fields, run fast.
Strengths: Their military diversity, the magic and regeneration.
Weaknesses: most temperature related magics, things that mess with the mind, (only when a shaman or chief is not present), Many of them are made to do certain things and only those things.

Dragons.

More seriously, the first one is exactly as proscribed. Remember how I mentioned that dragons only have gods under certain circumstances? This would be one of them. Basically, long ago a group of dragons commission human workers to build shit for them, but as time went by more humans gathered and began revering the dragons, and built a city. As I described, this resulted in mana gathering in one location and creating the dragon god Kharkov, a deity in the visage of a dragon. Kharkov fights the local dragon lords and forces them to worship him, thus adding their mana to his. So we get a kingdom of angry dragons bound to an unwanted patron's will.

The second one is a sparse collection of dragons that span a mountain range and live by the same general code. They keep the woods in the mountains and make them bountiful. Unfortunately they're so decentralized that accomplishing anything offensive is difficult.

Also, claiming one of the big lakes on the northern continents. Likely the eastern one.

Amergos: A New World (OOC/Fantasy/Nation/Open)

Postby Taigawa » Sun Jun 12, 2016 12:10 pm

NS Nation Name: Imperial Ecumene of Taigawa
Rp Nation Name: The Celestial Empire
Race (Human, Elf, other): Anthro Dragon

-Nation
Population (no more than 5 million: 4.9 million
History and Culture (2 paragraphs minimum): The Celestial Empire originated in the mountains on the Eastern continent many thousands of years ago. Over the centuries, they expanded their holdings to encompass the mountain chain of their birth and it's immediate environs. They built many cities either against and into cliffs or on defensible locations during this time as their traditions developed. They are militristic and favor honor and bravery in battle, even against lesser beings. In the culture of the Celestial Empire, gender roles do not exist, and are considered detrimental to societal progress. The people of the Celestial Empire worship their leader as a living god, and see her as a messager from the heavens. Nudity is considered normal, as it is believed the draconic body is something to be proud of and celebrated.

Masters of thaumaturgy and metal working, the cities of the Celestial Empire are centers of magical learning and study. Their architecture is astetic and large, favoring ornate, otagonal domed towers made of stone, metal and glass, as well as corbal arches, horseshoes arches, and large open spaces. The inhabitants of the Celestial Empire are quite fond of decorating their buildings with draconic statues and motifs, often carving such designs into the walls of their buildings. Pillars are often carved to resemble stacks of scales, usually supporoing an ornate capital. Their cities are often planned to incorperate defense-in-depth, where an outer wall with towers will defend an outer district of a city, while a higher wall will defend an upper area of a city, typically a citedel or other imporant building. The more important a city is, the more heavily defended it will be. Most cities are fed by springs, aquaducts or occasionally both.

Location(Look at the map linked above):[b] The upper mountain chain on the Eastern continent, and it's immediate environs.
[b]Ruler (Bio and name 1 paragraph minimum)
:Cynder is a powerful black dragon that dwells in an underground palace carved in the cliffs behind the capital city of the Celestial Empire. She is capable of great feats of magic and her presence there drew many of her nation's race to that location. She is outspoken and not affraid to lead her nation's armies into battle. That being said, she often devotes herself to magical study, occasionally sharing her findings with her people.

-Military
Military Population: 250,000, though twice this number could be conscripted
Common Soldier equipment (please spoiler pictures): Plate armor that almost protects the entire body, looking much like crystals with faint veins of metal through out. A helmet made of the same material protects the upper portion of the face, with holes for the eyes and horns of the wearer. The lower body and tail is protected by articulated plates of the same material. Soldiers carry greatswords, battleaxes or twojhanded maces made of the same material, while battle mages are more lightly armored and carry staves.
Strengths: They are physically taller and stronger the humans; mastery of elemental magic; all anthro dragons can fly.
Weaknesses: Their armor leaves blindspots open and does not protect every part of the body. Regular plate armor weaknesses; There belly is a true weakspot; Killing an army's leader and it's officers could cause it to collapse; The supplies needed for a campeign are twice what is needed for a human-like civilization to mount one of a similar size.
