The Brazilian Politics Discussion Thread

Postby Of Danishes » Wed Mar 30, 2016 12:47 pm

If you watch CNN or is a fan of our politics, you know Brasil is goingo through crazy things right now. Scandals everwhere, an ex-president becoming chief of staff and then, quickly being kick out, AND a possibly an impecheament, with PMDB, the bloody vice-president leaving the gorvenment coalition, it seems like that is what will happen.
Opposition politician being kicked out of their marchs, a far-right politician gaining support, PT's voter saying that their opponents are doing nothing short than coup, the president calling it a "soft coup", things are crazy right now over here seems like it's in a breaking point (with people supporting military intervetion), I ask what do you think it's gonna happen?
I personaly feel like Dilma shouldn't be impeached but i do think she should resign, she just can't govern, altough Temer sucks so much, just an opportunist dick, corruption needs to be stop wherever it exists, corruption doesn't have a party neither should the people.

I'll admit everything I know about the situation comes from this video. Sounds like there needs to be a massive investigation from top to bottom and a lot of bastards need to get locked up.

It looks like Brazilian politics is a total mess right now. There needs to be a deep investigation into corruption and everyone involved should be removed from office.

Ok, so first thing on the agenda, someone should probably remove Dilma from office in a democratic fashion. Secondly, Brazil needs to elect a leader who can deliver neoliberal reforms, as opposed to the same old corrupt bullshit.

Thirdly, someone should probably exile Dilma to the worst favelas of Rio, because, srsly, fuck Dilma Rouseff.

They should have elected Aecio Neves.

About purging corrupt politicians I'm for that! However the thing is Dilma has not been indicted with corruption or directly linked wich makes me think she shouldn't be impeached. The current impeachemment procedures are for something i don't know how to tranlate... Basicly her administration is accused of a lighter form ok cooking the books, however in brazilian law you can only be impeached for crimes of personal responsability wich wasn't proved. As I said i would love if she resigned, even if it ment the dick vice-president assuming, but they currently have no ground for impeachment. At least that's my opinion.

I know they are called the worker's party and all, but they are neoliberal, granted they want to privatize every public company, still neoliberals.
Fun fact: Brasil's party's names means nothing... The most homophobic and pro-gun ownership and rather racist, Bolsonaro was at the Progressive Party, he changed to be able to run for president. The social democrats(PSDB) are neoliberals to the bone (also they are what we consider right wing). of course there are exceptions

The PT did actually achieve something for Brazil. I liked Lula's administration and Dilma is the continuation of Lula's political project. Broadening the rights of the workers, making Brazil a more equal place and promote inter-South American relationships is not bad at all. Moreover, I like Dilma's brave fight against the dicatorship in Brazil. Dilma Coração Valente.
However, the corruption scandal is an enormous problem. Her action of placing Lula in her government can be seen as an act of impunity. If Lula and Dilma are found guilty I will be extremely disappointed; and angered at them. Furthermore, Dilma, fix the damn economy.

Major Tom, Dilma appointed a neoliberal economist as Minister of Economy at the beginning of her second term. ;)

For your interest, in Latin America, politicians and the media often tend to link everyone to corruption. You don't like somebody? Say he's corrupt and broadcast it.

If you mean any party, no. People yeah. Rarer and rarer. I like a dude for instance not linked to anything but he's brother is corrupt it seems. Corruption is pretty widespread.

The sad thing is people expected a full blown commmunist revolution more than corruption by part of Lula and the PT, one must make insane mental gymnastics to not see he's dirty
