Carl Sagan, astrophysicist and atheist wrote:"Science is not only compatible with spirituality; it is a profound source of spirituality.
When we recognize our place in an immensity of light-years and in the passage of ages,
when we grasp the intricacy, beauty, and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling,
that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual...
The notion that science and spirituality are somehow mutually exclusive does a disservice to both."

Here is a video of a guy making a drumroll noise with his butt. Perfect.
They really don't strike me as business types. My guess is, their lawyers or advisors persuaded them into it, probably the same people who thought some of the above examples were a good idea.
A lot of marketing people are really, really old-school and apply old rules to the Internet.
Also, to be fair... They've SOMEHOW gotten away with it in the past.Jute wrote:Well, at least Happy Birthday is no longer protected by copyright law.
And it only took a century and a half!

Also here's a page with their subscriber count. It isn't going well for them. Not massive, only from about 14 million down to 13.7 million, but still.

That and there's more of this than just the Fine Bros. Sony tried to copyright the term "lets play" despite not creating the idea of one, and Lets Plays having existed in one form or another for over a decade.

And greed, of course. It is a rare person who is not corrupted by fame, money, or power.

Maybe not massive in comparison to the amount who didn't unsub, but 300,000 people unsubscribing is still pretty significant.
