Corsica and Sardinia

Postby Rio Cana » Fri Jul 31, 2015 4:58 pm

You never really hear about these two places. Generally, mainland France and Italy are always on the news. Usually, one problem or another. But these islands are not really mentioned. So is it all happiness on these islands which are not very populated. Are these Southern European islands a good place to visit, live and work.

I think these island might be a good place to live if you have money or if you want to live calmly. But in reality only someone who lives there could tell us. Do these islands have a lot of tourists going there. Europeans love going to Tunisia but why not go to Corsica or Sardinia instead. At least it should be safer.

It seems the map originates from the 1990s. From 1991-2000 there was this state called Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. In 2001 Yugoslavia renamed itself into "Serbia and Montenegro". In 2006 Mntenegro left the Union which was the final act of Yugoslavia.

They're both beautiful islands, I'd like to visit them one day.

Idk about Corsica, but Sardinia is such a good place to live that lots Sardinians emigrate to Continental Italy and to the rest of Europe.

Europeans love going to Tunisia but why not go to Corsica or Sardinia instead. At least it should be safer.

Well... at least in Sardinia, rationed water in many areas, poorly-kept, widespread poverty and unemployment, no autostrada, almost no railway, almost no industry, plus the occasional kidnapping...

Ex-italian resident, went on holiday to sardinia when i was young, good memories. I was just talking of it to a mate last night as a possible holiday destination for a future trip:). My dad has been to corsica and rated it highly too, it sounded really nice.

Last thing I remember in the news about France was when Fox News was going on and on about these so-called "no-go zones" for Muslims only, until the mayor of Paris sued for defamation or slander or something. Lol. Shows you how aware we really are about France.

Not alone. Someone will have to intervene in support of them. How's the Commonwealth doing these days? Or maybe Austria? Great Britain's a possibility now that someone modded in a strait across the Channel.

Those are all too far away, though. Britain/Poland/Austria aren't close enough to Corsica to want to do it.
Perhaps Spain? They control Sardinia, after all. With the Support Rebels Casus Belli they could easily take the island itself.

Spain'd need some fairly powerful allies to call to arms.

Not if they can attack before France gets Elan.
If they can't, they might be able to call in Burgundy, because they're rivals already.

So what you are saying is that mainland Italy and even the EU. have left Sardinia to fend for itself. I do know they have some kind of autonomy. Seems they might need more. Corsica also has autonomy. But I do not know there current economic situation.

Found some info. on Corsica from 2010 which seems to explain what is happening there. Seem there economy was growing but so was the violence. They seem a clan based society.
http://www.connexionfrance.com/corisca- ... ticle.html

Seems Sardinia is safer but supposedly organized crime likes to use Sardinia to dump illegal waste. Has for there economy, the following person thinks Sardinia has a good future.
http://www.jobintourism.it/job/articolo ... coli=18934

Found out 1/3 of Sardinia use to be part of US and or NATO military bases. It seems they left but tended to forget to clean up the contamination they left. Sort of what happened on Vieques island.

I was looking for a map which clearly showed Corsica and Sardinia. San Marino and even former Yugoslavia which are on the map have nothing to do with it.
And yes, it seems most of the world forgets there is a San Marino which has been independent most of its 1700 years .

Kind of off-topic but watch this short but amazing video that shows San Marino which is mostly on a mountain top.
