So, the plot of the story:
World war three took place, the world fell into chaos with the use of WMD's, orbital weapons, and weather weapons. Years later, humanity crawls out from the rubble and rebuilds, and so does the old Unionia government whom of which hides in the shadows and looks to reunite not only their country, but the world under their views which has changed radically, and it's your job to either prepare the countries to defend themselves from Unionia, or destabilize the countries further and let Unionia stomp all over the West. Or, you could just take any alternative you want.

Bio/Backstory- Joshua was born in August 5th, 2075. He was an only child, and lived in Moscow, Idaho. Throughout his childhood, he lived a quiet and peaceful life. He did well enough in school to move onto college. However, instead he joined the HDU marines, due to the war with Rome and China. He was deployed in France. fought in several major battles, and quickly climbed the ranks. By 2099, he retired, and came home. Later, he was given a spot inside one of the Doomsday shelters. He was saved from the nuclear war, and preserved in cryo.
Thirty-three years later, his shelter malfunctioned, releasing him and the inhabitants. As the inhabitants prepared to leave, they were attacked by a raider group. Only a tenth of the inhabitants survived the attack and escaped, including Josh. The group resorted to scavenging for food, water and equipment to survive. However, with little- to-no experience with the new outside world, the survivors were quickly killed off and split apart. Eventually, leaving Joshua alone. He is now alone, lost, and has only limited knowledge of the new environment.
