An Invitation to the Nations of the Multiverse

Sporting World Magazine is a magazine renowned throughout the multiverse for our high quality coverage of the world of sports. Now, in honor of the restoration of the Federation of Free Republics and to showcase the future of soccer, we at Sporting World announce the opening of signups for the inaugural edition of the Sporting World Cup, the new tournament for the best soccer players 18 years of age or younger from throughout the multiverse.

The first 32 U18 National Teams to sign up in this thread by stating their intention to participate will gain entry into the tournament. We request that participants refrain from entering what is known as a "puppet" nation in this tournament (OOC: in other words, 1 nation per OOC user) in order to save spots for other nations that wish to participate. The format for the tournament will be identical to the format used for all 72 editions of the World Cup finals: The 32 teams will be split into 8 groups of 4 teams each and will play their group mates once. The top 2 teams in each group will advance to the knockout rounds, which will be single elimination with the exception of a third place match. Matches will be scorinated every 48 hours and the tournament will start at some point following the conclusion of World Cup 72. The tournament will be held in the Federation of Free Republics. This post also counts as a sign up for the Free Republics.
