Format: This tournament will use pots, will be divided into 8 groups of 7 each. Will be a 56-team format and a single round robin format, with all games being played in Québec and San José Guayabal (Groups splitted between both nations).

The Top 2 teams per group will advance into the playoffs after qualifying stage, where then they'll be seeded using 1-16 seedings. The playoffs will be a best-of-three bracket, with the finals being best-of-five.

How we will produce results? Xkoranate's basketball formula will be used for scorination, as it has been in all recent IBCs. The RP Bonus will be cumulative, generous, non-degrading and will emphasize quality over quantity while remaining fair to all styles. We feel that an especially generous RP bonus is necessary for the IBC due to the RP-dependent nature of the tournament and the need for getting RPers interested, as well as massive ranking gaps between the top and the rest.

The Tie-breakers: Tie-breaks are, in order, H2H, H2H PD, H2H PF, Overall PD, Overall PF - if the tie cannot be resolved with the above, we will solve it at the old school way, using a coinflip to break the tie.

Cut-off Timing: For the Groups A-D (Quebecois Half - Scorinated by SJG) the cut-offs will be at 21:00-23:30 Eastern Summer Time (01:00-03:30 GMT), while the Groups E-H (Guayabalense Half - Scorinated by RKQ) the cut-off will be at 20:00-22:00 Eastern Summer Time (0:00-02:00 GMT)

Introduction

The Kingdom of San José Guayabal, or also known as Guayabal or simply called SJG is a culturally diverse nation, inhabited by at least thirty ethnic minority groups and five other major ethnic groups, forming a bond of brotherhood between each group, giving to the nation a strong reputation of unity and brotherhood even in the most difficult moments and being politically speaking a stable nation working into the frame of a Constitutional Monarchy. The ancestral heritage given by Spanish colonizers and a mixture of innovation and creativity have shown positive effects in this vibrant nation located in the southernmost corner of Esportiva. In this basic information guide is presented important information that will help the tourist (Regardless of nationality, sex, species, religion, etc.) to have a pleasant stay in San José Guayabal, with phrases and tips that will be much useful.

History

Originally, San José Guayabal was inhabited by a tribe from the South Pole, which has been called "Eskimos" and which our country still live to this day, beginning more than 2,600 years before Christ. Eskimos settled in small communities on the shores of the south coast of the nation, developing solitarily without contact with most members of other ethnic groups. The economy was based on hunting and selling bearskins for the winter season, or the planting and harvesting of grapes or apples during the spring time. The system of government was nonexistent and remained so for a long time, where the Eskimos were the majority before a new ethnic group in the center of the country, which was the group of "Wára-Wára" who ended up being called "Native Guayabalenses.”

Many centuries later, nothing changed regarding the ethnic background of the population, because the Eskimos maintained a social domain but now much stronger than ever through a central government called "Naalakkersueriaaseq" or simply "Naala", consisting of a governor who tended to meet the role of chief and spiritual guide of the nation. Note that they abandoned their nomadic practices and decided to establish around the "Great Lake" now called "Metropolitan Lake", about 230 km from what is now San Salvador, the capital.

We are going back to closest date to today, specifically in the 14th century BC, a new ethnic group came from the Northern regions which, specifically from Andarica, The Spaniards who colonized our country with the valorous mission of Explorer Luis Barbosa (Who’s considered as founder of the nation) and transformed it into an important cultural spot for Esportiva then. The discovery of new cities and new cultures was almost unstoppable, the isolated Eskimos decided to merge into a new society, full of opportunities for everybody. And that hasn’t stopped yet, because more groups came to stay in our nation, coming from the north the Finns, Swedes, Russians and Anglo-Saxons, creating a multicultural society in a big nation, who had a strong sense of unity and brotherhood since the early beginning despite the racial differences.

In the last 200 years, San José Guayabal has suffered drastic changes into his history and social system, being caused by political reasons, who led to three civil wars (1989, 2024, 2047) where the main factor was the wish of liberty and prosperity from a diverse but united nation with strong wishes of success in international issues as business, industries and more specially peace and freedom.

Today, San José Guayabal is a nation that is rising from the ruins by leaps and bounds after the most recent and devastating civil war that put a stop to the tyrannical communist regime of then President Miguel Serrano. In an industry dominated by petroleum and energy resources such as shale or subtraction of natural gas in conjunction with a strong and increasing momentum of the touristic industry and the micro technology based economy (Chips, micro-chips, etc.) are transforming the nation into what people have dreamed of, a country of advanced seeking for a better future and to overcome adversity in order to become more powerful and provide a better standard of life for its inhabitants.

Geography, Climate and another natural phenomena

San José Guayabal is a continental nation, located in the continent of Inferiore Minore, Esportiva. Having a great number of surrounding islands, an 85% of The Esportivan Antartic Territory, doing a great combination of climate and geographical features.

The continental area is very irregular, mountainous and a high number of volcanoes, being mountainous in the west, south-central, north-central and eastern containing long plains and steppes in the central area (also called "The Heart") of the nation, The Alpine Belt also called "Cordillera Del Fuego" runs from the border with Estope and Wednesday Evening in the far west to the border with Gregoryisgodistan in the east, forming a branch towards the south coast of the nation. The eruptions are less frequent in recent years, the last eruption was 12 years ago and the possibilities of a new eruption event occur is very minimal. This has generated an abundance of rocky material from the process of cooling of the lava, a very popular material used for gardens and decoration or houses.

Notable exceptions to the mountainous terrain of San José Guayabal are the Central Valley and the Northern Steppe. "El Valle" is a flat land that does not exceed 600 meters above sea level and extends over much of the Lempa River; the soil is very fertile for growing grain and other agricultural products such as corn, beans, and sugarcane, and also is home of the biggest hydroelectric dams in the entire region of Esportiva.

The North Steppe is the most arid area of the territory, dominated by its large sand dunes, this region has very little rainfall throughout the year and extreme weather in the summer, easily exceeding 42°C at noon and decreasing the 9°C at the night, fauna it’s minimal there except for scorpions and some lizards.

The climate of San Jose Guayabal is generally quite predictable because there are four distinct seasons being these winter (June 21 to September 20), spring (September 21 to December 20), summer (December 21 to March 20) and the autumn (March 21-June 20) while in Rossana (overseas colony) the condition is different because of its location in the northern hemisphere being the winter between December and March, spring between April and June, the summer between July and September while autumn is from October to December. It's very rare to see a non-corresponding to the station in our country climate, with stable climates for each season and very few flaws in the service of climate information in the news and newspapers because the monitoring systems of the climate and the almost obvious weather patterns.

Inwe talk about natural phenomena, we can find three, the most catastrophic ones are the earthquakes, a very common event in the nation due to its volcanic activity and its location between two major tectonic plates, the Southern Plate and the Inferiore Plate. This makes our nation quite prone to seismic events place but do not panic. The nation has high construction standards regarding the prevention of seismic events and is mandatory that each building has evacuation plans which are placed in visible to make easier the evacuation besides making evacuation drills at least two times for year. Note that at least 45% of citizens are people trained to provide first aid, this being part of the given requirements to complete the Students’ Social Service, required for the graduation of students in the education system.

We now turn to other less lethal phenomena, as are the aurora australis and the migration of geese, spectacular events that attracts lots of people. The aurora australis is a phenomenon that occurs mainly from March to September, while maintaining an appropriate intensity to be seen until the end of December, usually can be seen throughout the country, including northern areas like El Roblar or Metapán. The migrating of geese occurs during September to December, from the Central Valley region they move to the South Pole, then head to the north of Esportiva. These spectacles often see lots of people witnessing the wonders of nature.

Travel

Visiting San José Guayabal is not a very complicated process, as the provisions of international travel are applied for each foreign visitor. International flights usually land at three airports, one for each egion of the country, being the El Roblar International Airport designated to the west, Luis Barbosa Airport in Vladivostok for the central region and San Salvador International Airport to the east, the latter being the most important because of its location in the capital.

On transport and within San Jose Guayabal, we can find many alternatives among these is a rental car, join a tour group to use a minibus, taxi, public bus system, the private mass transportation, the underground (Available in cities over 500,000 inhabitants com) the bullets and domestic flights trains provide easy connectivity between one point and another in the nation, but can mention popular media, low cost and short runs as the tuc tuc and the colloquially called "coaster" (small minibus whose route is fast but to some extent uncomfortable due to the high volume of music and the sound of their mufflers). As mentioned, the transport between different parts of the nation is very easy, even people facilitate travel through the "ride" method, something often practiced by people who made a short trip and bear a considerable burden in order to avoid walk with overload.

Transportation is a very fast method SJG if done especially between cities separated by many kilometers because there is no speed limit on highways, although it is recommended to drive at no more than 140 kilometers per hour.

It’s important to say that you should drive defensively in the roads, especially in the interstate highways, due to the very aggressive driving style of Guayabalenses in general, drive always at your right side and carry an extinguisher, reposition tires, use always your seatbelt and be sure to have your National Driving Authorization or a Multiversal Driving License, failure to do this might cause you high fines with the police or even some time on jail, the fines should be paid at the local police department, in any bank or pharmacy under the “EasyPay” system which can be found in almost every town in the nation.

Culture & Society

Religion

San José Guayabal is a predominantly religious nation since ancient times, presenting a wide variety of thoughts about divinity.

From the very beginning, on he epoch of the Eskimos, prevailed a kind of shamanism mixed with pagan rites in honor of the earth, moon and sun, entities of great importance to the Eskimos because of their dependence on agriculture and sun for planting and harvest of food and other goods for storage in the winter, which was worshiped by the moon and snow, who deserved rest and relaxation afforded to the Eskimos that time.

This Eskimo tradition of worshiping natural phenomena remained for more than 2500 years until the arrival of Spanish colonizers, who spread a new faith, Christianity in an easy way and without shedding innocent blood by religion. The Guayabalenses have been very receptive to the religion without falling into religious fundamentalism and fanaticism, this being a meeting point of unity and for society.

The Catholic branch of Christianity was the most professed in San José Guayabal to the arrival of the ethnic groups of Nordic origin like the Swedes and Finns who are predominantly Protestant, their influence on the people was so great that within two decades (1840- 1860) the percentage of Catholics dropped from 86% to 7%, and Protestantism dramatically increased to 89% of the population said to practice religion mainly based on the three pillars that characterizes San José Guayabal populace as a whole: Unity, Brotherhood and Passion.

Today the trend remains solid, the population is even more liberal than before in terms of tolerance creeds, admitting any theological thinking according to the Constitution of the Republic, severely condemning any act of censorship of religious expression or fundamentalism religious. Notably, church attendance has been increasing in the last seven years, bringing together a large part of the population; the missions of the churches typically perform community works across the nation or even international level people who need it most.

Language

Because being a multicultural nation, many languages are found in San Jose Guayabal, 31 to be precise, of which only five are relevant in their social use and only two are used by the government. At least a basic knowledge of Spanish language is more than useful in our nation but not essential, because 68% of the population has declared Spanish as their first language and 85% admit to have sufficient knowledge of the language. There are also four more languages in which the population has knowledge such as English (spoken by 70% of the population, 12% as their mother tongue), Swedish (spoken by 35% of the population, 4% as mother tongue), Russian (spoken by 26% of the population, 7% as their mother tongue) and Finnish (spoken by 17% of the population, 3% as their mother tongue).

The people of San Jose Guayabal are known regionally for the effort they made to learn new languages, speaking on average three to four languages at an appropriate level for communications with different people, according to them this is essential because knowledge is acquired different cultures and helps to relate to more people in The Multiverse.

Below, a table of English phrases translated into Spanish is presented, in order to have a broader contact with the population or in case of an emergency, which can be very helpful during your stay.

Food & Etiquette

Food in San Jose Guayabal is very diverse, varying due to the presence of different ethnic groups that have imported their culinary culture to our nation, varying by region, and yes, there are dishes that are distinguished from others if we talk about popularity nationwide.

Eating habits in SJG tends to be foods with moderate calories, being mainly meat and some salads that are normally an accompaniment to the main course, where people normally waits for all to start to eat at the same, then they start to eat all at the same time the main course, as tradition, a toast is made by anyone at the table. It is considered impolite to leave food residue on dishes in case you are invited to a house to eat or social activities, is always appropriate offer to wash the dishes and glasses where you ate, this being a gesture of good education and thanks to the host (not always the person that is offered is done, is considered as a simple act of appreciation.)

The typical dish par excellence of San José Guayabal are Pupusas, is a food made from mass shaped like circle, stuffed inside with fried beans, cheese, pork rind, squash, blackberry. This is often accompanied by vegetable tanning and ketchup.
Other main courses are: Tray (Composed of roast beef with barbecue, rice, salad, soup and fries), Quesadillas, Coastal Chops (Cutlet, bathed with barbecue and served with shrimp), Croquettes (breaded meat, accompanied with piece of dough and rice) and Spaghetti. Among the salads are: Paisa salad (lettuce, avocado, omelet, egg, chicken, bacon and corn chips) and the “Mil Cumbres” salad (lettuce, tortilla croutons, chicken, tomato, corn and ranch dressing).

Football Culture

Football in San José Guayabal is the sport that moves the masses, on any day and at any time of day is normal to see children playing football in the streets of residential areas or football academies, the youth guys in the communities playing football in tournaments, or at academies of professional or semi professional teams, adults meet after the workday with peers and then perform matches, as a distraction from work stress and also the elderly and women, who do not hesitate to leave their detention work in order to enjoy the football. Through this we can deduce that as people get involved in football in an active way, so is his passion.

The passion for football is very excessive in our nation, for some it is cultural issue of pride support their team and others, is literally his own "religion" if you want to call it like that, many fans in the stadiums are directed to support his team in an almost unique way, the hostility in the atmosphere and tension is very high, the songs of hate towards the opponent and vice versa are very frequent, flares, pyrotechnics, giant banners to support the team, drums, trumpets and other musical instruments give much color to the organized fans in time of watching the local teams or the National Team, popularly known as "Barras Bravas" are very common, but accidents between the fans are very rare.

Discuss and be contrary to any guayabalense about football topics in public is something that will not be very pleasant, especially if the National Team is playing. In such cases, groups are formed and the riots start against the supporters of another nation, then this gives origin to the riots. Something forbidden by the laws of behavior in stadiums, if the perpetrators are caught by police, be of any nationality, the price to pay is high, from fines of 1,000 Coronas (NS $ 2,000) up to three months in jail, or if fatalities occur.

It is recommended to refrain from displays of hate and mockery against the home crowd, in order to avoid problems of any kind during your stay, note that to enter in the stadiums, fans are not allowed to enter water bottles, umbrellas, sharps, flagpoles or pencils. You can enter flares, banners and musical instruments with previous notice to the police (if you are from an organized “ultra or Barra Brava”), it is important to mention that you can find different food at the stadium, from ice cream to banquets of gourmet food, any kind of drink is available from the typical and highly alcoholic “Chaparro” to typical beers or wines.

ROYAL KINGDOM OF QUEBEC

Transportation

To arrive in Quebec you'll likely just want to fly in to the city that you will be playing in. The 6 cities going to be hosting the tournament, with all of them possessing a major airport. If you insist on arriving via waterways, then there's nothing to worry, as all 3 holds a port able to hold most vessels.

While travelling inside country, there are main methods you can use for this. The railways here isn't as quick as it'd be with other nations(the maximum speed being 225km for the fastest train service), but they are extremely punctual/on-time, popular and frequent(one train per 30 minutes), making it a very cost-effective and attractive option. Quebec does possess a strong auto industry and cars are somewhat prevalent, so you can travel via cars if interested. Flying between those three cities are not recommended as there are not only very few flights, but also there's no need for them.

Lodging

There will be some hotels of high-calibre (at least 4 star ones) available in those cities. However, those 4 cities being medium-sized cities, there will be some issues. The same will not be guaranteed with the visiting fans as there will be mass influx of Quebecois citizens as well, to watch the games. Therefore it is recommended to make reservations 3-4 months ahead of the tournament, in order to guarantee your reservation in the hotels around the city.

If you are still in trouble of finding hotel or motel suites, there will be hotels, motels and other modes of accomodation available at your expense, on towns slightly far away from the venues(50km-100km). For more information please contact Tourism Quebec or for more specific information any tourism agency of the city/cities you'll be off to(OOC: TG The Royal Kingdom of Quebec if you have any questions or so).

Weather

Royal Kingdom of Quebec is located in Temperate and Polar regions, with the cities located in varying degrees of climate zones so all 4 seasons can be experienced each year, but with different extremes. As this tournament is held during the month of June, temperatures will be either around 18-25'C in normal days for all venues but those in Attawapiskat and Iqaluit. For information about how the Summers are like in normal Summer time for them, please look at the venues information. For those visiting Attawapiskat and/or Iqaluit, it's very likely that the snowfall will be extremely frequent. This will not affect the train services, though it'll do more than enough job of freezing people up, as all of the games will be held outdoors.

Languages

There are three official languages in this nation: English, French and Korean. All 3 languages are taught in school curriculum and with great depth, causing most of the population to be at least trilingual. Additionally, in this part of the nation there are some other First Nations languages being recognised as regional languages and are used+learned to great depth in schools, so please note this when you're RPing in Quebec. Most Quebecois you'll meet are extremely polyglot and that will show with way they speak.

When it comes to linguistic status on city that you're RPing on/about, you're more than welcome to TG The Royal Kingdom of Quebec about it.

Money

The national currency of Quebec is Quebecois Dollar, which is fairly expensive. The current exchange rate is $3 NS for 1 Quebecois dollar. With the nation being rich with huge economy, almost everyone will have at least has a good deal of money here. So please don't feel surprised if the products are much more expensive here than back home, excluding alcohol.

Things you'll need in your stay, prices in NS Dollars (NS$) and Quebecois Dollars (Q$)

-Hotel: NS$ 35-400, Q$12-135
-Public transport in the cities: NS$2-$5, Q$0.7-1.7
-Bus transport to different cities: NS$5-50, Q$1.7-17
-Train transport to different cities: NS$6-80, Q$2-28
-Ferry between lakes: NS$5-$12, Q$1.7-4
-Flights between cities: NS$65-150, Q$22-50
-Average cost of food: NS$12-45, Q$4-15
-Sports tickets: NS$60-600, Q$20-200
-Bottle of water: NS$9, Q$3 (Sale of bottled water extremely limited, with public fountains providing very low interest for the people)
-Public phone: NS$1.5 per call, Q$0.5 per call

Cuisine

Quebecois cuisine has evolved through centuries of social and political change. Originating from dominant Korean and elegant French cuisine that came with settlers, as well as materials and existing food of the First Nations living in the area, Quebecois cuisine has evolved through a complex interaction of the natural environment and different cultural trends and is the best mix of it all.

Quebecois cuisine is largely based upon rice, other diverse kinds of grains, vegetables, and meats(in this area moose and caribou, and to rare cases bears). The meals are noted for the number of side dishes (banchan) that accompany steam-cooked short-grain rice. It varies on the personal preferences but often in every meal they eat at least some form of maple syrup, Kimchi and/or bread. Commonly used ingredients include sesame oil, doenjang (fermented bean paste), soy sauce, salt, garlic, ginger, pepper flakes and gochujang (fermented red chili paste). In this part of the nation, fish are caught off the rivers and lakes to be eaten in whatever the way one prefers as well.

Ingredients and dishes vary by region to region, with many. Many regional dishes have become national, and dishes that were once regional have proliferated in different variations across the country.
Meals are regulated by cultural etiquette, which are very hard to follow for even the average Quebecois due to all the processes they take.

TG The Royal Kingdom of Quebec for any questions.

Religion

Quebec is a religiously diverse country, though divided when it comes to dominant regions. In the cities where the World Cup of Hockey will be hosted, First Nations' religions are widely practiced, with Quebecois Catholic Church and Buddhism right behind. Due to these differences, all three levels of Government keeps some separation from any religions, though they still hold some influences in those levels and receive lots of funding. It is also not recommended to argue about politics or religion in Quebec, as political and religious apathy is not known....for most part.

Laws

Culturally and socially, Quebec is in bit of a mix. Another handy chart will be in place to explain some of Quebec's laws in place:

Recreational drugs: Legal, though selling them without licence can lead to up to $10,000 in fines and 5 years in jail.
Hard drugs: Illegal, with punishments up to $50,000 in fines and 15 years in jail for possession and consumption of the drugs
Prostitution: Legal, though people's attitudes about it will be very conservative in this part of the nation
Pornography: Legal, aside from child pornography(applies to any pornographic videos or anything else starring people up to 18 years of age). Possession of child pornography will land you straight in jail for 5 years, while production and distribution of it can lead to potential death sentence. So, don't try it as it's a big no-no.
Legal age for tobacco: Varies (16 in Val d'Or and Rouyn-Noranda, 19 in Churchill and Winnipeg, 18 in rest)
Legal age for alcohol: 16
Maximum BAC to drive: 0.03.
Saying the word 'Coconut': Legal

All the foreign citizens caught under the Federal and/or Provincial law will not be extradited, unless of a special order given by the Emperor, His Imperial Majesty the Jacques IX.

San Llera National Team Roster

Name: San Llera National Basketball Team
Head Coach: Brad Eiffel
Assistant Coaches: Dionis Quoe, Tomas Perrino
Ranking: 23rd
Appearances: 2
Best Finish: Round of 16
Style Modifier: 0
More Info: Here

Coaches
Brad Eiffel - A very young, up-and-coming coach. Led San Llera to two impressive tournaments.
Dionis Quoe - A coaching veteran, who helps counterbalance the inexperience of Eiffel.
Tomas Perrino - Something of a mad scientist. Knows an incredible amount about the sport but can't communicate it very well.

Starting 5
PG Antoni Ferra - 6'4", 210 lbs - 28 years old - Ferra is a defensive nightmare for opposing point guards with his size and length. However, he is incapable of making shots outside of 15 feet from the basket when on offense. Average passer for his position, can rebound very well compared to other point guards.
G Roderic Mieras - 6'1", 190 lbs - 23 years old - Mieras is no longer the youngest player on San Llera's roster, and he has now matured into the player most hoped he would be. He still is a little bit small, preferring to plat shooting guard at just 6'1", and not incredibly large at 190 pounds. Mieras sometimes has trouble guarding larger shooting guards, but he is quick and has good hands for swiping at opposing players. On offense, however, is where he makes his salary. Mieras is an excellent passer and already the best driver on the team. He will torture any defenders who aren't as quick as him, and he shoots well enough to keep them honest.
SF Atualo Vela - 6'8", 230 lbs - 25 years old - The breakout star of the first IBC whilst Ganchana struggled, Vela was, before that tournament, regarded as somebody who was freakishly athletic but not talented enough to keep up. However, he proved his doubters wrong, as he showed an excellent shooting touch and great court vision. Vela is by far the fastest player on the team, and the most athletic, with a 36-inch standing vertical leap. He has also developed shooting and passing skills in the last four years, and will be San Llera's star in this incoming IBC.
PF Carlos Tell - 6'9", 360 lbs - 30 years old - Some years ago, Brad Eiffel speculated that Carlos Tell could become San Llera's best player if he lost some weight. Instead of following this advice, Tell did the opposite, gaining ten pounds since then. Remarkably, at 360 pounds, Tell is still a national team starter. He has excellent post moves and shockingly good shooting ability and speed for his size. With his power, Tell can be a monster on the glass despite his inability to jump more than a few inches. Unfortunately, he still is an awful defender with little mobility.
C Ganchana - 7'0", 240 lbs - 32 years old - The best player on the team entering the first IBC, Ganchana was very disappointing, and now his position as this team's star is in question. He rebounded in the second, but still struggled to find consistency. At 32, his athleticism, which was never his strongest trait, has started to dwindle a little bit. However, his defensive prowess, shooting ability, passing ability, and post ability still remain. When posting up, Ganchana is a nightmare for defenders, with his mixture of power and finesse. On defense, he is also very good, but can't rebound as well as he used to, especially considering that he is constantly nursing a torn ligament. This ligament and his increasing age limit his jumping ability, and he now has to rely on his height to gain an advantage. With more and more 7-footers popping up, this might be a difficult tournament for him.

Bench
G Marco Fuie - 5'9", 180 lbs - 28 years old - Talented, but too short to crack the starting five
G Tomas Bartoli - 6'2", 220 lbs - 27 years old - Classic shooting guard that only shoots. Oddly, is an amazing passer when he tries to pass
G Marco Vas - 6'1", 195 lbs - 18 years old - Not very large or athletic but still by far the best teenager San Llera has to offer with his shooting, ball handling, and smarts
F Xavier Terres - 6'7", 200 lbs - 28 years old - Can shoot but has no athleticism whatsoever
F Lluc Bosch - 6'6", 220 lbs - 29 years old - Very small for his position, makes up for it with an aggressive, sometimes dirty style of play
F Carlo Casanova - 6'9", 240 lbs - 30 years old - Great at three-pointers but can't rebound for his size
C Marti Prior - 6'11", 260 lbs - 29 years old - Excellent all-around offensive player, but is backing up Ganchana

NORTHERN ARMEIA: THE RAVENS.

The North, including Barrier Island, has been selected to represent Armeia in the IBC, strengthening an already strong roster with players from other regions.

NAME: Northern Armeia National Team

NICKNAMES: The Ravens, the Selection, The Wildcats

RANKINGS: Unranked

UNIFORMS(the crest isn't on the mockups but it's the flag from my iiwiki page):

http://i.imgur.com/Xj6j9bM.png

http://i.imgur.com/QtxBuyR.png

COACH: Bradley Jager - 29 year old innovative coach from Forge, one of the top basketball programs in Armeia. A former college coach, he's an expert at getting players to buy into his system, and a good motivator. He previously coached the extremely prestigious Loftus College to two national titles, and before that he coached mid major program Songhaven Academy to the national title game, where his team shocked heavy favorites Scarbrough State. Jager got into coaching straight out of college, after discovering that his sickle cell condition would make it impossible for him to play professionally, after a four year career with Cora City University.

OTHER STAFF:

Mile Karlsson/Assistant Coach/50/M/I.K Cora City

Kamilla Matija/Offensive Coordinator/37/F/Atlas

Janicka Schwinghammer/Head Physio/48/F/Terrum Stars

Zikmund Pavlovic/Head Trainer/60/M/Braves B.C

PLAYERS:

Roster
Top Five:
PG Samuel Ateljevic/20/M/University of Loftus / 6'1 /135 - Hardly a top guard, from the smaller team in Loftus, but he knows how to get the job done. More athletic then skilled, he's a decent passer but a good slasher and rebounder for his size. His best skill is his defense, and he's considered the number one defender for outside the paint. The vice captain of the team.

SG Alois Feldt /17/M/Loftus College / 6'4 / 150 - The youngest starter, Alois has a chip on his shoulder, and he's known for being a top scorer on every team he's played on. Averaging 29 PPG for Loftus College last season, Feldt won the Golden Net award for the top scorer in the nation.

SF Tori Gunnarsson/19/F/B.C Atlas/6'11/189 - A recent transfer from the Terrum Stars for 19 million dollars, Gunnarsson is the sister of Armeian MMA fighter Anja Gunnarsson. The most athletic one on the national team, she's something of a prodigy, averaging 25 points and 14 rebounds per game at the small forward position in the Armeian Basketball Superleague.

PF Werner Honza/26/M/Forge/7'1/224 - A real heavyweight, Honza brings physicality to the front line with his height and size. He averaged 15 rebounds a game last season with Forge and coming back from a ACL injury, he looks to keep his place in the starting lineup.

C Borijov Pulkrabek/31/M/B.C Atlas/7'4/240 - A fan favorite because he grew up in central Terrum, Pulkrabek is the top inside defensive player for the squad. He won championships with Atlas last season and with Songhaven before that, now his main goal is to win something internationally. The captain of the team.

Reserves:

G Stefan Tifft/19/M/Terrum University/5'11/129 - Extremely quick but with little technical skills

SF Keyetan Strand/30/M/I.K Cora City Basket/6'6/155 - Would start at SG if he was younger, but Alois outplayed him as of recent. Good reserve scorer.

G Edvard Meier/21/M/Redtown College/5'9/120 - A standout at Redtown, a mid major college, this is Meier's first call up. Good passer who needs to work on scoring.

SF Vera Greenberg/27/F/B.C Atlas/6'4/148 - Yet another member of the Atlas organization, Vera is back on the team after a pretty gruesome broken leg injury benched her for a season and a half. Used to be a excellent defender but that was a year and a half ago.

F/C Alex Raske/18/M/Forge/6'8/200 - A future prospect for the center position, Raske is here to watch and learn from the others.

PG/SG Tamara Asker/19/F/Scarbrough State/5'6/125 - Fast enough to be a sprinter, and a lockdown defender. Unfortunately there's major chemistry issues with her as she's considered an extremely dirty player, and, in the words of one of her high school teammates, she's a 'cheeky little b****'. Was the starting point guard last season but got benched after a big fight with the old manager.

Banijan National Basketball Team

Banija plays an up-tempo style of basketball. They go deep into the bench, using a 10 man rotation that gets everybody decent minutes. They have often been known to play in units in some games, subbing out the entire starting 5 early in the game if they go down quickly. Head Coach Dejan Covic from IBC 17 was fired, after going 4-4 in that tournament. Assistant Igor Dozet was hired, and they play the same style of up tempo basketball, as Igor Dozet emphasizes giving 110% 100% of the time. He says not to worry about energy, as he is known to subsitute often to give his players energy.

While this team is known for shooting 3s and fast break style points, they are definitely not known for their defense. They like to play a 2-3 zone defense, though many say that they do not close down as well as they should on perimeter shooters in the zone defense, which leaves them prone to 3s. They are also prone to allowing a lot of offensive rebounds, as they have not rotated well enough in this complicated zone defense. Their strength is high-scoring games, and once again, their weakness is having to make defensive stops and defensive rebounds. All in all, there is no lead that is safe when this team is playing, whether they are down because of their ability to score points in bunches and have an effective full court press, or if they are up due to their inability to close out on rebounds.

The depth chart is the same from the 17th International Basketball Championships.

Cruenatian International Basketball Team Roster

Postby Cruenatia » Mon Aug 17, 2015 7:20 pm

Name: Cruenatia National Basketball Team
Head Coach: Jeremy Mccoy
Assistant Coaches: Joshua Smith, Daniel Koslov
Nickname: Wolf Pack
Ranking: Unranked
Style Modifier: +3

Coaches

Jeremy Mccoy: An ex All-star Shooting Guard with a legendary jumper. After he retired at the ripe age of 44, he continued his career by leading the Sentinels to their first ever Championship. He has been selected to lead Cruenatia in her first International Conquest.

Joshua Smith: Mccoy's Domestic league assistant coach. He has stuck by him and Mccoy refused to coach the national team unless Smith was on his staff.

Daniel Koslov: A defensive Genius. Was selected by Mccoy to help the players out on defense and keep the team more well rounded.

Starting Players

# 5 Justin "Ghost" Jones- PG- 6'0- 185 lbs- 25 Years old. Justin was a prodigy out of Valencia University. He lead the university to two back to back championships before his departure. He was then Signed to the Huskies where he won Rookie of the year and brought his team to the playoffs his first year, only being defeated by the sentinels in the Finals. He is an artist with the ball and seems to be able to glide around the opposition as if he were skating on ice. He is an efficient passer and can hit the basket from long range as well as shake the rim with creative dunks. He has the potential to be an all around monster.

#20 Devon Gordon- SG- 6'5- 210 lbs- 28 years old. Gordon has been around for some time now. In the beginning of his career, he played point guard where his strategic mind was showcased very well. But as he got older, he found himself favoring the SG position where his excellent 3 point shot could be used more effectively. His constant movement and pace makes him a hard player to defend. He can get open outside and sink a 3, drive in for a lay-up, or take some of the heat while his team mates get open. He lacks on Defense though, and manages to let his rival stay open. Even still, he manages to keep his opposition from out scoring him.

#18 Dennis Clementine- PF- 6'8- 288 lbs - 29 years old. Clementine has made a name for himself as a shot blocker. He can shut down offenses in the paint and set up break aways for his team, even getting in a few highlight dunks himself. He is ex-special forces and tends to be a more aggressive player on the court, but has learned to calm down a lot than in his earlier years. He still maintains a temper and will occasionally go off on another player or ref.

#12 Joel Carabolka- - C- 7'1- 302 lbs- 36 years old. Carabolka is someone who can surprise you. He manages to do very well on defense, but also has a pretty nasty jumper if left open. He doesn't get too many outside touches on the ball, as his size makes him ideal to drive in, but when he gets that open look he can drain a three. He has very good endurance and hardly ever wants to come off the court. He tends to work harder and train more often than other members in his domestic team to make sure he does his part.

#0 Mike Scandola- SF- 6'6 - 212 lbs- 30 years old. Scandola is quick for his size and very good at setting up plays for his team. His passing is excellent and he seems to always be in the right place at the right time. He also knows how to switch off of his man when he needs to to add constant pressure to the ball holder, when he's open. What he lacks is mid-range and outside shooting. He seems to struggle a lot with his shot and it has cost him his confidence and will likely pass the ball off to someone else if there is no space to drive, or he will force a space in and take a foul.

Bench

#1 Dan Mingola- G- 24 years old- 6'2- 200 lbs. The second Ideal selection for the starting PG spot. As talented as he is, he is just not athletic as Jones and is more well equipped to be a strong sixth man off the bench.
#28 Keith Dinolia- G- 26 years old - 5'10 - 195 lbs. A great spirit to have on the roster, he has skill but still hasn't truly tapped into his potential yet.
#55 Jared Wolfe- G 37 years old - 6'7 - 290 lbs. A veteran on the court. Is a great player to help guide the young roster and mentor them. He still has a pretty good jumper and can put points in the board when on the court.
#25 Ivan Islevski- F- 29 years old - 6'9 - 256 lbs. Very lean and skinny for his height. He can play center if need be. He is excellent on defense but struggles with his endurance and as good as he is, he can't stay on for too long.
#7 Antonio Vensacci- F- 24 years old - 5'11- 220 lbs. Another player with great potential that is just too inexperienced to start. He makes every minute on the court count, but sometimes his desire to be the best clouds his judgement and his attitude making him less of a team player.
#21 Ezekiel Johnson- C- 41 years old- 6'9 1/2 - 320 lbs. Surprisingly good for his age. Is only benched because of the more athletic and taller Center, Joel Carabolka.

Can pick who scores, and how they score.
Any injuries ask first, If it's a major injury to the starting five, might as well not even ask.

Changes for IBC 18
Vangaziland is entering this tournament tied for 52nd place. Tim Tomasson will return as head coach and will bring back a similar strategy. The Royals tend to move the ball around the perimeter and look for movement in the post. Defensively, they favor a shifting zone with press and man defense set for specific occasions.

Fred Sokol is no longer a rookie. He has developed into a corner three-point specialist. There were a few plays in the coach's book drawn for him.

There were a few cuts. Guard Hank Smythborg was replaced with a more proficient shooter. Thomas Yul was also replaced with a forward who was more offensively balanced. These changes shifted the team's focus more towards offense than the last team.

The new guard was Tom Gravu. Manny Lenden was the new forward. They were both capable players with years of experience in the VBL, Vangaziland's domestic A-league.

Nueva Andalusia Horneros National Basketball Team

Offensive Style: Horns (double high post)
Defensive Style: Man-to-man, occasional 2-3 zone
Style Modifier (if applicable): +3
Captain: Javier Medina
Colors: Red and White Home, Blue and White Away
Arena: Arena Nacional
Arena Location: Córdoba
Arena Capacity: 17,500
Head Coach: Emilio Rossi
Assistant Coaches: Antonio Castro, Gregorio Silva

Roster

Starters

G #1 Javier Medina, 5'11, 27
G #5 Francisco Aguirre, 6'2, 24
G #6 Federico Rojas, 6'4, 32
F #28 Marco Peirera, 6'9, 28
C #50 Marcelino Navarro, 6'10, 26

Reserves
G #15 David Benitez, 6'3, 33
G #9 Álvaro Quiroga, 6'2, 32
G #10 Martín Herrera, 6'1, 26
F #22 Claudio Pérez, 6'5, 30
F #47 Paolo Fernández, 6'9, 25
F #33 Cipriano Rivas, 6'8, 35

Playing Style

The Horneros play a fast-paced and aggressive style, seeking to push the tempo whenever possible. They're the kind of team that almost snatches the ball out of the basket, inbounds it, and is off to the races while the defense is trotting back. They do have a half-court offense, though. The "Horns" or double high post offense they employ revolves around the pick-and-roll. On defense, they usually apply three-quarter court press and stick to their men like glue on defense. This can lead to them getting beaten on the dribble drive, though.

The center, Marcelino Navarro, has risen from rural beginnings to become a force on both offense and defense for capital city club Córdoba C.B. Marco Pereira is a unstoppable force on offense, averaging over 20 points per game in the domestic league, and his defense has gradually become league-average. Javier Medina has emerged as the best point guard in the league, and his smooth handles and passes make this team go. Francisco Aguirre narrowly lost the MVP vote to Navarro last year and is averaging an even 22 points to match his age. Federico Rojas, even though he's a little small for the 3 position, fills his role well as a 3-and-D guy and will be tasked with facing the opponent's best wing player. The subs are mostly veterans on the smaller side, though Paolo Fernández has height and potential in abundance, and the lightning-quick Martin Herrera will be a key player as Medina's backup.

Nova Anglicana Lions National Basketball Team

Offensive Style: 4 Out, 1 In
Defensive Style: Aggressive
Style Modifier (if applicable): +2
Captain: Caleb Burns
Colors: Red and White Home, Blue and White Away
Arena: National Arena (doubles as hockey stadium)
Arena Location: Londinium
Arena Capacity: 14,000
Head Coach: Raymon Guidry
Assistant Coaches: Elmo Cardwell, Nick Goodman

Roster

Starters

G #3 Caleb Burns, 5'10, 32 - dished out a career-high 7.3 assists per game in NABA last year, decent jumper but real game is driving and dropping dimes
G #8 Omar Martin, 6'4, 23 - Martin a 2nd-year player out of St. Thomas University (Vinovium), won ROY last year, combo guard with good handles and a sweet stroke
F #25 Cody Lewis, 6'6, 32 - fiery competitor, temper gets him in trouble, great outside shooter and defender, will see a lot of time
F #41 Kelvin Braxton, 6'9, 28 - Braxton is a tremendous leaper, has the handles to play 3 or 4-spot, added bulk gets him the starting spot
C #44 Ibrahim Mbaraza, 7'2, 33 - Sudanese refugee is a defensive force, offense will never be truly elite, but adequate, will be tested in new starting role

Reserves
G #14 Rey Benavides, 6'4, 33 - Benavides does two things well: defend, and rebound, offensive game is weak
G #12 Stephen Knight, 6'0, 34 - Knight is deadly jump shooter, still needs to work on his D
G #17 Dominic King, 6'2, 37 - The former NABA MVP, King can shoot, handle, pass, and play D, just not as well as he used to
G #10 Danny Flowers, 6'3, 34 - improved defender, he can really pop the 3-ball, don't leave him open
F #35 Alphonse DuBois, 6'8, 35 - DuBois is a banger, plays a physical defensive and offensive game, not afraid to throw his weight around
F #22 Cameron Fischer, 6'8, 24 - Fischer is one of the new breed of forwards, sweet jumper and decent handles, needs to work on back to the basket game
C #48 David Wolfe, 6'10, 25 - Wolfe earned his way onto the national team by scoring 23 points per game last year, not much in the way of defense

Playing Style

Nova Anglicana is not known for producing extremely tall players, and its young history means that they've had to take what they can get as far as athletes. As such, they've adopted a quick, aggressive, team rather than a particularly big one. They've gone to a more traditional lineup to get Lewis some more playing time as Flowers has lost a step. Their main defenses are man-to-man and a 2-3 matchup zone, but have been known to play a trapping 1-3-1, 3-2, or a box-and-one, with Martin replacing Flowers as the guy chasing the opposing team all over the court. With Mbaraza now the starting center, they'll probably rely more on that 2-3 matchup zone, as he is notoriously slow of foot. They also employ a 1-3-1 full-court press, with Mbaraza to play goalkeeper in the back. Their game relies on creating turnovers and turning them into points, so they run fairly often. When forced into a half-court situation, they used to dump the ball down to former captain Gary Hale and let him work, or try to draw their defenders out of the lane so that somebody can drive. With the retirement of Hale from international play and his replacement by Mbaraza, the low post game is going to be somewhat less emphasized. Look for them to try to get Mbaraza involved on alley-oops and other plays where he's less than five feet from the basket. Otherwise, the guards are going to have to pick up much of the scoring slack. Omar Martin should help with that, and Lewis+Braxton at the 3 and 4 spots provide some serious athleticism.

Riverside Stadium, Avon, AVEN
Image

Home to the Avon Stars ice hockey team, the Avon Saints basketball team and the national basketball team. Situated close to the Garpu River (hence the name), which separates the twin cities of Avon and Coventry, the stadium can seat 16,250 people (which can be expanded to 17,000). From 2003-2009, it was officially known as the Hinckley Bank Stadium due to a sponsorship deal, although fans still called it by its [then] old name.

HomeFiller Arena, Coventry, AVEN
Image

Built in 1989, the HomeFiller Arena is also known as the Coventry Arena, especially in situations where HomeFiller isn't sponsoring the event in question. With a total capacity of 17,000, it is also home to the Coventry Puffins; the backup stadium for the national ice hockey and basketball teams; home to the junior and U-18 ice hockey teams; and the Coventry Nets basketball team. It entered a sponsorship deal with furniture store HomeFiller in 2013. The deal is expected to last until 2017.

Notes

Prince Ioannes is the younger brother of King Petrus XX, the star quarterback for the Saintland National Gridiron Team and current King of Saintland. He is also the older brother of Andreas Usurpus, the former captain of the Saintland National Soccer Team. Prince Ioannes was the tallest of the sons of King Paulus XV, so he became a basketball player. He is already widely considered the best big man ever to play in Saintland's basketball league and he has been the reigning league MVP for a number of years. His only weakness is the 3-point shot. Although the Saintland National Basketball Team is often slow to get back on defense, Prince Ioannes is a great defensive player when he is in position. Axius is a good center, except for his poor shooting on foul shots. Sornatius is the newest addition to the team. He received a special accommodation from the University of Saintland, where he is a 3rd (final) year student, to play in this edition of the IBC. Sornatius is primarily a defensive specialist, who will see most of his minutes late in games when the Saintland National Team is trying to hold onto a lead. Basically, the Saintland National Basketball Team plays 1960s style basketball, with the center as the main scorer, but the other players will get shots throughout the course of a game. The arena's capacity is nearly the entire population of St. Petrus and the total population of Saintland is around 600 thousand. This team advanced to the Quarterfinals of IBC 12, where they were eliminated by the apple-tossers from Cassadaigua and finished 4th in IBC 13. In IBC 14, they went undefeated until the Semi-Finals, defeated Cassadaigua 2 out of 3 times in the Semis and were taken the full 5 games in the finals by a surprising Electrum team before they finally won their first IBC. While they struggled in IBC 15 and, at times, looked bored, they nonetheless managed to become the first repeat IBC champion since Sarzonia and finally secure that elusive #1 ranking. IBC 16 was more of the same, as the Sanctii became the first team to three-peat as IBC champions, in the process tying Sarzonia for the most IBC titles. However, they finally faltered against Electrum in the semi-finals of IBC 17, despite home court advantage and would have to settle for a third place finish. They return to IBC 18, seeking that record 4th IBC title.

Cruenatian Sports Tonight!

Postby Cruenatia » Fri Aug 21, 2015 3:20 am

Freddie Sanchez: Good Morning Cruenatia. My name is Freddie Sanchez here along side Michael Verducci and we've got an update on the international front. It appears the drawing for the International Basketball Championships have concluded yesterday evening as Cruenatians all over the country waited in anticipation to see where Cruenatia would be placed. It looks as though Cruenatia has drawn into group G.

Michael Verducci: That's Right Freddie, Cruenatia seems to be going up against a few other nations who will be making their debut, as well as a few veterans in the championship. We got a few words from Head Coach Jeremy Mccoy not long after the drawing ceremony ended.

--
Jeremy Mccoy: I feel confident about the group we landed in. We've got two other untested nations, and then three teams that are ranked pretty high. Our biggest test is going to be the match up with Chiata, as they are ranked number five in the world. But, I have confidence in our team and the rest of my coaching staff that we will be able to come away strong and make it to the playoffs.
--
Michael Verducci: It sounds to me as though Coach Mccoy has faith that his boys can produce on the international stage.

Freddie Sanchez: There is a lot of talent on this Cruenatian team, but along with it is alot of Inexperience. Several of the starting players are only in there second or third season in the CBA and now are given the burden of representing the nation on the big stage?

Michael Verducci: These aren't just you're run of the mill rookies Freddie. Look at the youngster who is the captain of the team, Justin Jones. He's already made himself into a superstar winning the League MVP two years in a row. He may be young but Coach Mccoy knows what he's doing and I think he picked the right guys for the job here.

Freddie Sanchez: Well, We've also got a few words from Cruenatians Captain after the Group drawing.
--

Reporter: So Jones, how do you feel about leading your team into the unknown as Cruenatia makes her debut on the International Stage?

Justin "Ghost" Jones: I feel great. I've been working with this team for a few months now in preparations for the world stage. I believe we're ready, the coaches think we're ready, and more importantly, the proud Cruenatian people think we're ready. So now all we need to do is go out there and show them and the world that they put their trust into the right group of men. We won't let them down and we will let the world know where Cruenatia stands.

Reporter: Nicely said. How do you feel about going up against the 5th ranked nation in the world in this Group.

Justin "Ghost" Jones: Quite honestly, I'm not. I'm more worried about the teams we haven't seen play before. They are the ones that can surprise us just as much as we can them. Chiata is going to be a test, don't get me wrong. It'll be a true test of our abilities and the coach's ability to adapt and plan it out. However we know what we're walking into when we face Chiata. When we face Ack Barnes or Minecraft Miners, we have no idea what we will see. Hell, maybe one of them has the skill to be the number 1 ranked team, they just haven't played yet. But at the end of the day, no matter who is on the other side of the court, we're going to put our heart and souls out there and see what happens.
--

Michael Verducci: Now that is spoken like a true leader and worthy Captain. Even you have to admit that Freddie.

Freddie Sanchez: I'll admit the kid has heart and some definite skill. But i'm just not sure he's ready to lead this team to the top. Well that is all for now ladies and gentlemen. We want to know what your thoughts are on this. How will Cruenatia make out in Group G? Is Jones ready to lead? Will Chiata be too much for them to handle? Let us know on our messageboards at CruenatianSportsTonight.com/IBC18 and let us know what you think. I've been Freddie Sanchez.

Michael Verducci: And I'm Michael Verducci. Thanks for watching and we'll see you at the next Update!
