“So, with that, the bid in Dornalia should be handled,” His Eminence began once Arnold Estleman, Minister of Trade, had disconnected. “Now, Secretary Duerr, I had an interesting thought. As you know, we’ve gotten rather close to some very diverse nations recently, some of which have citizens who display powers we can only call… well, magic,” Jaciob Stephenson, Emperor of Rohane Alista and Arasdal, continued, to nods and other general acknowledgment from the remaining Cabinet officials. “I want to invite some, after they’re checked and cleared by our state department, of course, to allow us to investigate their powers. In return I intend to offer them lodging, funds, and freedom during times they aren’t being tested. Can you make that work?”
“Certainly, sir,” Ambar Duerr replied, almost drawling from speaking slowly, “Though I may take some time to get facilities set up. I shall need to contact someone I can trust with this… perhaps the University of Calihain. It has facilities we could use, and some very bright staff… Yes, I can get this set up, perhaps faster than expected. Please invite the first guest, and provide me with the information needed to prepare the scientists,” Secretary Duerr finished, before nodding and leaving the room, muttering to himself the whole time.
As he got into his vehicle and connected to the rail network, he set his destination as the Administration of Science, Technology, and Education, while using the vehicles built in phone to call the dean of the University of Calihain, Dr. Miranda Oboros.
“Hello, Dr. Oboros? This is Secretary Duerr,” He began, continuing at a much quicker pace than usual, “I wish for you to set aside Dr. Asthetah and his team, as well as the facilities in the lower levels of the Old College. Straight from his Eminence, you see,” He finished rapidly, awaiting a response.
“Hello to you too, Secretary,” the wry voice of a tired Dr. Oboros replied through the phone. “Dare I ask what you are planning to investigate? You know Dr. Asthetah is on the far forefront of quantum research.”
“You are aware, I am sure, of the recent discovery of nations with abilities we can only refer to as magic. His Eminence wishes to invite some of these individuals and see if they would be willing to help us in experiments. I want Dr. Asthetah, this is something very few others could even make progress with in Rohane,” the secretary replied. “I will let you know when the first visitor is on their way. Good day, Dr. Oboros.”
