Culture Shock! (Sunalaya Only)

Culture Shock!!!

Image

It has been commonly thought by the Reason Party and those who observe any part of foreign cultures that though world leaders may think they know how other cultures work, they do not know Zanerian culture, and would not understand it. If a world leader ever stayed in Zanera for four days, it is jested, that they would be broken afterwards. The government of the Technocratic State has decided to organize a four-day event called Culture Shock to test the mettle of world leaders.

It is understood that some may think our culture too much for them to handle, our people, at times, too rowdy. Our attitudes, changing from logical and somewhat serious to jocular and somewhat illogical. Several aspects of our culture are subtle, some of our people blatant.

That is the society, culture, and people of Zanera. The amount of time an outsider spends with a Zanerian depends almost entirely on that person's patience. Do the leader's of the world have patience, or will they anxiously crumble after Day Two in Zanera?

The trip shall begin by the world leaders arriving in time for a small formal dinner party in the Grand Debate Hall hosted by Supreme James Vitchell himself. After the dinner, the world leaders will be driven to a hotel, but afterwards they will have to take mass transportation or walk. Lightly armed guards are allowed, though we would like to point out our quick and efficient law enforcement and first responders, and Zanerians may be willing to help.

On Thursday so begins the second day. World leaders may tour greater Victorion until Thursday night, when many Zanerians make their way to bars and pubs.

If the world leader can still tolerate Zanera, then they may tour Zanera some more on Friday. On Friday night, many Zanerians make their way to dancing clubs.

On Saturday morning, Supreme James Vitchell will hold a breakfast for the remaining leaders, and will send off the leaders with the gift of mead.

And so we begin with the leaders arriving at the airport...

The Everen sisters and Prime Minister Hoelmon touched down in Zaneria seemingly before anyone else. Ymira wore a t-shirt and pants not her usual suit. She even wore one of her Royal necklaces. Her sister wore something similar to Ymira. However both women had cautious faces, they didn't want to seem too excited to be going to a drinking party. Hoelmon, however, seemed like a kid in a candy store, on Christmas with $200 Risugs. He had enough excitement for the 3 Rezuans. Hoelmon flexed his arms as he exited the plane and flashed his dashing smile. Christina and Ymira smiled but didn't seem as happy as others. Christina hated alcohol, she'd joined the Commonwealth Air Force to escape the temptation of parties. Ymira had never been drunk. Behind the royals stood Lt. General Leonart and 6 guards. Even they looked more excited than the royals.

Hoelmon put an arm around each woman's shoulders and pulled them closer "Come guys! It's vacation! WHHHHOOOAAA!!!!" Ymira was shocked. This wasn't the man she'd just planned government functions. Hoelmon changed personalities. Ymira was impressed all the same. Hoelmon said "Alright! Where's our limo?" When Hoelmon donned sunglasses a piece of Christina's old self lit up. Christina put on her own sunglasses and shouted "Rezua's in the house!!!" Ymira rolled her eyes.

Zanera would exude an air of formality, to present the world leaders with what they were usually used to. The limos were formal, as were the limo drivers. Everything in the limo was formal, and had water bottles. The first night in Zanera for the world leaders would be normal, but Thursday night, they would be culture shocked.

The dinner would have no alcohol, the setting would be formal, the dinner well laid out, the food for those with more sophisticated tastes.

And so, the limo driver of the first limo opened the door so that the Rezuans would climb in. Then, the driver would drive them to the Grand Debate Hall, the meeting place of the Reason Party, for the dinner.

President Harrisbur stepped out of his plane with his back to the crowd. He wore business casual and gave a great laugh as he spun around and raised a cast of rum high over his head. His wife poked out, carrying another case of rum. As the cargo hold opened it was revealed that the entire aircraft was filled with Obalrenite Rum. Harrisbur made a big show of taking a shot before entering his limo, guards and wife following behind. All the Oblarenites were energetic, but more importantly, experts at shots. They had come to win.

Chancellor Alexi Golandroviche stood up from his seat on the old beaten-up plane. This event seemed like it'd be a fun game, to see if he in fact could stomach Zanerian culture. He had heard that they can get pretty rowdy sometimes. Stepped off of the plane with his good friend/bodyguard Sergei in tow. Once he was out, he gasped in surprise. This place looked fairly fancy, much nicer than what he expected or was used to. He began to wonder if this place could stomach his culture. Sergei then tapped Alexi's shoulder and handed him a tie which he then put on, despite it's contrast against his rather "informal" clothes.

Ymira hissed under her breath "Nice job Christina, I thought you said this was informal." Christina piped up "I thought it was informal." Her cheeks burned hot with embarrassment. Hoelmon laughed "Ladies, we packed formal clothes. All we have to do is change at the hotel or whatever, chill." Ymira rolled her eyes when Hoelmon said chill. She was very annoyed then people told her to chill out. She couldn't help it if she was uptight. She'd just lost a war. Besides being uptight was who she was...or at least who she'd become. She couldn't change that.

As the limo pulled up to the dinning hall Ymira bolted out her door and slid over the back of the limo so she could open up Hoelmon's door before he could get out to open hers. "My good gentlemen, the door is open." Ymira said as she made a sweeping bow. Hoelmon erupted into laughter Perhaps Ymira could ease up a bit.

Ymira and Christina made a beeline for the Ladies Room. Ymira changed into a gown like the one she wore to the concert in Rhodevus. She even wore her coronation crown. Christina's dress was more of a party dress, knee length, a sparkling black color. Christina wore a tiara that only made her party girl look increase. Ymira could only face-palm when she saw her sister.

The limo driver began the drive into greater Victorion.

At the airport, Zanerian authorities would have to inspect the cases and count them. It was standard procedure, and the numbers and go aheads would be recorded and put into the government's system.

"Wart, I have received word that the Rezuans have arrived, and they include their royalty," said James Vitchell.

"Hm, I didn't expect them to come," said Wart, looking at a platter of slightly undersized meat patties.

Ymira smiled as greeted the Zanerians. She said hello to Wart first, curious if he'd call her "Mir" or her proper name. She then greeted the supreme and handed him a bottle of Rezuan mead that was somthing special. Ymira spoke in nearly prefect English "It's a pleasure to be here. Let's just not make it too much of one." She smiled at that last bit to show she was joking. Hoelmon was right behind her now in a elegant suit "The honor is all mine gentlemen...and I don't share." He looked ridicious with his sunglasses on.

Queen Diana and Princess Sierra stepped out of their plane, through the walkway into the airport. Sierra, wearing a formal business suit, with her knife in her jacket pocket, walked beside Diana. Although Sierra preferred suits over dresses, she did wear small earrings and a very decorative necklace, which hung low on her. Her hair was let loose, flowing over her shoulders. In very direct contrast, Queen Diana wore a formal sleeveless dress, with long earrings and a shorter necklace. Her hair, unlike Sierra's was tied up in a neat ponytail, a silver flower pin was held tightly in her hair.

"It is so nice to be out of Rhodevus!" Sierra exclaimed to Diana. "It felt like forever being stuck in there with no vacation time."
"Agreed completely," Diana replied. "So, do you think the Zanerian culture is as strange as they would have us believe?"
"Nah," Sierra waved it off. "It can't be worse than the Red District. The people there are CRAZY!"
"Ya, but after meeting some of the Zanerian leaders, they do have a very wild streak, especially in front of guests."
"I guess we'll just have to try and stay the entire time!"

The two women waited for the Zanerian officials to meet them, or for a Zanerian Limo driver to pick them up.

"I believe you would like to take a look at this, Wart," said Supreme James Vitchell, giving Wart the bottle of mead.

"Mead from another country?! All I hear about is our own mead. Probably because it is the best," said Wart, looking at the world leaders that had just entered the room. "Ya know, you don't need those on. The lights will brighten or dim smoothly according to the amount of sunlight, so you don't need sunglasses."

Wart then got out a corkscrew and started to open the bottle. "Welcome to Zanera. Please take a seat anywhere you like. We hope you have an excellent evening, and an excellent stay overall," said Supreme James Vitchell.

President Mãnu Paule paced his private jet back and forth, with his mind on other things. He was a bit sad, not only were domestic events in his nation not going smoothly, but also his personal life was ripping with sorrow and hate. He sat himself back into his chair, sighing and quietly watching the jet land from the Latin Corentian nation to Zanera, a nation Lispanola has had little contact with besides trade.

"Alegrar-se," his personal assistant said with a smile in Portuguese. "Coisas vão ser melhor." she finished with a tap on the back. Paule nodded in agreement, taking this as a vacation from life. As soon as she left though, he fell back into a trance of thoughts, his mind cluttered with various things until the plane finally touched ground.

"Vamos para a limusina agora," his only security guard told Paule. He was his favorite guard, one whom Paule had formed a close relationship with. Again, Paule just nodded. As they walked out of the plane together, the guard, known as Adriano, broke the silence. "Está bem?" he asked. "Sim," replied Paule with a nod, although he didn't truly feel that great. They waited outside the airport for a limo to escort them.

With a large beer jug in-hand, Dean R. Rusk made his way through the crowd of the airport. His wife, Annemarie Rusk, had specifically iterated on how much the Zanerian people loved their drinking and fun. Dean had smiled at her, and asked in a mature voice if he could 'get loose of the goose' this time. He recalled all of this as he held his beer jug close, almost tasting the alcohol that would soon be flowing through his dry-veins that ached for being a little drunk. The President wore a big grin on his face, nodding to many people he passed.

He certainly was ready for what was going to ensue.

Ymira smiled even brighter when she saw the Rhodeve limo pulling up. Sierra was the real reason Ymira was in Zanera. She cared more for her lover than politics. Ymira gave her most dashing smile as the Rhodeve pulled up. Ymira opened the door to the limo and gave the Rhodeve a greeeting "I forgot the red carpet but I got the door."

After taking a large swig of straight tequila from a bottle he had packed, Dean threw his hands up in celebration as he waltz out the airport. Waiting for him was an elegant limo, with a driver that was quite eloquent. The driver opened the door for him, and Sir Rusk dived in, laughing and cheering. It had been years since his last night off, and he was just about to the snapping point.

After the Vekalsan leader and company got in, the limo driver shut the door and got behind the steering wheel. He started off for the Grand Debate Hall.

Dinner Room in Grand Debate Hall

The dinner room was a room with a long table and three doors going into the room. The wall facing outward was a plate of glass looking out over a long street in Victorion, at the end which was an apartment building. The table was 90 degrees to the window, and on the other side of the room across from the window was a door in the centered in the middle of the wall, where the guests were to come in. Two doors were near the window, one on each side.

"The Rhodeve have showed up, that must mean that the rest are showing up," said Supreme James Vitchell to no particular person.

When the limo jolted to a stop outside of a large, picturesque building that stood autonomous from the others. The President of Vekalse, Dean R. Rusk, hopped out of the limo, and tipped the driver. Quickly, Dean shoved his tequila and beer jug into his bag, which hung on his shoulder like a monkey. In a fast-paced set of hops, the man made his way up the stairs to the entrance, a grin remaining on his face.

There were a few people at preplanned places to point the leaders to the right way, and so the first person showed Dean to a set of stairs.

Alexi and Sergei sit in the back of the limo, conversing in Kholodvian.
"Hey boss, you sure you can hold yourself here? Last time-" says Sergei before getting interrupted by Alexi.
"Sergei, that stuff was laced and you know it. Have a little faith in your ol' chancellor."
Alexi then turns to the driver and tries talking in broken Zanerian. "Car Pilot, when is stopping?"
The driver looks back to him and responds, "Now, actually," as he pops the door, "have a nice night sirs."
The two men step out and begin casually walking towards the entrance.
