When does Christmas advertising start in your nation?

Postby Vallermoore » Mon Nov 30, 2015 8:11 pm

Apart from Advent Calendars, which can be advertised from late November, Christmas advertising on TV and radio is only allowed from the 15th to the 24th of December and stores/radio stations can only play Christmas music on those days.(radio stations can play Christmas music on the 25th and 26th too.)

Never. There are no Christians in our nation.

We celebrate Winter Solstice instead of Christmas, but its pretty similar. Advertisement usually begins 2 weeks before the winter solstice.

Mid November.

The Filipino community here starts it in September, and it's gaining popularity fast.

Christmas in Bedemslavia still retains much of its religious and family-gathering elements and has not devolved into a commercial tool yet. Christmas advertising, a form of commercialisation of this supposed holiday, is frowned upon by both Catholic and Orthodox religious communities in the area and seldom do they appear, though if there are any they usually start in mid-December (due to the area's Christmas, using Julian calendar, falling on January).

It doesn't. It would be in violation of the freedom from religion clauses of the Charter of Rights and anti-proselytization laws. Also incredibly rude.

Krampusnacht is serious business in the Merish Isles. Preparation starts around October First, and despite the holiday being on December 5th, people still keep decorations and themes up until at least early January.

What's especially odd is that the pagan-influenced Christian holiday of Krampusnacht has gained popular support in the Merish Isles, despite the low Christian population of the Isles.

No Christmas, eh?? Do you at least have Krampusnacht?? December just isn't the same without Krampusnacht.

Officially the council of judges who controls the church to a point states that advertising for the Christmas season can start the day of Thanksgiving or on Black Friday but some shops and big box stores have after Christmas advertisements in January and even some but very rarely advertise early Christmas savings or deals

Traditionally, Christmas advertising in Gandoor starts in mid-November.

It must be stated, however, that less than 2% of our population is Christian, so Christmas generally has no religious aspects to it here. It's not even officially recognized as a holiday by the government (25 December is still a public holiday, but it's considered one of the ten general public holidays spread throughout the year).

While Shalottes have a festival at the start of the Shalotte year (the date of which corresponds to 1st November on the Gregorian calendar), as well as a celebration on the winter solstice, there are no Christians in the nation, thus no Christmas. Even if there were, the lack of developed economy and no media industry to speak of means that it would be unlikely for any advertising to accompany the date.

It starts near the end of November shortly after independence celebrations. Doesn't get too bad though. Our business are structured differently so there's no rush to sell at the end of the year.

Thankfully, It is currently socially unacceptable to mass market for Christmastide in Narland. Springery sometimes called Fruyerspitz are two full weeks used for holiday leave spent at home that start on the last full week of April where shopping and marketting accelerate. Advertising starts after Resurrection Sunday (Easter).

May 1st (May Day/VC Day--Victory over Communism) is the equivalent of USA's Black Friday.
May 8th (Friedrich August von Hayek Day) is the equivalent of their Cyber-Monday.

Christmas advertising begins on Advent Sunday in the Sun Lands. And since everyone else decided to be political about it. Proper religious celebration of the feast day is held throughout the country.

There is no specific time, due to Foodini's dictators varying views on when it should start. The average however, is late November to mid-December, ending a few days before Christmas.

Advertising is not really legal, but people still do it. Christmas advertising begins on the beginning of Advent (November 29 this year). The Christmas season, however, is officially opened on Thanksgiving, after the government dinner is over. It closes on January 5, and all twelve days of Christmas are national holidays.

Aside from having religious holidays as national holidays being illegal, Christmas is celebrated by a minority of humans within the Domain. The closest holiday celebrated is Hearth's Warming Day, December 18, which celebrates the founding of the country the Domain succeeded. Advertising usually begins the week after Charter Day, December 5, which celebrates the founding of the Domain itself.
