EXTRA HISTORY:
Social Media sites in Eeri are a relatively new concept since their inception in the mid 2000s. Eeri's first homegrown Social Site was known as Connect.Eeri a small experimental website created by a handful of students in the University of Mabinogi Digital Media class. Initially the site was small and mostly used around college and university campuses but soon went public. Connect.Eeri grew quickly in popularity among younger kids who were more in tune with increasing and ever changing technology, however suffered a major failure, following the abduction and murder of 13 year old, Samara Green who was lured from her home by someone she met on Connect.Eeri. Her murder prompted the passing of The Social Media Regulation Act (also known as SaMaRA or Samara's Law) in 2007 which prohibited the use of Social Media sites by persons under 18 and required heavy monitoring by government officials as well as media administrators. This decision bankrupted Connect.Eeri and had most of its assets sold off to foreign investors. Efforts have been made to repeal or amend Samara's Law but none have been successful.
