Christmas advertising, a form of commercialisation of this supposed holiday, is frowned upon by both Catholic and Orthodox religious communities in the area and seldom do they appear, though if there are any they usually start in mid-December (due to the area's Christmas, using Julian calendar, falling on January).

What's especially odd is that the pagan-influenced Christian holiday of Krampusnacht has gained popular support in the Merish Isles, despite the low Christian population of the Isles.
