The Bluewell Conflict

Backstory
The Federal Republic of Bluewell, a small island nation amongst a sea of larger predators. The population of 65 million people live in a well developed nation. The nations rich nature resources, and large tracts of arable land make it a both an economic powerhouse and a beautiful place to visit. The nation is located in the Indian ocean, 400 miles southwest of Indonesia. It straddles the sphere of influence of two great nations. The Armed Republic of Pillowlandia, a large African democratic nation with a wish to contain imperialism and a tendency to intervene in international incidents in the name of democracy. Then there is the Constitutional Empire of Armus Republic, a large imperialistic nation which spans parts of Europe and North America. Both nations have been locked in a cold war for the past fifty years, each competing for influence among the smaller nations and powers of the world.
The Federal Republics northern Island is uninhabited, save for the small submarine base operated by the Pillowlandian Navy. The bases one mission is to track Armus naval assets and ensure the security of the Pillowlandian sphere of influence. While the southern island is home to only a small fishing harbor and a hamlet in the center. The main island, itself only about two times larger than the UK, has a rich bounty of resources and natural beauty. The eastern side of the island is almost entirely rolling hills, fertile farmland, and dense forest. It is undeniably the breadbasket of the island, growing all of the food the island needs and much of what it wants, save for fruits. The rocky west is home to the vast oil and natural gas reserves of the nation. With nearly 400 wells dotted around the island the drilling industry undeniably drives the island economy. The dense forests continue here as well, covering much of the southwestern portion if the island.
However, the recent rapid downturn of the mining and commodity sectors have driven up tensions within the islands groups. The stable, yet fragile democracy is especially vulnerable as the most recent elections have seen the rise of anti-capitalist parties which have captured the lower house. In the upper house pro-annexation parties have taken a majority as well. Outnumbered in both houses, liberals, conservatives, and moderates alike are all forced into the back seat as the two majority party of each house begin internal power struggles in attempts to complete their agenda. The recent secret deal signed by the now outnumbered moderates with Pillowlandia which guaranteed their protection from bigger hungrier fish is now at risk. Conversely, the recent breakdown in talks with Armus for annexation seem set to resume, this time with a majority backing.
As the internal government power struggles occur, the larger ideological fight between Pillowlandia and Armus and the resultant glass peace is set to implode with almost the slightest of touches. Meanwhile, discontent with government rule leads several small groups of people to begin seeking international support, from any person or nation, in an attempt to plan a rebellion. No matter the side, the glass peace of the world is set to shatter. What side are you on?

Rules:
Currently the plan is to have a diplomatic beginning, with negotiations between the primary nations. However, because this is NS after all, conflict will erupt.
Additionally if you decided to be a special snowflake and supply a rebel group; the group and their ideology will be up to you entirely, basically you would RP as said group. However do know that the nation has counter terrorism police(cause at first they would be considered such), shipping rebels arms in a pretty stable country is hard (though far from impossible), that you would have tiny numbers of troops and people in general for quite a long while, also the people will largely not support you, as trust must be earned.
