Silesian Independence

This is a rp about the beginnings of my nation, all fictional of course.

One day, I wish for the Silesian Federation to be a country spanning what used to be Upper and Lower Silesia and the Sudetenland, in Poland (partly Germany) and the Czech Republic respectively. For this to happen, however, the people still have quite some way to go... let us see what this first push brings.

I will be controlling Poland, the Silesian people and, should the need arise, the Czech and/or German governments.

and maybe be easy on me... while it is not my first rp as a player, it is the first time I have initiated one.

Background:

With lower house parliamentary elections coming up in Poland, the newly founded Silesian Solidarty Party, active in the provinces of Lower Silesia, Opole and Silesia, have been estimated to reach a qualified majority in the constituencies of Walbrzych, Opole and Rybnik. The SSP represents a large part of the Silesian population who, having been ruled over by Austria, Prussia, Germany, Poland and Slovakia in the last century, have been greatly alienated by the national conservative governing party PiS.

The main party line is independence for all Silesian territories currently Polish possessions. The Polish government, which cannot accept such separatist views, has responded to the SSP's growing popularity and increased protests against PiS policies by reinforcing police presence in the affected regions. Branded as provocateurs paid by the EU to destabilise Poland and condemned for harbouring anti-polish sentiments, the people of Silesia grow increasingly restless.

It is nice to see that there is a level of interest, I will remember to set up an OOC thread first, amybe then there can be some more discussions concerning the background too... next time then.

I just uploaded a new post which is hopefully a nice read and gives some ideas for potential fellow rpers. I know that the woman in the pc is Szydlo but it fit so well otherwise, while I do not want to actually trash the existing Polish government

There can be multiple nations taking up the same area on a map, that's just how II roleplay works. It's weird, I know, but a major rule of II/NS roleplaying is to just ignore any references to cartography, where nations are located, and how they reach each other and interact outside of one's own canon.

I thought about that before but I personally did not want to pressure people to choose an existing country or be restricted to RL territories. If we keep it in the NS world, there may be more room to be creative. What do you guys think?

Well, in typical II fashion, all the questions about maps outside of the RP's main canon are ignored, and thus multiple nations can be located in the same place on a map and fictional map-based countries can RP too. My advice is to just not say or do anything about the map outside of maybe a map of Poland in your canon showing your forces and government forces so people can be aware of where they're deploying.

My ultimate goal is to have my sovereign state. If it does not (entirely) work, we may have to set up a second rp

I would have had the rp start as a popular uprising in the constituencies of Legnika, Walbrzych, Opole and Rybnik. This large mass of land is impossible to control for the young activists and they are either forced to or voluntarily retreat to the banks of the Odra, still controlling a large part of the country up to the Czech border and as far east as Bielsko-Biala.



There will be fierce resistance from the Polish government, as this would place the Silesian Solidarity Party in control of the large lower Silesian agricultural areas, important for wheat production, as well as the upper Silesian Industrial Area and the Rybnik Mining Area (I hope the translations match more or less I can give you the original Polish names if you so desire). This means that the cities of Katowice, Tychy, Rybnik, Chorzow etc. and Bielsko-Biala and Oswiecim to the east will be heavily disputed. Another tactically important detail may be a reservoir and a series of rivers and canals in the area.

Wroclaw itself will obviously a target, though not only due to prestige reasons. It is a traffic knot for major roads, railway and air ravel, connecting Warsaw and the rest of northern Poland with southern Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria etc.

If I messed up a lot with one of the pieces of information, feel free to point that out as most of my info comes either from the internet or some convenient maps and an Atlas.
