What is your nation's drinking age? 18-21 depending on the state.
Do children have government cufews? Yes, many states require that persons under 11 or species equivalent may not be outside their homes without a parent or guardian after 22:00, and those between 12-17 be may not be outside their school dormitories without a parent, guardian, or educator (as part of an official school trip) after 23:00. But the actual rules depend on the state.
Can children use currency? Technically, no, as minors cannot enter into contracts without a parent or guardian. But the Freneq common law has really only limited this to more serious purchases or employment contracts (and child labor laws already take care of most of the latter), and very little is stopping kids from using their pocket change to purchase their lunches or the top pop hit off of Ripway's or HighLife.
Is child neglect legal? Oh no. We did away with most parent-child immunities/privileges long ago. It's also a crime in every state.
Is child pornography legal? No. The interests in protecting children from exploitation far outweigh any supposed artistic merit to such productions.
Is child abuse legal? No. As in neglect, we did away with most parent-child immunities/privileges long ago, the only remaining one being the use of reasonable discipline (which can include spanking, although many courts are starting to become more skeptical of it. Confining a child to a room or area for a period of time is generally considered to be reasonable discipline.). And it is a crime in every state.
What is the percentage of Hungry children in your nation? The Ministry of Welfare estimates that at least 5% of Freneq children go to bed each day without having eaten at least two meals satisfying a calorie count dependent on age. This is only a problem with the younger set as the meals at the secondary public boarding schools are free. (We estimate that many more children would say they went to bed "hungry" because their parents forced them to eat broccoli when they would rather have chocolate bunnies.)
What is the percentage of bullying in your nation? 10% of Freneq children between the ages of 5-17 report being bullied within the past two weeks, although we think that this is somewhat higher because of an irrational fear that their bully would retaliate (they were never asked who and in any case the survey could not constitute probable cause to investigate a case of bullying).
Can children use e-devices? Yes, although the schools generally have leeway to either limit or prohibit the use of the devices to better aid learning.
Can children use the internet? Yes, although schools do filter "adult" sites. Gaming sites are only filtered during class and study times.
Are children given the same rights as adults (freedom of speech, freedom of religion.. etc.? In Wilson v. Blake-Newton School District, 85 P.C.R. 331, an old case from our Joplinian days, the Paramount Court of Review said that minors have all the rights as an adult insofar as they are consistent with "the reasonable guided efforts to train her to live in society." Id. at 345. This line still informs the jurisprudence on the rights of children in Frenequesta, and has been interpreted as broadly as possible to give minors the widest possible range of rights balanced with interests of socialization. The burden is on the government, school, etc., to show that a limit on a minor's rights is "persuasively related" to her development as a person. (Parents, as private entities, still can limit some rights, such as speech, religion, property, but not to the person (see the abuse and neglect questions)). Voting is still limited to those over 18.
