What is your nation's drinking age?
People are allowed to consume alcohol at the age of 14, under supervision of ceremonies. They may not get intoxicated before age 20 and may not purchase it personally before age 23.
Do children have government curfews?
No.
Can children use currency?
Yes.
Is child neglect legal?
No, if children are neglected they are moved to a new family or a Shogunate facility.
Is child pornography legal?
Punishable by death.
Is child abuse legal?
Extremely illegal.
What is the percentage of Hungry children in your nation?
0%
What is the percentage of bullying in your nation?
Extremely low, the social system is built up around cooperation, local competetion and other activities to discourage bullying. Assisting others with less strength of ability, helping them succeed, gives several benefits in relation to evaluations and tests.
Can children use e-devices?
Yes.
Can children use the internet?
Yups.
Are children given the same rights as adults? (freedom of speech, freedom of religion.. etc)
No, children "trained" to be adults by their parents and through the system. Several interviews, tests and observations through time until the age of 23, help shape the children into adulthood.

What is your nation's drinking age?
Strictly speaking the Confederation bans any restrictions on what any person can or cannot buy, however many Republics do have (unchallenged) laws on the books regulating such things, typically children are invited to drink with their families around 14, though bars, stores and restaurants often refuse them service until they are 16. Most laws that do regulate it tend to base the age of purchase around 16 with some setting different ages for beer & wines to liquors & spirits.
Do children have government curfews?
No. Heavens, no. Such a thing would be impossible to justify constitutionally.
Can children use currency?
Yes. Of course, a child that isn't making their own money (through odd jobs and "little businesses" i.e. selling flo) by 12 is usually looked on as odd.
Is child neglect legal?
No. Though the formal systems in place vary from place to place. Confederation law (which applies to citizens and freemen alike) stipulates that children are wards of their parents under an explicit expectation of care, if another party is concerned (including the child themselves) in their welfare and disputes that level of care they can bring legal case against the parents for his freedom from their guardianship. Where that child will go after being released is dependent on the sober opinion of the courts. Often they are taken into custody by other family, but if they are not present or capable, there are many religious or charitable institutions (as well as the venerable guild societies) dedicated to caring for them and seeking their adoption by more suitable guardians, some republics also offer child placement systems alike to modern "foster care".
Is child pornography legal?
The legality of possession is variable. Child exploitation and the production of child pornography is punishable by Confederation law, one of the few such criminal laws that the Confederation actively requires of all members, with strict requirements for the punishment of offenders (often they are confined to prison for much of the rest of their lives while paying off a life-time debt to the exploited child). However in strict terms the distribution and possession of cannot be made illegal constitutionally. That doesn't stop many Republics from ejecting and ostracizing those found to possess it however, but it does mean a freeman is technically free to do so.
Is child abuse legal?
Different republics have different definitions of "child abuse" though exploitation of children for sexual and economic gain is entirely forbidden. Corporal punishment however is legal in many Republics although to varying degrees, and it's usage is relatively low. As with the above, under the Confederation's "Samaritan Law" a citizen may appeal to the welfare of a child (or similarly disadvantaged person) as though he were their own ward, and the child too may appeal for protection from their guardians through similar law. If such abuse is proved then the process is similar to child neglect.
What is the percentage of Hungry children in your nation?
Likely near 0%, though it is hard to track in an anarchic nation such as ours. The strong presence of religious and charitable institutions dedicated to the care of children and the poor, as well as a culture of community that generally does not permit people to turn a blind eye to a hungry neighbour, provides us with sufficient evidence that our nation cares for every child that it can. With that said, it's also fair to say that within an anarchic free society like ours, there are some people who willingly distances themselves even to the point of starvation, and that children are sometimes among them. Fortunately these are rare cases indeed.
What is the percentage of bullying in your nation?
There is no reasonable way this metric could be measured, few schools are required to report incidents of "bullying" to any government agency and the definition of bullying is far too nebulous for a single answer. To answer in the best of our abilities, the Mercatorum culture is one which generally discourages bullying and provides outlets for both victims and perpetrators. Most schools are in located within the same habitation complexes as their parents, and a strong sense of community means everyone tends to know who is acting out and why. Mores of forgiveness, acceptance and peaceful coexistence also generally discourage bullies, as does a strong culture of martial fitness and standing up to abuse and tyranny. Many a bully has found his comeuppance from a rag tag band of their abused victims. So long as it remains playful and non-aggressive in nature, this sort of rough and tumble response is encouraged.
Can children use e-devices?
Yes. Subject of course to reasonable restrictions from their parents. In schools they are often the primary means of testing and classroom engagement.
Can children use the internet?
Yes. Again subject to the above.
Are children given the same rights as adults? (freedom of speech, freedom of religion.. etc)
Children are wards of their parents, to that extent they are subject to much more control than would otherwise be considered politically acceptable for a republic to enforce on it's citizens. Their freedom to travel, speak and act as they would is reasonably restricted to the guidance and protection of their parents, their rights with in a republic are derived from their parents rights. With that said, children are wards only in so far as they choose to remain so. A child who has been the victim of abuse or simply feels they are not free with their parents can leave, and in some scenarios even become emancipate from their parents. In these cases, the child retains the citizenship rights bestowed on their parents usually until 18, which gives them full rights to all constitutional freedoms.

A recent survey conducted by the University of Neue Bayreuth Department of Sociology that 15% of Freneq youth age 7-18 say that they are "very satisfied" with -- oh, we see, you wanted us to fill out the poll.

What is your nation's drinking age? 18-21 depending on the state.

Do children have government cufews? Yes, many states require that persons under 11 or species equivalent may not be outside their homes without a parent or guardian after 22:00, and those between 12-17 be may not be outside their school dormitories without a parent, guardian, or educator (as part of an official school trip) after 23:00. But the actual rules depend on the state.

Can children use currency? Technically, no, as minors cannot enter into contracts without a parent or guardian. But the Freneq common law has really only limited this to more serious purchases or employment contracts (and child labor laws already take care of most of the latter), and very little is stopping kids from using their pocket change to purchase their lunches or the top pop hit off of Ripway's or HighLife.

Is child neglect legal? Oh no. We did away with most parent-child immunities/privileges long ago. It's also a crime in every state.

Is child pornography legal? No. The interests in protecting children from exploitation far outweigh any supposed artistic merit to such productions.

Is child abuse legal? No. As in neglect, we did away with most parent-child immunities/privileges long ago, the only remaining one being the use of reasonable discipline (which can include spanking, although many courts are starting to become more skeptical of it. Confining a child to a room or area for a period of time is generally considered to be reasonable discipline.). And it is a crime in every state.

What is the percentage of Hungry children in your nation? The Ministry of Welfare estimates that at least 5% of Freneq children go to bed each day without having eaten at least two meals satisfying a calorie count dependent on age. This is only a problem with the younger set as the meals at the secondary public boarding schools are free. (We estimate that many more children would say they went to bed "hungry" because their parents forced them to eat broccoli when they would rather have chocolate bunnies.)

What is the percentage of bullying in your nation? 10% of Freneq children between the ages of 5-17 report being bullied within the past two weeks, although we think that this is somewhat higher because of an irrational fear that their bully would retaliate (they were never asked who and in any case the survey could not constitute probable cause to investigate a case of bullying).

Can children use e-devices? Yes, although the schools generally have leeway to either limit or prohibit the use of the devices to better aid learning.

Can children use the internet? Yes, although schools do filter "adult" sites. Gaming sites are only filtered during class and study times.

Are children given the same rights as adults (freedom of speech, freedom of religion.. etc.? In Wilson v. Blake-Newton School District, 85 P.C.R. 331, an old case from our Joplinian days, the Paramount Court of Review said that minors have all the rights as an adult insofar as they are consistent with "the reasonable guided efforts to train her to live in society." Id. at 345. This line still informs the jurisprudence on the rights of children in Frenequesta, and has been interpreted as broadly as possible to give minors the widest possible range of rights balanced with interests of socialization. The burden is on the government, school, etc., to show that a limit on a minor's rights is "persuasively related" to her development as a person. (Parents, as private entities, still can limit some rights, such as speech, religion, property, but not to the person (see the abuse and neglect questions)). Voting is still limited to those over 18.

Can children use currency: Yes
Is child neglect legal: No
Is child pornography legal: Depends. Under 18's, 18-21 year olds and over 21's all have different "sexual bands" Under 18's may not sleep with an over 21 year old and vice versa. 18-21 year olds may sleep with anyone With express and explicit permission. The pronography industry is regulated heavily to avoid abuse or maltreatment amongst its participants

What is your nation's drinking age?
16 to consume alcohol, 18 to purchase it.

Do children have government curfews?
If a child is found to be wandering the streets late at night the police will consider it to be highly suspicious and take the child into protective custody and investigate why they were outside at that hour.

Can children use currency?
Yes

Is child neglect legal?
No, the police will take neglected children into protective custody and in prosecute the neglectful parents. The children will then be fostered out to another family or raised in a government creche. (we have a large cloning program so we have a well established system for rearing large numbers of children to be well balanced and educated adults without parents)

Is child pornography legal?
No, it is considered to be statutory rape and as such a capital crime.

Is child abuse legal?
No, and it is considered to be an aggrivating factor on top of the usual assault and battery charges that are applied in cases of child abuse. (aggravated crimes get the maximum sentence, which in this case is 10 years per offence)

What is the percentage of Hungry children in your nation?
Less than 0.0001%, basic food is provided free of charge to all citizens, so outside of the extremely rare cases of abuse it is unknown.

What is the percentage of bullying in your nation?
Around 1% self discipline and honor taught to children from a very young age , and bullying the weak is dishonorable.

Can children use e-devices
yes. electronic games seem to be a favorite.

Can children use the internet
Yes, but some content may be age gated because of the content classification system.

Are children given the same rights as adults (freedom of speech, freedom of religion.. etc.)
Broadly speaking yes, but freedom of Religion only really applies once the child is capable of formulating a rational explanation of their beliefs, until then the education system ensures that they are given a broad overview of all religions to ensure that they are able to make a choice about which religion they want to follow or if they don't want to follow any of them.

And freedom of speech applies to children the same as it applies to adults.

What is your nation's drinking age?
The legal drinking age in the Reich is 14. This is the age that live combat scenario training begins for the youth in the academies. The training is very close to actual combat and is very stressful, so we allow the youth to consume alcohol to wind down.
Do children have government curfews?
Yes. All Youths are to report back to the academies at 2100 hours where their section leaders run accountability before they hit the racks.
Can children use currency?

Is child pornography legal?
Absolutely not. Any person guilty of such a heinous crime will be publicly executed.
Is child abuse legal?

Non-existent.
Can children use e-devices?

No. While we don't have such rights as free speech and all that nonsense, youths do not have the same liberties while in the academies.

"Childhood" in itself is a concept largely alien to the Sidh society, given how Sidhae are manufactured ("grown" being a technically more appropriate term) rather than born and raised. This in turn does away with a number of issues found in human societies, such as legal age or children's rights.

The vague equivalent to childhood for a Sidh is the period spent in the progenitory vats known as "Dreamtime", from the Dreamtime neuro-simulation software used to program young Sidhae. The Dreamtime is essentially a virtual reality not unlike the fictional Matrix, where the young Sidhae acquire and test knowledge and learn to interact with the world, much like human children would learn in the real world.

Newly awakened Sidhae, who have been activated after reaching completion, can be easily recognized by their older compatriots by their insatiable, child-like curiosity and energy, in their behaviour being comparable to human teenagers. These "younglings", as they are referred to for their first few years, are initially given a relaxed treatment for minor transgressions by the authorities, which recognize that their mischievous deeds are the product of youthful hot-headedness and ignorance. Being already aware of the social expectations, they soon learn to rein themselves in and conform to the standards expected of them (or are otherwise made to conform).

Overall, a young Sidh spends his or her first few years working a menial job assigned by the authorities, exploring the world and learning one's place in it.

In keeping with the things they have been taught during the Dreamtime, Sidh younglings often demonstrate fanatical and uncritical enthusiasm for the Word and Way, eager to assert themselves as good and proper members of society, and are therefore often seen at the forefront of anti-human pogroms or flag-waving processions of patriotic fervor. With age, they generally learn to temper the expression of their patriotic sentiments to more modest forms. Younglings are also more prone than others to get involved in fights with other Sidhae, owing both to their youthful energy and zeal, and to their innate desire to compete and prove themselves. The latter habit is usually cured after a few painful encounters with a more experienced Sidh that shows them their proper place.

Overall, a young Sidh's happiness depends largely on how quickly and effectively can he adapt and integrate into his society, accepting the duties and responsibilities placed upon him. Young Sidhae enjoy the same rights and privileges as their older compatriots, and are expected to fulfill the same obligations and duties to the same degree as older Sidhae. The sooner a youngling shapes up to live up to those expectations, the happier his early life will be.

---

As for human children and youths, no regulation pertaining to them exists whatsoever in Imperial law, the offspring of humans being their own concern. The treatment of human children therefore depends solely on what their community in general is willing to tolerate.

One exception to this is the law specifying that no human may convert before the age of 20, the biological age to which young Sidhae are grown. At this age, humans are considered mature and responsible enough to understand the seriousness of their choice and be ready to accept the responsibilities that come with adopting the Sidh lifestyle. It is also a matter of practical convenience, since they will have to be installed with a full set of standard augmentations at once, rather than gradually like born Sidhae are.
Freedom doesn't mean being able to do as one please, but rather not to do as one doesn't please.

A fool sees religion as the truth. A smart man sees religion as a lie. A ruler sees religion as a useful tool.

The more God in one's mouth, the less in one's heart.
