Grey shadows are out there, following us, watching us. I have felt their eyes staring into me for the past nine days now, ever since our whole platoon got separated from our company... We started off with forty-five men, but now there's only six of us left. Several soldiers have been taken every night.

The pack is not taking any sides either. Earlier we ran into a squad of Fascists, what's left of it at least. I don't know what the hell is going on here, but I'll be damned if it'll stop me from getting back.

It has been two days since then. Now there are several German Soldiers and villagers from an empty village we passed by that have decided to join forces with us, having been through the same thing. But, as the group's number increases, so does the desperation. Less food and water to go around, ammunition has been dwindling due to previous encounters with the wolves. We need supplies fast, so scavenging is necessary for our survival. Despite all the bad news, we've only had light amounts of casualties, but that's as good as any news will get.

In this RP, you will be playing as either Red Army soldiers, SS soldiers, Wermacht soldiers, or villagers, who must work together if they are to survive the bloodthirsty wolves that are hunting them down in the woods of Ukraine. Low on food, supplies, and ammunition, it will be a do-or-die situation. But there are dangers one must watch out for. Even within the group, some wolves might be wearing uniform. Is it possible to work together with the enemy, even when survival is at stake? And who can you trust? Will the soldiers be prepared, or will it be the end for them?

Rules:

1. No Godmodding or Metagaming. Characters aren't invincible and they will die. After all, this a horror RP.
2. You cannot have unlimited ammunition, take note that everyone will start low ammunition.
3. No one-liners, please. At least three sentences per post.
4. Swearing and use of derogatory terms in the IC is fine, keep it there.
5. Go over arguments with TG:s, don't pepper the OOC with them.
6. Despite being a Horror RP, try to be realistic, we're not super soldiers.
7. Max three characters per RP:er. You may create a new character if/when your original ones die.
8. Break any of the rules three times, I kill of your character.

Announcements:

1. We've got some officers now, so it would be nice to see more privates and civilians.

2. From now on, to not make things too easy, no more civilians with rifles, or who are hunters (unless your app is really good). The wolves must stand a chance too you know, not to mention that most hunters already had been conscripted, and many weapons had been confiscated by the Red Army (since they also had a shortage of that).

3. Those of you who have signed up but not posted IC yet have 24 hours to do so. After that, your characters will become NPC:s and may be killed off. If you for some reason need more time, explain it to me in a telegram, or write it directly here in the OOC.

The story so far...

The Germans and the Soviets are together in the cabin. The atmosphere is tense, but talks about searching the nearby deserted village have nevertheless started if ever so slowly. More people are arriving to the cabin, one by jumping through and breaking the window even, to the great annoyance of both friends and enemies...

He made notable accomplishments in the invasion of Poland, France, Greece, Yugoslavia, and eventually Russia. By the time he made it to Russia he was a Oberstleutnant. By the time he reached the RP's location, he was leading a few platoons, approximately 60 men, when heavy snowing came in. Shortly after that, the wolves attacked. The colonel waited out the battle for 2 days, where he was the only survivor. He made it out to a town a mile away.

Personality: Dietrich is probably one of the most laid back SS soldat that you would ever meet. He's extremely calm and collected during a stressful situation which only years of combat experience could provide. That experience, however, caused him to lose his cheerful outlook on life. He's just biding his time until he get's killed in the war like so many of his brothers.

Dietrich was born in 1918 in Mainz, Germany to a fisherman's family. Most of his early life, Dietrich helped his father the family fishing boat as well as looking after his two younger brothers. As a child, he remembered life being rather hard for his family in the years that followed WWI. Since Mainz is located in the Rhineland, the area was occupied by the French. The French hierarchy drained their family dry for years until the French left in 1930. Getting caught up in the extreme patriotism at the time, Dietrich joined the Hitler youth. He showed great leadership and skill that when the time arrived, Dietrich joined the Waffen-SS.

When WWII started, Dietrich was sent to the eastern front and participated in the invasion of Poland. He witnessed the push into Russia, thinking that Germany was invincible. By the time the German army pushed past Moscow, Dietrich's younger brother Heinz joined his unit. Instead of focusing on combat, Dietrich focused on keeping Heinz safe. Dietrich's unit was caught up in the Battle of Stalingrad where he witness the true horrors of war. Almost every man in his unit was killed, including Heinz. Dietrich was one of the few lucky ones to escape Stalingrad and ever since then, it changed him. He was reassigned to Ukraine with a new unit, charged with occupying a small town. It was then that the wolves attacked, killing everyone except Dietrich. Thanks to his expert sniper skills, he hid away from the creatures. Now Dietrich is just biding his time, until he succumbs to the wolves.

A veteran of the Great War and the Russian Civil War, he rose through the ranks and eventually becoming a division commander, but this would eventually lead to his demise. By the time of the Soviet Military Purge, among those that were executed, was Pavel's father. While the majority of his brothers and sisters resentment grew towards the government, it only strengthened Pavel's belief to not challenge Stalin's power. Powering through the tough times, he found that it wasn't that bad..... Until Germany betrayed them and invaded the country. The USSR now in danger, among those called to defend the Motherland were his older brothers, and Pavel would soon follow.

Conscripted at age of 18 years old, he first saw action in the defense of Moscow. Lucky enough to go through the three months of hellish fighting unscathed, his brothers would not be so fortunate. All were killed in action, perishing in different fronts, and to add insult to injury his sisters were conscripted as well. Fighting on, he motivates himself to live till the end of the war, so he could see his family and perhaps give them a better life. This would land him to the current situation he is in.

With his father gone for the most part, he and his brothers learned how to support the family the best they could. That meant on farming and hunting, to which Pavel showed a natural affinity for. Unafraid of the wolves and the lack of supplies, he only sees this as an obstacle he has to go through to go home.

When she was a teenager, she visited France along with her aunt and brother where she saw her first film, Marked Woman, which starred Bette Davis. Since then, Katerina has dreamed of appearing on the silver screen.

Katerina was very close to her brother Yuri, and when the war broke out, he joined the Red Army, to fight for his families survival. Katerina received his letters every now and then, always praying for his safe return. Last year, her uncle passed away of a heart attack, leaving her aunt with a broken heart and crippling depression. Due to her aunt's mental state, Katerina was forced to undertake the running of the Inn by herself, which proved tough at first, especially with the war. The first few months was business as usual, but eventually, guest no longer walked through the door, and Katerina was left with a slowly decaying Inn. She had enough money saved up to buy what little rations and supplies she could, but times grew tough, especially since she stopped receiving letters from her brother.

Eventually, her town was occupied by the Germans, and resistance was met with brute force. A few villagers remained, either they were too old, frail or scared to fight back. Katerina would have ran, she knew the woods like the back of her hand, but she knew they're infested with wolves and she wouldn't dare leave her aunt behind. However, the combination of cold weather and lack of rations made people weak, it made people off their guard; and that's when the wolves started killing. One by one, villagers and soldiers alike were mauled, taken into the forests by the pack of wolves. A few soldiers took refuge in Katerina's Inn, as if she had a say in whether they could stay or not. At times, she felt like a prisoner in her own home, but for the time being, at least she was safe from the cold, and wolves. Even though there is little left for her now, Katerina clings to tiny shreds of hope for her brother's return, so they can leave the Ukraine and start anew in America.

Not only that, but the unit is being stalked and hunted by a pack of wolves, who have a knack of picking them off one by one. Now, they join forces with villagers and German units left in the area in an attempt to live through this ordeal.

The situation is similar to the movie, The Grey (2011), where it focuses on the survival and direness of the situation rather than the actual action. So more on character interaction, developing them, and some tense filled action here and there.

That answers my question. I just wanted to make sure it was fighting/escaping wolves in the literal sense, and not the philosophical/figurative way I originally thought.

Anyway, I'll probably app as a crashed Hungarian pilot, unless I can only play a Soviet or German soldier.

Personality: Gyuri is very trusting, perhaps to a fault. He can be aloof, but usually has the best intentions. He cares for those he gets close to, and isn't afraid to be outwardly kind. However, he despises the Soviets, and is probably overly willing to follow the Germans, mostly as that it had been engrained in him serving alongside their military. This makes him hesitant to work alongside the dirty communists.

Gyuri was born on the banks of the Danube in far Western Hungary, in a tiny town to a farmer and his wife. His father was a fiercely patriotic Great War veteran, who was also radically anti-communist. Despite this, it did not fully affect Gyuri, only influencing him subconsciously. Gyuri was a good student, and hated his agrarian background. So, he applied for architectural university in Budapest, and was accepted. In university he was a bright student, and took well to the subject materials. He then entered in an exchange program with students in the Alanus Hochschule für Kunst und Gesellschaft in Alter in Bonn, as he wished to study in Germany. He finished his degree there, and came back to Budapest two years later, with knowledge of German and skill in his craft. Two years later, the Second World War was in full swing. Due to the nationalistic influence of his father, Gyuri joined the Magyar Királyi Honvéd Légierő, and received training to become a pilot. Soon after, he was shipped off to the Eastern Front, serving under the German Fliegerkorps, where his knowledge of German, however rusty, became handy. Unfortunately, he was a fairly awful pilot of his craft, the Re 2000 Heja, as architecture did not provide him the necessary skills to be a good pilot, the skills training does not necessarily gain you. So during his second mission, he was shot down in a dogfight over rural Ukraine. He crashed, and only had his small survival kit including the above supplies to survive the harsh winter with, alone. Or so he thought.

The only thing you have to do is provide better understanding of the your character's background. In your previous app, it was denied since it never really told that much about him. Instead, it focused on his abilities, accomplishments, where he's been and how he got there. Preferably, talk about his experience, what he got out of those. Let us grasp what his lifestyle was, whether he was privileged or poor, etc..

Also, you might want to flesh out his personality, rather than just saying the traits he has.

Elaborate on your question?

I mean, the premise of the plot was that a unit of Red Army soldiers were separated. Not only that, but the unit is being stalked and hunted by a pack of wolves, who have a knack of picking them off one by one. Now, they join forces with villagers and German units left in the area in an attempt to live through this ordeal.

The situation is similar to the movie, The Grey (2011), where it focuses on the survival and direness of the situation rather than the actual action. So more on character interaction, developing them, and some tense filled action here and there.

That answers my question. I just wanted to make sure it was fighting/escaping wolves in the literal sense, and not the philosophical/figurative way I originally thought.

Anyway, I'll probably app as a crashed Hungarian pilot, unless I can only play a Soviet or German soldier.

What Ryn said. Though if I somewhere was too vague in the OP, don't hesitate to point it out.

My inspiration for this comes from mostly three things (not The Grey though, I haven't seen it, so any similarities with that movie are completely coincidential): 1) Ryn's original RP about a supernatural creature haunting Americans, Germans, and civilians in the Ardennes, 2) The Kirov wolf attacks, and 3) this actual event, though IRL it was during WW1 instead (read more about that here, if you like: http://hubpages.com/education/WW1-Russi ... War-Horses).

The reason I went with WW2 instead is because I'm more familiar with that war, and because it adds the dimension of class and race war as an idea among the soldiers involved (some of them at least). I think that little ingredient could provide more tension and a different form of drama to the plot, rather than what German and Russian soldiers who only fight basically because their emperor told them to, would (they would probably get along better from the start than this clientele...).

One question though: Is your character serving in Wehrmacht, or is he still part of the Hungarian army? I'm sure you'll mention it in the bio, I'm mainly just asking if I should add a line for Hungarians in the roster.
