What's your deviation?

Postby Sack Jackpot Winners » Sun May 22, 2016 12:32 pm

I've noticed that many politicians are pretty hard line "conservative" or "liberal" on most issues. Naturally this doesn't reflect people (and therefore voters), who can be varied on many issues but still identify as a liberal/conservative. Although politicians seem to be putting on a face by being along ideological lines on most issues but holding a few contradicting views close, the average person has a palette of ideals that they can afford to share.

So I ask NSG, what is your general affiliation (liberal, conservative, anarchist, fascist, communist, etc) and what are your deviations from that ideology? For sake of clarity, I will go first.

I'm generally conservative, but am more liberal on immigration and the environment. I'm much more for open immigration when a country could support it (like the United States) and though I despise the corrupt EPA and more non-governmental environmental organizations, I am very adamants about being a responsible keeper of earth and it's resources.

I'm liberal on pretty much everything except for capital punishment and "Stand Your Ground" laws. Other than that I'm liberal on everything else.

I'm a strong liberal democratic socialist, I support Captial Punisment and "Stand Your Ground" laws.

I support comprehensive welfare systems and I believe all countries should be Welfare States.
Free healthcare, free education, free college etc.

I support regulated capitalism, free market etc.

I support abortion, gay marriage, equality etc.

I believe all guns should be banned from civilian use except for hunting purposes.

I believe all hate groups (which include ALL racist groups like the KKK etc.) and groups/gangs that participate in illegal activity should
be illegal and punishable.

I think we need to protect the environment and eco-system as well.

I believe in animal rights as well.

I support egalitarian feminism.

Somewhere right of center, I'd say. I'm all for lower taxes on income and corporations, free trade, lower capital gains taxes, encouraging small businesses and entrepreneurship and whatnot. On social issues, I'm somewhere in the middle I guess, I'm pro life with many exceptions, staunchly pro second amendment, anti death penalty, pro same sex marriage, anti affirmative action, anti political correctness etc etc. As for immigration, I want a merit based immigration system similar to the one implemented in Australia. Multiculturalists and far rightists are both two sides of the same coin of stupidity.

I'm an adamant defender of free speech as well, something that matters more and more in the society we live in. I'm also all for legislation against climate change, which again, is something the right needs to become more aware of.

Some say I'm a classical liberal, some say I'm a right of center populist or just a populist moderate, but I'm really just a moderate right winger against the increasingly toxic and polarized political environments we see today, especially the environment against free speech and whatnot.

I used to be a lot more politically dogmatic, ascribing deeply to an ideology, but now I'm more flexible and don't have a single label that can really describe me. My sig says classical liberal, but I doubt pure blooded libertarians would like me too much.

I'm having somewhat of a political identity crisis as I still see myself as a "traditionalist" and a "conservative" however, I'm socially liberal, Economically Libertarian and Patriotic at the same time. Liberals call me conservative because I'm also right-wing and an avid supporter of free-market capitalism, freedom of expression and speech and general individualist principles, I'm also staunchly against mass immigration and "multiculturalism" with this, I'm often branded as racist, sexist, bigoted, homophobic, transphobic, abelist, islamophobic etc etc by but oh well. Conservatives call me a Loony lefty for supporting animal rights, gay rights and measures to protect the environment (anti-deforestation, pro-renewable energy etc.)

As you say there are cross-overs from both "sides" such as my opinions on abortion (before 12 weeks only), gun control (I'm a gun-nut), monarchy and democracy, nationalism and a whole bunch of other things (just ask me and I'll tell)

I'm not an anarcho capitalist, nor a pure libertarian. Rather, I'm just calling a spade a spade.

Then again, most anarchists are hypocrites, they claim to love freedom of speech, while simultaneously advocating physical violence against political opponents.

This pretty much mirrors my view with a couple exceptions: I don't think guns should be banned from civilian use, but greater emphasis should be placed on firearm safety training, focusing on proper containment and care. Oh, and background checks. 'Well-Regulated' is an important part of that particular amendment for me.

I would also note that not college is not the end-all-be-all of post-secondary education. Technical schools and apprenticeships are perfectly respectable options that should not be overlooked. Seriously we need plumbers and electricians soooooo bad. If somebody likes working with their hands and doesn't mind getting a little dirty in order to make a decent buck, more power to 'em. This isn't intended to contest your free education stance, just to augment it.

Oh, and higher minimum wage as a matter of course.

Well, I'm a liberal in that I support gay rights, expansive social welfare, legalisation of marijuana, religious pluralism, gun control, etc. But I also oppose mass-immigration and demographic replacement, support the organising role of religion in society, and the right to refuse service if it conflicts with religious beliefs. So basically I'm a deeply religious liberal who is also a racist.

Unlike a lot of socialists I'm pretty pro tech and tend to think favourably of some entrepreneurs. Also for some one whos very socially liberal I tend to de-emphasise Identity politics and emphasise solidarity and class based solutions class being the first issue we fix and seeing which issues remain after that as I think capitalism enforces minority rule of some kind and whomever than minority is is going to be at least moderately shitty to others not in their Race/class/Gender even if just by ignorance and not malice.

Well, I'm a High Tory. I support monarchism, cultural conservatism and social conservatism to a degree; economically I support distributism as an ideal and regulated welfare capitalism as a more immediate, short-term strategy. I guess I differ from other traditionalist conservatives and monarchists in that I don't really care about same-sex marriage all that much, I'm not as hardline on immigration issues, and I have very strong environmentalist and animal rights views. Additionally, I am strongly opposed to the death penalty.

I believe he means that we, as individuals will, coincidentally, decide, at the same time, to physically remove or terminate communists. through any means necessary.

Anyways, I'm a Christian Libertarian that deviates from Libertarianism on the matter of Borders (I believe open borders will only be a safe option AFTER we neuter the welfare state) and the matter of Abortion (Pro-Life, though still technically libertarian here because that a child past the age of viability has the sacred, unalienable, creator-endowed right to Life.)

As far as Philosophically, I basically believe that the source of all authority is from god, delegated to the governed who must then give their consent to be governed, and thus, when a government loses the consent of the governed it is no longer to be considered legitimate, and must be thrown off.

Primarily a Marxist-Leninist, but I have had a few change in ideology before arriving back at it which lead me to infuse a bit of religion into it, as well as a few more attempts at influencing society in a certain direction (preferably without force).
